Chapter 17: Wild Duck
"I guess I can only start separately!!" After some thought, Jay ultimately chose a separate method, where he would harvest the elephant grass and wild plants from the outermost direction.
And he wouldn't just focus on one spot; in other words, he had to choose a specific distance each time he used his space.
"If only my space could scan too, and distinguish which items to put into the space."
Previously, although Jay had used his spatial ability to store fish and jungle fowl,
Everything was done by directly looking at the objects, but this time, Jay needed the space he had available to store items without being seen.
But as if sensing Jay's anxiety, as Jay began to prepare to put a clump of elephant grass in an area 5 meters away from him,
A vision subconsciously appeared in his mind. He saw within his mind, within a 5-meter radius of his spatial ability, even though it was an area he couldn't see.
He could sense everything inside. Realizing this ability, Jay was naturally happy.
"Hahaha... I never thought space would answer my complaint and show me what I needed." With a happy and joyful feeling, Jay then began to observe what was within the 5-meter area of the elephant grass.
(Ohhhh... I can clearly see, there are several rocks and other plants besides elephant grass in this area. Okay, space, let's put only elephant grass in) Jay commanded space, and in an instant the area disappeared.
Jay soon moved and reappeared several meters away, this time still near the dense elephant grass area.
However, as he began to scan the area within the elephant grass, he was surprised to see several eggs within the elephant grass.
(Ehhhh... there are eggs... from their size and color, they're clearly duck eggs) Jay excitedly asked space to separate the elephant grass and the duck eggs he saw.
Afterward, with this experience, Jay began to move more quickly.
Fortunately, by relying on space, he didn't make much noise.
And during the process, Jay managed to harvest many duck eggs within his space.
( Wow…this time there are ducks in a nest, this is a good opportunity….) He was delighted to see a duck guarding the nest, without making much noise, and without causing any eggs to disappear.
Taking advantage of the moment, Jay sped up his actions and began to approach the area where the ducks were.
With slow steps, Jay stared at two ducks playing on the edge of the pond, still relying on his space.
He was separated by a bush, feeling wary; he knew that if the two ducks noticed his presence, the other ducks would surely react.
So he slowly moved closer, until they were about 5 meters apart. Without delay, Jay immediately put the two ducks in.
The two ducks that had disappeared at the edge of the pond didn't seem to attract any attention from the other ducks, which made Jay relieved.
( Luckily, I moved quickly, and the other ducks didn't notice.) Jay then turned his attention to the ducks that were closer to him.
Still using the same method, Jay put another duck into his space and quickly performed another duckling insertion operation.
Perhaps feeling uneasy, the flock of ducks realized that some of their friends had suddenly disappeared, and the previously noisy pond had suddenly become silent and still.
This was like an alarm for Jay, who was currently hiding behind a bush.
He felt the ducks' eyes focused on him.
(I've been found out. I can't hide anymore. Since sneaky tactics aren't working, let's go all out.) Jay decided to take a bold step.
He would ambush the flock of ducks in front of him.
(Okay…let's stand up and get ready…) Jay stood up and took a ready position, ready to surprise the ducks.
With the help of space, he could see that the pond in front of him wasn't deep, and there were no large rocks nearby, making it easier for Jay to move.
(5…4….3….2….1…now) Just as the ducks were becoming wary and preparing to flee, Jay's sudden, surprising movement caught them off guard, causing them to leap into the pond.
Jay's sudden movement clearly startled many of the ducks near him.
Meanwhile, several ducks in the middle and at the edge of the pond swiftly began to flee.
As for the ducks near Jay, all of them suddenly vanished as Jay stepped deeper into the flock of ducks.
"Quack...Quack...Quack..."
Flying and running... The panicked ducks quickly left the pond.
As for Jay, he felt quite satisfied with his decent duck harvest. "Hey...even though my pants got wet, the results were pretty good!" With a satisfied look, Jay looked at his harvest in his space.
Seeing that there were no more ducks around the pond, Jay then without hesitation began quickly putting in all the elephant grass.
And during this process, Jay unexpectedly still found several duck eggs scattered around. It took about 10 minutes for Jay to finish his harvest.
"Hey... I'm feeling pretty tired after harvesting so much," Jay leaned against a tree near the pond with a slightly tired but smiling face.
"Let's see the harvest..." Jay then began counting the ducks and duck eggs he had harvested.
"Wow... 16 ducks and 45 duck eggs... that's a lot!" Jay exclaimed excitedly as he saw his bountiful harvest.
"Added to that are the two rabbits, one jungle fowl, the three remaining jungle fowl eggs, and six medium-sized fish, I'd say this is enough food for several weeks."
But even so, collecting more is still good, because I also have to share with my relatives and close friends." Jay also wasn't greedy enough to eat everything he got, because when his family was in trouble and his relatives and close friends helped, he would definitely think of a way to repay them all.
"I'm hungry!!" Jay's stomach began to protest.
"Hey... it's only past 10, but I'm already hungry... Luckily, I still have half a chicken left to eat!" Jay, feeling hungry, took out the remaining grilled chicken from his space.
Upon taking it out, Jay realized that it was still as warm as when he ate it yesterday.
"Oh... the space really helps! This grilled chicken is still delicious and fragrant!!!!" Jay began to devour the grilled chicken in his hands with gusto.
After refueling, Jay immediately began to head elsewhere.
He felt he should take advantage of this opportune time to continue searching for elephant grass, and perhaps he might even get another good result.
Walking deeper into the forest east of his village, it took Jay even longer before he was able to find a spot with elephant grass.
"Ha...ha... I'm breathing a bit hard, I've been walking for over an hour in the forest before I found this area..."
And at a glance, the elephant grass here is much less than before..."
