Chapter 4: 4. Value Exchange
Atop Hokage Rock, Iruka sat on a nearby stone, watching Naruto with tears in his eyes.
"He's actually cleaning to make up for his mistakes!"
"Naruto, you've really grown up!"
"This… This makes me so proud!"
His voice cracked with emotion.
Earlier, Mizuki had dragged him into a conversation about Naruto's behavior, delaying him. He had fully expected Naruto to sneak off and cause more trouble.
Instead, he found him voluntarily cleaning the Hokage Rock.
Incredible.
Even the most mischievous student in Konoha had finally repented.
Did this mean that his teaching abilities were improving?
Perhaps… he was even qualified to become the headmaster of the Ninja Academy!
If he requested a promotion next year, surely the Third Hokage would agree… right?
The more Iruka thought about it, the warmer his heart felt.
The next second, he let out a joyful laugh.
Naruto, on the other hand, had zero interest in Iruka's emotional outburst.
He just wanted to finish cleaning quickly.
The sooner he was done, the sooner he could find Mizuki and convince him to steal the Scroll of Sealing!
While Iruka was still lost in his daydream, he turned to Naruto with a big smile.
"Naruto, since you've been so responsible today, I'll treat you to ramen after you finish cleaning!"
"Eat as much as you want—until you're completely stuffed!"
Naruto's eyes widened in surprise.
"Ramen?!"
Sure, ramen wasn't expensive, but as someone who relied on relief food, he could rarely afford it.
However, after a few moments, his excitement faded into hesitation.
His brows furrowed in conflict.
After a long pause, he reluctantly refused.
"No need. After I finish cleaning, I have to go see the Third Hokage."
These were the words Fengxu had prepared for him in advance.
Naruto didn't have time to enjoy ramen tonight.
He had to find Mizuki while he was still at school.
If he waited until Mizuki went home, it would be harder to track him down without drawing suspicion.
Iruka's expression softened.
He understood Naruto's bond with the Third Hokage, so he didn't pry further.
Still, he could see the disappointment on Naruto's face.
With a chuckle, he patted Naruto on the shoulder.
"Tomorrow, if not today. The day after, if not tomorrow. A promise is a promise—I'll take you for ramen no matter what!"
At those words, Naruto's eyes lit up again.
His previous reluctance vanished, replaced by pure excitement.
"LONG LIVE TEACHER IRUKA!!"
He jumped up, cheering like a child.
Meanwhile, inside Naruto's mind, Fengxu had been watching the entire conversation unfold.
He didn't stop it.
He didn't interfere.
He didn't care.
Iruka would never be more important than he was.
At most, Iruka was just a good teacher to Naruto.
Nothing more.
(/N: Poor Iruka )
Right now, Fengxu was far more interested in the new exchange list that had appeared on his system panel.
System Exchange List:
[ Asura Chakra ]
• Blackening Value: 3,000,000 (Yes, you read that correctly. This is the cost.)
[ Nine-Tails Chakra ]
• Blackening Value: 100,000
[ Iruka Chakra ]
• Blackening Value: 100
There weren't many options—only a few chakra sources had been collected so far.
Since Naruto had only come into direct contact with these individuals, they were the only ones available.
Fengxu sighed as he looked at his current Blackening Value: 120.
"So I can only afford Iruka's chakra right now."
To be honest, he didn't want to waste Blackening Value on it.
After all, once Naruto learned the Multi-Shadow Clone Jutsu, he would already surpass Iruka's level.
But at the moment, Fengxu's strength wasn't much better than Naruto's.
He wasn't at the level of an average ninja yet.
And since the Scroll of Sealing incident was about to be altered, he needed to be prepared.
Even though there were Anbu agents secretly protecting Naruto and the Third Hokage occasionally monitoring him, Fengxu knew better than to rely on others.
"System, can I exchange for individual jutsu instead of full chakra inheritance?"
The system didn't reply with words—instead, it displayed a new list.
Expanded Exchange List:
[ Asura Chakra ]
• Seeking Truth Orbs: 2,000,000
• Wood Release Ninjutsu: 600,000
• Super Kage-Level Taijutsu: 180,000
• Immortal Body: 200,000
• Wind Bullet Jutsu: 5,000
• Wind Release Ninjutsu: 2,000
[ Nine-Tails Chakra ]
• Yin Kurama: 50,000
• Yang Kurama: 50,000
• One-Tailed Chakra Mode: 2,000
• Two-Tailed Chakra Mode: 8,000
• Three-Tailed Chakra Mode: 14,000
• Eight-Tailed Chakra Mode: 44,000
[ Iruka Chakra ]
• Chunin-Level Taijutsu: 50
• Basic Three Jutsu (Clone, Transformation, Substitution): 10
• Various Basic Ninjutsu: 40
Fengxu's eyebrow twitched.
"I still can't afford anything useful!"
Even the cheapest high-level jutsu cost at least a few thousand Blackening Value.
At best, he could afford Iruka's Taijutsu.
Still, it gave him an idea.
"System, if I exchange for multiple people's Taijutsu, can I stack their strength together?"
[ Yes. The host can combine the same abilities from multiple sources.
For example, accumulating multiple Chunin-level Taijutsu exchanges will eventually upgrade it to Jounin-level.
However, this method costs significantly more than a direct high-level exchange. Choose wisely. ]
Fengxu's eyes gleamed with excitement.
"Stacking is possible?!"
That meant if he gathered enough Taijutsu knowledge, he could upgrade his raw physical power indefinitely.
Taijutsu was universally used by all ninjas.
If he focused on collecting physical combat skills, he could create a monstrous fighting ability.
And then…
There was Might Guy's Eight Gates.
If he stacked enough Taijutsu, could he kick Kaguya to death someday?
A smirk formed on his lips.
"From now on, I'll prioritize Taijutsu while saving Blackening Value for major ninjutsu."
But for now…
He would hold off on spending his points.
Meanwhile, outside—
Naruto had quickly finished cleaning, said his goodbyes to Iruka, and returned to the Ninja Academy.
Just in time.
There, wandering around, was Mizuki.
Naruto ran up to him.
"Teacher Mizuki, can you tell me about the Scroll of Sealing?"
Mizuki's expression stiffened.
His usual smile faded, replaced by a sharp, unreadable gaze.
For a brief moment, panic flashed in his eyes.
"Could my plan have been exposed…?"
Seeing Mizuki's tense reaction, Naruto felt a pang of nervousness.
But he quickly repeated what Fengxu had taught him.
"Teacher, don't be mad! I just overheard you mention it earlier."
"You said it contains powerful ninjutsu, so I thought… maybe I could learn one to help me graduate?"
Mizuki's eyes flickered—and then, just as quickly as before, his fake smile returned.
And in that moment…
A new idea took root in Mizuki's mind.
…
