I Am Raditz

Chapter 99: Chapter 99: Mental Power Exercise

Are all Yardrats food-obsessed?

Seeing Master Pybara's hopeful expression, Raditz felt a wave of helplessness. Here was this serious mentor, completely changing his demeanor over the prospect of food...

He smiled wryly. "I only have two steamed buns with me."

"Buns? What are those?" Pybara extended his hand impatiently. "Don't worry about it, just let me have a taste. You'll be cooking for me throughout your training anyway."

A true master indeed—already arranging future meals.

Raditz realized this was essentially his tuition payment. With a soft sigh, he retrieved the buns from his capsule and offered them.

Once Master Pybara had the buns in hand, he seemed satisfied and finally displayed the proper dignity of a teacher.

He stood beside Raditz and spoke with authority, "Let's begin your training. First, you must understand that Instant Transmission is intimately connected to your spirit energy. The stronger and purer your mental power, the more efficiently you can use teleportation. Before learning the technique itself, you need to enhance your spiritual strength and purity. The best method is to practice in this 'Void Forest Maze' until you find your way out."

"Void Forest Maze?"

"Precisely. Within this maze, every step requires tremendous mental energy and will induce psychic shocks. It's the perfect training ground. For an average person, traversing the maze takes about a year. In my case, it took three months—the fastest record among all Yardrats."

Pybara's tone remained flat, as if discussing an unremarkable event, without the slightest hint of boasting.

A year? Three months? The timeframe was excessive. And that was considered fast? No wonder it took Goku a full year to master this technique.

"Sit down, and we'll begin," Pybara instructed.

"Very well." Raditz sat cross-legged, and immediately felt his spiritual energy responding to the maze's powerful attraction, attempting to flow outward in all directions.

He was currently at the center with eight paths surrounding him. Only one was the correct route, not to mention the countless forks that would appear along the way. Finding the exit would clearly require enormous effort.

Might as well pick a path and see what happens.

Raditz focused his mind, transformed his mental energy into a spectral form, and projected it along the path directly in front of him. He managed to travel more than five meters unimpeded before encountering the first obstacle—the floating, illusory light waves began distorting his mental projection.

While this might have overwhelmed Raditz in the past, his soul-replacement had significantly enhanced his mental capabilities. The illusory ripples that surged like a raging sea merely felt like a gentle stream against his spiritual power.

Concentrating deeply, he continued forward under the pressure, advancing another ten meters.

"Extraordinary! He's managed such distance on his first attempt!" Pybara was shocked. His own consciousness enveloped every corner of the maze, giving him complete awareness of Raditz's progress.

He never expected Raditz to cover more than 15 meters in a single attempt. This was just the beginning! For context, when Pybara first tried the maze, he was violently repelled after only 2 meters!

In the silent labyrinth, waves of invisible energy pulsed. Raditz remained seated, sweat pouring down his face as he gritted his teeth and pressed forward.

25 meters! Pybara stared at Raditz in disbelief, his eyes wide with astonishment.

He couldn't comprehend how a Saiyan was accomplishing what had seemed impossible for Yardrats!

"Phew... that's my limit! It's truly powerful!" Raditz suddenly exhaled deeply and withdrew his mental projection. He felt utterly drained, as if his body had been hollowed out. His clothes were soaked with sweat that continued to pour out, and his mind felt foggy, almost oxygen-deprived.

Even this brief experience gave him profound respect for the Yardrat techniques.

"Master Pybara, how did I do?"

"Ah... well..." Pybara had just recovered from his shock. After a pause, believing his surprise hadn't been noticed, he cleared his throat. "It was acceptable. Not particularly impressive. Average, I'd say."

"Average? If I'd known that, I would have given it my all in one go!"

"Full... full strength?! You mean you weren't using all your power just now?" Pybara's eyes widened again, the wrinkles on his face deepening.

"Right. I thought I could achieve decent results while conserving some energy."

"Gulp—" Master Pybara's throat bobbed as he stared at Raditz with an extremely strange expression, as if examining some unprecedented specimen. The intensity of his gaze made Raditz uncomfortable.

That predatory look... was the master interested in him in some unexpected way? Raditz hadn't researched Yardrat relationship customs yet! A parade of alarming thoughts raced through his mind.

Suddenly, Pybara moved his face closer, causing Raditz to recoil slightly. But then the master spoke with solemn intensity: "Use your full strength. I want to see it!"

Raditz relaxed with relief, gathered his focus, and nodded. "Alright! I'll try!" Even without Pybara's prompting, he was curious to discover his true limits!

The first time he had fully unleashed his mental powers was during his life-or-death struggle with Bandlers. In that moment, his survival instinct had awakened, elevating his already formidable spiritual energy to unprecedented heights.

This would be the second time.

Raditz closed his eyes and channeled his vast mental power into a spiritual projection that surged forward along the chosen path. Before the blue light walls on either side could even react with their normal impact, his rapidly moving consciousness had already flown far ahead, navigating through three different forks in the road!

"What on..."

Master Pybara was left speechless.

How could there exist someone with such innate ability, displaying more power without training than others showed after years of practice? This level of mental strength was already sufficient to perform teleportation!

What kind of anomalies were these Saiyans?

Fortunately, Raditz didn't immediately find the exit, or Pybara might have lost his composure entirely. Regardless of Raditz's extraordinary mental prowess, sustaining this level of exertion within the maze was impossible. After encountering a particularly resistant barrier, he was finally repelled.

"Huff... huff... huff..." Raditz surrendered once more. He felt more than twice as exhausted as his previous attempt. The combined mental and physical fatigue from his full-power attempt left him completely drained. He collapsed onto his back, too worn out to speak.

"That was your full strength?! Absolutely incredible!"

Pybara's eyes gleamed like stars as he stared at Raditz, his breathing becoming rapid and shallow.

Planet Yardrat harbored many mystical techniques—phasing through solid matter, teleportation, telepathic communication, divination, and more. Each required extraordinarily powerful mental energy to learn and utilize, which was why most Yardrats could only master one or two techniques in their lifetime.

Pybara himself had mastered both teleportation and telepathy, developing both to exceptional levels—an achievement that had earned him recognition as a rare master. Most Yardrats could only hope to become proficient in a single technique.

And yet Raditz's aptitude surpassed even the most gifted Yardrats!

Master Pybara suddenly conceived a bold idea.
