Chapter 5: 5. Hokage’s Plan
…
Mizuki shared the location he had scouted earlier while feeding Naruto false hopes—convincing him that learning a powerful jutsu from the Scroll of Sealing would guarantee his graduation.
Naruto, following Fengxu's plan, revealed his own "intentions"—that if he failed tomorrow's exam, he was considering stealing the scroll.
The moment those words left Naruto's mouth, Mizuki's smile widened, and his tone became noticeably friendlier.
Perfect.
This fool had no idea.
Mizuki never planned to let Naruto live after stealing the scroll.
Once Naruto obtained the Scroll of Sealing, Mizuki would kill him and take it for himself.
And once Naruto was dead, perhaps the Nine-Tails would finally be released.
If that happened, the village would descend into chaos.
No one would even think about chasing him down.
With the scroll in hand, he could slip away unnoticed, carrying away techniques that would make him unstoppable.
The mere thought of it made Mizuki's blood boil with excitement.
…
Meanwhile, deep within the Hokage's Office, Hiruzen Sarutobi exhaled a slow puff of smoke from his pipe.
His sharp gaze was locked onto the crystal ball on his desk.
Telescope Technique.
It is a technique that allowed him to spy on any individual within Konoha, as long as he had memorized their chakra signature.
And at this moment, the person under his watchful eye was Naruto Uzumaki.
His expression remained impassive as he muttered to himself:
"So, Naruto actually uncovered Mizuki's petty schemes. Mizuki is such a useless fool."
Mizuki had been poking around for information on the Scroll of Sealing for weeks—and of course, Hiruzen had known all along.
But he hadn't intervened.
Why?
Because it didn't matter.
Mizuki was just an insignificant Chunin.
No matter how hard he tried, he would never pose a true threat to the village.
Besides, this was an opportunity.
A perfect chance to test Naruto and push him toward becoming a proper shining.
If Naruto successfully stole the scroll, Hiruzen could reward him with power.
After all, Naruto was the Jinchuriki of the Nine-Tails.
The Nine-Tails is a beast of mass destruction.
And as the loving grandfather who 'raised' Naruto, he would make sure to punish him accordingly afterward.
A shadow suddenly emerged from the darkness behind him—one of his personal Anbu guards.
The masked shinobi bowed respectfully.
"Hokage-sama, should we 'eliminate' Mizuki?"
Konoha was a tree, and any infected branches had to be cut off before they spread rot.
Hiruzen slowly put down his pipe, shaking his head.
"No. Just have Anbu monitor him."
Then, as if remembering something, he added:
"Also, fetch me a blank scroll."
He had decided.
Instead of the real Scroll of Sealing, he would prepare a fake one.
He would only include the Multi-Shadow Clone Jutsu—a technique Naruto's mother, Kushina, had been naturally gifted at.
Since Naruto was her son, he would surely learn it with ease.
The Anbu nodded and disappeared in a blur of motion.
…
After parting ways with Mizuki, Naruto sprinted across Konoha's rooftops.
His heavy footsteps echoed loudly with each leap.
Accompanying them was the sound of his carefree laughter.
Below, villagers peeked out from their windows and scowled.
And the moment they recognized who was running above them…
The insults poured in.
"Damned brat! Can't you go home quietly?!"
"Stupid demon fox! Always making a racket at night!"
"I swear, this monster gets more annoying every day!"
Naruto ignored them, but once he was safely inside his apartment, his smile vanished instantly.

Lying on his bed, he sighed and spoke in his mind.
"Fengxu, when are we moving tonight?"
The whole "steal it tomorrow" plan had just been a lie to deceive Mizuki.
This way, Iruka wouldn't get involved.
And Fengxu was certain that the conversation between Naruto and Mizuki had been monitored by Hiruzen.
By acting tonight, they could catch everyone off guard.
Who knows?
Maybe they'd even get their hands on the real Scroll of Sealing.
The thought of techniques like Flying Thunder God, Edo Tensei, or the Reaper Death Seal was too tempting to ignore.
"No rush. Let's take a few more laps outside first."
"Cause some trouble then we'll steal the scroll."
Naruto's face twisted in discomfort.
"Huh? Didn't we already cause enough trouble earlier?"
"I don't wanna hear them cursing me again… It's annoying."
Being insulted once or twice a day was one thing.
But if it happened too often, he feared it would resurface those emotions—and pass them onto Fengxu.
"It's fine."
"The more you hear it, the less it affects you."
'Besides, I earned 200 Blackening Points just from that short trip home. A few more rounds, and we might hit 2000.'
'Then I can exchange for the One-Tailed Chakra Mode!'
Fengxu had no intention of touching the Nine-Tails inside Naruto.
If he did, there was a risk that Kyuubi would attack his soul.
And since he has a completely separate soul, Minato or Kushina's chakra remnants might not intervene.
Not worth the risk.
"Fine, fine. But let me eat first!"
Naruto pouted as he grabbed a cup of instant ramen and boiled some hot water.
Then, he pulled out a carton of milk from the fridge.
Fengxu instantly noticed something off.
Every single item… was months past its expiration date.
His expression darkened.
"Damn these villagers."
"All they know is how to take their anger out on a child."
A cold, murderous chill ran through his mind.
One day, he would settle this debt with them.
And the ones who let this happen—Hiruzen and Danzo—would suffer the most.
As Naruto prepared to eat, Fengxu suddenly stopped him.
"Don't eat that expired garbage."
"This is my body too."
Naruto hesitated.
"But I don't have much money… and I still have two weeks until I get my next allowance."
"Plus, I've eaten this stuff before and never got sick—"
"I don't care."
"We're eating at Ichiraku Ramen."
Naruto blinked in surprise, then his face lit up with joy.
"Really?!"
He didn't know how Fengxu planned to get money, but for the first time…
He felt like he had someone he could truly rely on.

After eating at Ichiraku, Naruto followed Fengxu's plan—visiting every store that had ever sold him expired food.
He didn't cause a scene.
Instead, he sat outside their doors and talked loudly to passing villagers.
"This shop is the best! They always give me food for free!"
"They're so generous—they even sell expired stuff just for me!"
The shop owners fumed as villagers shot them furious glares.
Some even vowed never to shop there again.
One of the furious owners grabbed a broom and tried to chase Naruto away.
But Naruto—quick and agile—dodged every swing.
As he evaded, he shouted exaggeratedly:
"Oh no! The kind store owner is acting for the crowd!"

Fengxu smirked.
Now it was time.
"Naruto, let's move."
