Chapter 6: 6. Stealing the Scroll of Seals
Inside the Sarutobi Clan Mansion
Hiruzen Sarutobi observed the crystal ball with interest, a faint smile tugging at his lips.
"Naruto… this kid is really something. Very good."
The scene before him amused him. The store had been left in complete disarray after Naruto's antics, and he doubted it would recover anytime soon. But he didn't feel any sympathy for the owner—he knew that shop had been selling expired food to Naruto for years.
"Hmph, serves them right."
Hiruzen sighed, leaning back in his chair
"If only Asuma had Naruto's cunning and resourcefulness… I would have fewer worries."
His son, Asuma Sarutobi, had chosen to defy his expectations, leaving Konoha to join the Twelve Guardian Ninja. That decision had created a rift between them, one that Hiruzen had never fully bridged.
Now, his focus was on his grandson, Konohamaru.
He wanted the boy to be strong—not just in combat, but in mind as well. Perhaps getting closer to Naruto and learning a few of his tricks wouldn't be a bad idea.
As these thoughts ran through his mind, the crystal ball revealed Naruto once again on the move.
"…"
"Wait… that's my house?!"
The Sarutobi clan mansion wasn't far from the commercial district—a prime location in the heart of Konoha. During his long tenure as Hokage, Hiruzen had secured many benefits for his clan, though they kept a low profile compared to the Hyuga or Uchiha.
In truth, the Sarutobi clan was one of the most powerful in Konoha, their strength hidden beneath layers of secrecy.
"Heh, so Naruto figured it out, huh?"
A smirk tugged at Hiruzen's lips as he watched Naruto. The boy had completely outmaneuvered Mizuki, playing him like a fiddle.
"Good, good," Hiruzen murmured. "He's sharper than people give him credit for."
Turning his gaze to another crystal, he observed Mizuki lying on his bed, grinning like an idiot, lost in fantasies of mastering the techniques within the Scroll of Seals.
"Fool."
Disgust flickered in the Third Hokage's eyes.
"To think a mere academy teacher dared to scheme like this… No wonder he had to resort to manipulating an ungraduated genin."
Hiruzen clicked his tongue and spoke into the shadows.
"Remind Mizuki. Let him know Naruto has already started acting."
A masked figure—an ANBU operative wearing a white tengu mask—emerged from the darkness and bowed.
"Yes, Lord Hokage."
Then, with a flicker, the operative vanished.
Hiruzen turned back to the crystal ball, rolling up a half-copied scroll.
"This brat is really troublesome… I was just trying to slack off, and now my preparations are wasted."
He rose from his chair, stretching his old bones.
"Well, at least the Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu is the first entry in the scroll. Let Naruto steal it, learn it, and then have ANBU step in. That should be enough to satisfy his curiosity."
Still, he took extra precautions—removing other forbidden jutsu from the Scroll of Seals before Naruto could get his hands on them.
This scroll contained techniques that could devastate an unprepared user. Many were S-rank, forbidden for a reason.
Hiruzen wasn't underestimating Naruto—he knew the Uzumaki clan's natural affinity for sealing techniques. But even if Naruto had months to practice, there were techniques in the scroll that he simply wouldn't be able to learn.
"Tch. This is basically a handout, but he won't see it that way."
Hiruzen chuckled.
If only Fengxu could see him now. The boy would surely curse him out—calling him a shameless old man for hoarding techniques that rightfully belonged to Naruto.
But that was the way of the shinobi world.
"What are you doing here in the middle of the night?!"
"Sexy Jutsu!"
"Ahhhhhhh!"
A loud thud echoed through the halls as a guard collapsed, blood gushing from his nose.
Naruto grinned mischievously, dashing past the unconscious sentry.
His eyes scanned the storage shelves within the Sarutobi mansion until he found what he was looking for—
A large nameplate labeled:
"Scroll of Seals"
"Found it!"
Without hesitation, Naruto grabbed the large scroll from the shelf, slung it over his back, and sprinted out of the mansion.
At the same time—
Mizuki, having received the ANBU's disguised warning, arrived just in time to see Naruto vanishing into the night.
His face twisted in rage.
"That damn fox brat… he played me?!"
If Iruka hadn't come to question him earlier, he might have been completely fooled!
("Iruka," of course, was actually an ANBU in disguise.)
Now Mizuki had no time to involve others. Fueled by rage, he decided to handle this himself.
"You dare make a fool out of me, brat?!"
His killing intent surged.
As soon as he found a secluded area, he would end Naruto's life and take the scroll for himself!
"Fengxu, where are we going now? Home?"
Naruto's voice was filled with excitement as he raced through the village, the massive scroll weighing down his back.
This was a real adventure!
Compared to this, all his past pranks were just child's play!
"How can we train jutsu at home?"
Fengxu's voice echoed in his mind.
"Go to the northeast—the Forest of Death. There won't be many people there."
Naruto nodded eagerly and changed directions toward Konoha's infamous training ground.
Meanwhile, Fengxu examined the list of techniques extracted by the system from the stolen scroll.
[ Available Jutsu ]:
• Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu (500 points)
• Flying Thunder God Jutsu (3000 points)
• Edo Tensei (Incomplete) (1500 points)
• Rasengan (2000 points)
Fengxu's voice trembled with excitement
"Only four jutsu, but each one is incredible!"
Thanks to Naruto's Uzumaki bloodline, the chakra cost for these techniques was lower than expected.
Even if Naruto didn't have enough chakra now, he could borrow from Kurama.
But there was a problem—Fengxu didn't have enough blackening points to unlock them all.
"Damn it… I feel like I'm staring at a mountain of gold without a way to spend it!"
His mind raced.
"Mizuki… I hope you bring your A-game. Give me more blackening points!"
If Mizuki could push Naruto further into darkness, maybe he'd get enough points for Flying Thunder God.
Or at the very least—a portion of Kurama's chakra!
Naruto finally skidded to a stop inside the dense jungle.
Breathing heavily, he unrolled the scroll and scanned its contents.
• Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu
• Flying Thunder God Jutsu
• Edo Tensei
• Rasengan
His eyes widened.
"These are crazy! The last three are way too complicated, so let's start with the first one!"
If he could master this jutsu, he would totally show off in tomorrow's exam!
"Sasuke's gonna be so jealous!"
With renewed enthusiasm, Naruto began practicing the Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu—
But before he could fully complete it—
"Naruto, dodge! Hidden weapons incoming!"
Fengxu's voice roared in his mind.
Naruto's eyes widened—
He instinctively rolled to the side just as kunai zipped past his head—
…
