I Become Farmer in My Anime World

Chapter 9: Going to the Forest

When Jay returned home, he immediately went to the warehouse, where he took a large bamboo basket and a fairly sharp sickle, not forgetting that he also brought an ax that looked a little rusty.

"What else should I prepare??" Jay asked himself as he decided to go up the mountain.

"Emmmmm..it seems like I'm still missing something!!!! Aren't some of the adventure videos in the wild that I've seen provide some advice and tips...but it's strange why I don't remember that.

Ahhh...I remember, I have to cover my feet and hands, to avoid insects and mosquito bites, I also have to prepare some provisions and drinks mixed with a little salt.

To keep my body energized, because after all I have to face unexpected situations." After that Jay added several items including clean cloth, as well as drinks and didn't forget matches and salt.

"Ok, now I'm ready to Go." Feeling excited, Jay immediately started walking towards the back mountain.

Where the mountain is a group of mountains called the King Adam Mountains.

It took less than 10 minutes from his house to enter the mountainous area, where traces of village activity could be seen.

Many trees appeared to have been cut down, and some crops, such as sweet potatoes, were planted, surrounded by a simple bamboo fence.

Treading the path, Jay began to recall his hunting memories.

And as he recalled these memories, he realized that a wealth of hunting knowledge was now flooding his mind.

It was like a constant prompt; when Jay passed a certain spot, he would know what to do.

With all this, Jay felt his journey into the inner mountain area become increasingly easier.

"There's a discovery…" Jay excitedly spotted a cluster of mushrooms familiar from his memory.

"Hahah... these are moon mushrooms, delicious mushrooms, even better than meat."

(Moon mushrooms, or "Gymnopus sp," are a type of wild mushroom that is safe to eat. They have a flavor that's even better than meat. Moon mushrooms grow and thrive during the rainy season. They reproduce in clusters in moist soil or on plant roots. These mushrooms have white or brownish caps and are pure white.)

"There are quite a lot of them, and I estimate there are over 3 kg. This is quite a good harvest." After picking all the large mushrooms, Jay continued his search.

He felt like walking through this mountain forest was like walking in his garden. What Jay didn't realize was that this was because he had just adjusted the memory of the hunting master he had acquired.

Until finally, Jay walked through some dense bushes. He sensed danger coming from the bushes, confused by it.

Jay stopped in his tracks, alert from his hunting experience. He knew this wasn't a good thing.

"Why do I feel dangerous when I try to pass through that thicket? Is there something wrong?" What's hidden there?" Jay hesitated, starting to think and observe the bush.

While observing carefully, Jay didn't forget to grab a wooden stick over a meter long and slowly began to part the bush in front of him.

Unexpectedly, his actions immediately caused movement in the bush, and before long, a green snake with a red tail appeared, hissing. Seeing this, Jay immediately realized that this was the source of the danger he was feeling.

"Hey... this master-level hunting instinct is really useful! Just look, if I wasn't careful, I would have been bitten.

Okay, just put it away, I'm too lazy to deal with it." In the end, Jay picked up the snake and threw it away from where he was.

From there, Jay began to carefully beat the bushes he was passing through, and after passing through the thicket, Jay saw something that made his eyes burn.

"Hahahah... I didn't expect that snake to be there for a reason. It was stalking its prey." Jay seemed to realize the saying that predators often stay close to their prey, and this time he saw it firsthand.

About 50 meters away from the thicket, several jungle fowl were seen foraging, and Jay knew there must be a jungle fowl nest nearby.

These jungle fowl have beautiful, eye-catching feathers. Although they're not very large, their meat and flavor are far superior to farmed chickens raised by humans.

They usually live in pairs or small groups and build nests for their eggs on the ground.

"How do I catch these chickens?" Jay wondered. He was excited when he saw a chicken about 20 meters away.

If it weren't for the cover of trees and bushes around him, he would have been spotted by the jungle fowl, not to mention its flying ability, which made it even more difficult to catch.

"Ahhh... why am I so stupid!!! I'm clearly a master hunter, how could I be so helpless?

Just make a device with the bamboo basket I have, and some sweet potatoes and potatoes I brought with me. That should be enough to lure the chicken into the trap.

Okay, it's decided, I'll catch this jungle fowl," Jay began building the trap with bright eyes.

He first looked for vines for the rope, and after finding some, he made it about 5 meters long. Afterward, he looked for a stick capable of supporting his large bamboo basket, and he also sprinkled the sweet potatoes he had brought with him.

With all these preparations, Jay hid behind a tree, concealing himself.

"As long as the chicken enters the trap, I can put it inside, hahaha!" Jay happily waited.

From Jay's surveillance, he spotted at least five to seven jungle fowl, four females and three roosters, happily foraging around the tree.

Looking up at the treetops, Jay spotted a rooster perched, seemingly observing the area. Seeing this, Jay had to say, jungle fowl have brains, don't think they're stupid.

It took a while for the jungle fowl to take the bait, and after patiently waiting for over ten minutes, Jay's eyes brightened when he spotted a rooster, seemingly attracted by the scent of the sweet potato he'd prepared as bait.

"Come on...come on...come on, come on, eat that sweet potato..." With hopeful eyes, Jay watched the rooster as it made its way toward the trap.

From there, he saw the rooster was initially wary, but after observing for a while and seeing nothing dangerous, it began to approach and walk under the bamboo basket.

Just as the rooster began to eat the sweet potato pieces, it disappeared.

"Hahaha, one's been caught!" Satisfied, Jay tried his luck again.

This time, it didn't take long; in less than a few minutes, a hen appeared to approach the trap, and this hen seemed much more cautious than the previous rooster.

However, the lure of the fresh sweet potato seemed to overcome his caution.

So, not long after, he began to take the bait, but after a few moments, the hen disappeared again.

"Hihihi...this is too easy!!!!" Jay held back his satisfied laughter when he caught two jungle fowl.

Just as he was hoping to catch a third, the rooster in the tree became alert and suspicious when he noticed that his two friends were missing.

And he began to crow...alerting the others...

"Ohhh...damn...I've been caught..."
