I Become Farmer in My Anime World

Chapter 18: Back Home

"Since we've found it, let's harvest it." After a short rest, Jay began harvesting the elephant grass in the area.

It only took Jay less than 10 minutes to harvest it all.

"Okay, that's it. It's time to go home... and look, the sun seems to be almost overhead, it's clearly time for lunch." Jay finished his harvest and decided to head back.

He felt that he had enough for the day. He went to look for elephant grass and would rest once he got home.

He also took out a rabbit from his den, deliberately showing it as proof that he had caught it while looking for animal feed.

He didn't want any gossip to slander him about the rabbit.

After all, as the saying goes, a human mouth can speak longer than the world's roads, so rather than making unnecessary fuss,

It was better to clarify things immediately.

It took almost an hour for Jay to arrive back at the village livestock area, and this time only Uncle Deli was on duty.

"Hey, Uncle, I'm back again," Jay greeted with a smile.

"Oh, you're back early, Jay. Looks like you've finished your assignment," Deli replied with a smile.

He was naturally happy to welcome Jay. As a good young man who contributes, Deli clearly enjoyed talking to Jay.

Moreover, the animal feed Jay brought was a large basket of elephant grass, the same one he had brought that morning.

"It's still the same as it was this morning, Uncle. It's just that I had a bit of unexpected luck," Jay replied, taking a plump gray rabbit from his basket.

"Wow, you're so lucky, Jay, to catch a rabbit on your first day as a forager." Jay had unexpectedly managed to get a good harvest in addition to elephant grass, and Deli was even more impressed with Jay.

"Yes, I was lucky. He was hiding in the elephant grass. It took a bit of effort before I finally caught him," Jay replied with a smile.

"Yes... it's 60 kg, more than in the morning. Will you record the excess feed for tomorrow, or what?" Deli asked about the excess feed Jay had collected.

This is because there's a special factor: sometimes, if a collector collects excess feed, he has the right to decide what to do with it.

Some workers take the excess feed home, while others record it in their collection logs, as additional savings for their work.

And Jay, who had no shortage of feed, naturally allowed the excess to be recorded.

"Just record it for tomorrow, Uncle. I don't need it at home," Jay replied.

"Okay then, you've completed your feed collection task and earned 5 work points. After this, you're free to do whatever you want," Deli said to Jay.

"Okay, Uncle, thank you," Jay replied happily, and headed back to his house.

As it was probably almost lunchtime, along the way, Jay encountered several aunts returning from the fields and rice paddies. Seeing Jay carrying a rabbit, many of them praised him and expressed envy.

"You're so lucky, Jay, bringing home a rabbit," one aunt complimented.

"Yes, auntie, this can be considered my beginner's luck," Jay replied again.

"Hey...look at you, Jay. You can already catch a fat rabbit at such a young age. Your mother is truly lucky," another aunt replied.

"Ah...hahaha...thanks, auntie, for the compliment," Jay replied again, a little embarrassed by the compliment.

"By the way, Jay, why are you back now?" Another aunt asked.

Because usually the women who cook are the ones who return at lunchtime, while the men rarely return unless they have something to do at home.

So, usually the men would wait around the rice paddies or fields to recharge while chatting or smoking a cigarette.

"I've finished my chores, Auntie, so I want to go home and help my mom make lunch," Jay replied, telling them he was done.

"Ehhh…you've finished your chores?"

"Is it that fast???

"Where do you work, Jay?" The aunties were surprised and immediately started asking questions.

"I work in the livestock feeder department, Auntie, and umm…sorry Auntie, I have to go home soon." Unable to bear the constant questioning, Jay quickly made an excuse and ran away.

Watching Jay leave, there was a discussion.

Another thing the aunts were talking about.

"Jay is a good boy, he's already completed the task quickly twice," one aunt commented.

"Yes, even though it's a task of gathering animal feed, who doesn't know the difficulty of finding it?" another also responded.

Indeed, as the aunts said, gathering a basket full of animal feed, weighing 50-60 kg, is no easy task.

They have to crouch and rake grass in a bent position, and sometimes have to move from one location to another because the grass they're looking for is in short supply.

Furthermore, during the scorching heat, it's truly challenging to find animal feed, and the work reward is only half the reward of a normal village worker.

So, not everyone enjoys the job if they have other options.

But for Jay, gathering animal feed is clearly a suitable job, as it allows him to explore deeper into the forest and reap unexpected rewards.

Returning to Jay's house, he saw that Nining, who had been playing all morning, had returned home to rest on the driveway.

Seeing her sweaty face, Jay knew his little sister must have been playing like crazy.

"Look, your face is covered in sweat. What have you been playing all day?" Jay asked as he entered the house.

"Ahhh...big brother, you're back," Nining replied happily, and then said, "I'm sorry.

"Bella and Stefan took me to look for big ants on the edge of the field, and we managed to catch a lot of them," Nining replied happily.

Village children have many games, one of which involves pitting large black ants against each other, baiting them with grass roots to catch them.

This was a game Jay used to play as a child.

"Oh...so where are your ants?" Jay asked again.

"Ummm...they died when they were trampled," Nining replied with a look of regret and embarrassment.

Seeing Nining's expression, Jay knew there must be a story behind it, so he asked again.

"Who stepped on the ant?" Jay asked again.

"That... that... Nining accidentally stepped on it while she was sitting," Nining replied, her face flushed with embarrassment.

"Oh, so it was Nining who killed the ant! What a poor ant! Has Nining buried it yet?" Jay teased again.

"Um... yes, sis. Nining kindly buried it back in the ant hole, and Nining prayed and apologized for accidentally stepping on it," Nining replied with a serious but playful expression.

"Wow... Nining is so kind! Because she's kind, I'll give you a present," Jay comforted Nining.

At the word "present," Nining perked up. "Present!!! What present do you want to give me?" Nining asked quickly.

"Here's the present!" She pulled out a rabbit from behind her.

"Wow... there's another fat rabbit... ahhh... we can eat meat again!!!" Nining shouted happily.

"Good, then leave it to Mom. She's in the kitchen to cook," Jay replied to Nining, handing her the rabbit. Jay had heard the sounds of cooking in the kitchen, so he knew his mother would be back.

"Mom... I brought a fat rabbit!" Nining shouted, running to the kitchen with the rabbit.

Seeing this, Jay simply smiled as he sat in the yard to rest.

While Jay was resting, Nining returned, this time excitedly asking Jay.

"Brother... Brother," Nining called, with a hesitant but excited expression.

"Um... what's wrong?" Jay asked.

"Here's some water for you to drink," Nining said, handing him a cup of water.

"Ohhhh... Nining is so considerate, thank you," Jay praised Nining.

When Nining saw Jay drinking the water, Nining innocently asked, "Brother, do I have to step on ants again tomorrow so you can bring home a rabbit?" Nining's spontaneous question startled Jay.

Jay immediately spat out the water he had drunk.

" Bruuuuuuu…ahhh…Nining you!!!
