Chapter 89: Chapter 89: The Three Wishes
A Dragon Ball rested directly beneath the Tree of Might.
When Turles had first arrived, the Namekians had mistaken him for Goku. So when Turles mentioned wanting a Dragon Ball, they immediately dug one out and offered it to him.
Turles had been dumbfounded at the time. He'd prepared various tactics, intending to torture and intimidate them into compliance. Instead, his elaborate schemes proved unnecessary as he simply received the Dragon Ball.
Ultimately, Nappa and Tien had interrupted his good fortune.
Otherwise, Turles might have actually succeeded.
Now, besides the unearthed Dragon Ball, another remained buried deep in the ground. The radar showed that the remaining five were aboard Lord Slug's damaged spaceship. The group moved quickly to gather all seven.
Seeing that the Dragon Balls remained crystal clear, Raditz felt relieved.
This indicated that the Namekian Dragon Balls were still functional—which meant the Grand Elder was still alive.
Like Earth's Dragon Balls, the creator's life force was intimately connected to the Dragon Balls. The Grand Elder was the maker of Namek's set.
Tracing back to their origin, Namek's Dragon Balls were merely fragments scraped from the Super Dragon Balls. Their wish-granting ability wasn't bestowed by the Namekians, but was a gift from the dragon god Zalama. The exceptional dragons among Namekians were those who received gifts from the dragon gods. They created Dragon Balls, connecting these artifacts to the dragons themselves.
The Grand Elder was the oldest and most capable Namekian alive, yet he could die at any moment due to his advanced age—especially in such a world-shattering environment where accidents were unpredictable.
The doomsday catastrophe approached rapidly, and the Grand Elder might perish at any moment! Even more terrifying—Piccolo's rage was building again!
Not long ago, Raditz had temporarily stopped Piccolo with his whistle. After being bombarded by the mentally unstable Piccolo, the Namekian seemed to have developed a split personality. Two different consciousnesses struggled within him as he clutched his head in agony.
But now, a powerful and evil energy signature approached rapidly.
"Piccolo's energy is moving! Make the wish!" Raditz shouted urgently.
Hurry! Piccolo in his current state was unstoppable!
But when Goku attempted to summon the dragon, the Dragon Balls remained inert.
Was the incantation wrong? Krillin tried again, but still nothing happened. How could five simple words cause such trouble? Everyone grew increasingly anxious as Piccolo's energy signature drew closer.
"Wait! We need to use the Namekian language!" Raditz suddenly remembered the summoning conditions. Namek's Dragon Balls required both summoning and wishes to be spoken in Namekian.
But the Namekians... looking around, they were all dead.
Rush to the Grand Elder? It might be too late! By the time they arrived, the planet would likely have exploded.
Were they trapped?
"I can speak Namekian."
A voice startled everyone. They turned, as if beholding a savior. Tumat fluttered forward under their surprised gaze and shouted: "Takkarapto Popporunga Pupiritto Paro!"
In his free time away from fighting he already manage to get the information of how to summon the dragon thinking the worst situation might occur.
Though Raditz couldn't understand the Namekian language, the lengthy, incomprehensible series of sounds caused the Dragon Balls to glow!
Tumat truly was their savior. Once again, Raditz realized how invaluable his small companion was.
In an instant, thunder intensified and clouds thickened. Golden light shot skyward as lightning illuminated the surroundings. A deafening sound echoed across the landscape like a god's drumstick beating the earth. This spectacle was far more magnificent than Earth's dragon summonings!
Witnessing such an awe-inspiring scene, Krillin couldn't help shrinking back. Even Goku, accustomed to dragon summonings, appeared stunned.
Golden rays burst forth, infused with majestic power. The frighteningly enormous figure twisted and circled through the sky several times before revealing its true form. The massive dragon stood nearly 100 meters tall, entirely green with black spikes adorning its head and back. Unlike Earth's dragon, its two arms were exceptionally powerful, with its lower body connected to the Dragon Balls by its tail.
Behind the dragon stretched a desolate planet and the raging Tree of Might. The gloomy sky created a sharp contrast against the golden light.
Namek's dragon, named Porunga, dwarfed Earth's Shenron in size, with power and abilities that were incomparable. Though Raditz and the others possessed power levels in the millions, they still felt overwhelming pressure in Porunga's presence.
Porunga's scarlet eyes surveyed the people below as he released a thunderous dragon cry!
"State your wishes. I can grant anything, but you are limited to three."
"Three?" Everyone was shocked.
Earth's dragon could only grant one wish, but Namek's dragon possessed triple the power! However, Raditz knew that Porunga could only resurrect one person per wish, which seemed inferior to Earth's dragon from that perspective.
"Tumat, tell him to purge Piccolo's evil thoughts first!"
"Quickly, he's very close!"
Everyone sensed the powerful aura rapidly approaching. It was about to break through the canyon where they were gathered.
Tumat immediately obeyed, opening his mouth to speak, but a louder voice drowned him out. Growing in volume as it approached, the shout rang out in Namekian.
"Grant Piccolo, the Great Demon King, immortality!!!" Piccolo's command caused Porunga to suddenly raise his head, his red eyes flashing brightly.
For a moment, everyone froze in horror.
Piccolo had beaten them to it!
Porunga didn't care who collected the Dragon Balls—once a wish was spoken, he would grant it. His eyes flickered before he made an affirmative gesture. "Your first wish has been granted."
Hovering in mid-air, Piccolo's body became enveloped in a thin layer of light. Though physically unchanged, his essence had fundamentally altered. His evil smile grew thick and insolent, revealing his fangs as his eyes filled with murderous intent!
The next second, Piccolo charged forward.
Raditz whistled quickly, the sound causing Piccolo to slow again, but this time it merely delayed him.
Without waiting for instructions, Tumat took initiative: "Shenron, clear Piccolo's evil thoughts!"
Porunga's eyes flickered as Piccolo faltered momentarily. After a brief pause, the dragon raised his head again, expression unchanged.
"I cannot. His dominant consciousness refuses."
Refused? Just as Goku had once refused to return to Earth, personal will could override wishes targeting an individual's mind.
Unable to purge the evil, they could only escape.
Tumat had a sudden inspiration: "Except for Piccolo, transport all living beings to a safe place!"
As he finished speaking, green energy shot from Piccolo's fingertips.
His target wasn't Raditz and the others, but Porunga himself! Truly worthy of being called the Great Demon King!
At the critical moment, Porunga's eyes flickered twice. The red light wavered as a thin white aura enveloped the group, just as Piccolo's attack struck. Though noble and mighty, the Namekian dragon lacked sufficient combat power. He had barely begun the gesture to grant the wish when evil energy overwhelmed him.
Immense power engulfed Porunga as the golden light faded and the Dragon Balls turned to lifeless stone.
But their wish had been fulfilled. When Piccolo turned to attack again, everyone vanished in an instant.
In that hellish world, only the Great Demon King Piccolo remained, his maniacal laughter continuing amid rising magma and the collapsing planet...
