Chapter 100: Chapter 100: New Skills
Every race has its own inherent advantages. Since ancient times, the Yardrats' greatest gift had been their natural aptitude for psychic abilities.
Today, however, that advantage seemed to have been surpassed.
Raditz's talent actually exceeded that of most Yardrats!
An idea formed in Pybara's mind—he wanted to see if Raditz could break through the conventional limits and learn more than two techniques.
"Saiyan, your spiritual power is extraordinary, but I've observed an anomaly. Your body carries a violent energy that's incompatible with your soul, preventing you from accessing your maximum potential. If you could eliminate this disharmony, your abilities would reach entirely new heights."
Hearing Pybara's words, Raditz fell silent.
His flesh and spirit were indeed misaligned. If they could achieve perfect harmony, he would undoubtedly become far stronger!
"Don't worry, I'll help you overcome this obstacle. After you complete this phase of training, I'll teach you both Instant Transmission and other techniques."
"Other techniques?" Raditz asked.
"Psychokinesis. The ability to use thought alone to control people or objects, to alter material structures, and to bind the spirit and body of living beings. With sufficient power, everything except time and space itself falls under your control."
Pybara revealed to Raditz the skills he himself had failed to fully master. In his eyes, Raditz was the only one who could fulfill this unrealized potential.
He had complete faith in the Saiyan.
"Beyond psychokinesis, I can guide you toward other abilities as well. Though I haven't mastered some myself, I possess an extensive collection of ancient texts and inscribed walls that can fully support your studies."
A whole menu of abilities to choose from? Raditz felt a surge of enthusiasm rising within him.
For the next month, Raditz rose with the first light of dawn and retired beneath the silver glow of the moon. In addition to navigating the maze, he undertook supplementary "overload meditation" exercises.
These overload meditations involved maintaining perfect focus in deliberately extreme environments.
Sometimes he meditated in a frigid snowfield, where biting cold seeped into his lungs, nearly freezing his internal organs. Knife-like winds cut across his skin until it grew numb.
Other times, he descended into a volcanic crater where magma flowed beneath his feet. Sweat evaporated instantly in the scorching heat, as if he were being roasted alive. Occasionally, flares of flame and lava would shoot skyward, distorting the air around him.
There was also a void-like space where he experienced hours of absolute isolation, testing the limits of his patience. Or a realm of darkness and apparitions that forced every inner fear to the surface. Or illusions of beautiful women, pulling at the threads of desire, attempting to entangle him...
All these scenarios were tests created by Pybara, but to Raditz in his meditative state, they felt completely real. In the void space, for instance, he nearly went mad after just two hours during his first attempt—the sensation of his body itching without being able to scratch was unbearable torture. And the temptation of beautiful women would challenge any man, let alone a Saiyan with their naturally passionate temperament.
Pybara monitored Raditz with strict attention, never allowing his mind to wander or his focus to break. If Raditz ever collapsed from his meditative state, Pybara would immediately rouse him.
Each session left Raditz drenched in sweat, the training no less demanding than physical combat.
The effects were evident. Raditz felt his mind growing increasingly calm and centered. The irritability originating from his body diminished day by day, and the harmony between his body and spirit steadily improved.
Another month passed in this manner.
Raditz finally conquered the Void Forest Maze and began studying Instant Transmission directly. His psychokinetic training was also progressing well.
In Pybara's garden, Raditz placed two fingers to his forehead, concentrating intensely as he searched for energy signatures. Watching his pupil's rapid advancement, Pybara felt an indescribable sense of accomplishment.
Who had ever heard of someone completing the maze in just two months? This achievement alone would astound the entire planet. Moreover, Raditz was simultaneously mastering two mystical techniques—a feat worthy of legend. Most importantly, he was the disciple of Master Pybara!
"When Soba first recommended him to me, I nearly refused," Pybara reflected. "Looking back, that would have been a terrible mistake. I almost missed training a genuine prodigy..." Now Pybara's face lit up with delight whenever he saw Raditz.
"Found it!" Raditz suddenly exclaimed with excitement.
Immediately afterward, with a soft "whoosh," his figure vanished. About two minutes later, he reappeared next to Pybara, holding two boxes of fish.
"Excellent work. The first task is complete," Pybara nodded approvingly. "Next, deliver these fish to the flower shop owner in the Eastern District, and bring back two 'meteor blossoms'."
They were practicing Instant Transmission by performing deliveries across Yardrat. Raditz had suggested this approach, and Pybara had found it ingeniously practical. They arranged deliveries with various businesses and individuals—effectively accomplishing two goals at once.
Mastery of Instant Transmission required proficiency, and proficiency demanded repetition. The gap between proficiency and perfection might seem small, but in combat, every millisecond could determine survival. The difference was potentially fatal.
Raditz understood this truth completely, so he doubled his efforts and never allowed himself to relax.
...
Outside Planet Yardrat, a hundred or so spaceships traced silver arcs through space as they entered the atmosphere.
Leading them was a massive disc-shaped vessel, its surface plated with gleaming gold that reflected the dazzling sunlight.
"We've entered Planet Yardrat's atmosphere. Analysis confirms this target can be conquered. Awaiting your orders, King Delutha!" On the command bridge, an alien officer reported respectfully as he monitored the display.
Delutha gazed at the planet below and nodded. "Yardrat is indeed as rumored—a simple yet technologically advanced world."
"Yes, Great King. They also possess many mystical techniques."
"Perfect. I shall obtain all the secrets of Planet Yardrat, and then control the universe! Hahahahaha!" Delutha's maniacal laughter filled the bridge, and his subordinates joined in.
"All glory to King Delutha!"
"Once I master the universe, suitable rewards will be yours," Delutha declared, waving his hand. His crocodilian head opened wide, revealing rows of razor-sharp teeth.
His crimson cape billowed behind him as he commanded the fleet to halt at high altitude, directly above many of Yardrat's floating islands.
The Yardrat people stared upward at the invading armada. Never had they seen so many warships attacking at once, and panic spread rapidly across the planet.
A booming voice echoed through the air, reaching even the most distant settlements:
"Hear me, people of Yardrat! Your planet is now surrounded by the forces of King Delutha. Surrender immediately, and your lives will be spared! Resist, and face total annihilation!
