I Become Farmer in My Anime World

Chapter 10: Good Harvest

Knowing he'd been spotted, Jay stopped hiding and immediately rushed towards the nearest jungle fowl.

Unfortunately, due to the rooster's warning, the chickens immediately ran for their lives.

Staring at the fleeing chickens, Jay couldn't help but feel disappointed.

"Damn... what a shame! I thought I could catch another jungle fowl!" He looked sad and disappointed at the jungle fowl that had fled, given their flying abilities.

Jay, lacking a long-range weapon, clearly couldn't chase them.

"Ahhhh, there might be eggs around here!" Jay's initial sadness quickly turned to joy as he thought about the possibility of a jungle fowl nest nearby.

So without further delay, Jay immediately began searching the surrounding trees and areas where the jungle fowl were foraging.

And luckily, Jay quickly found the first nest containing eggs.

"Hahahah... I found some eggs." He took three jungle fowl eggs from a nest. Jay then began searching again.

Eventually, Jay found two more chicken nests not far from the first.

He also found five more chicken eggs, bringing his total to eight jungle fowl eggs and two chickens.

It was a good harvest, Jay was pleased with the results and continued his hunt.

Unfortunately, it seemed Jay's luck had run out.

After searching for over an hour, Jay found no more prey or good harvest, especially considering the scorching sky.

Jay knew it was lunchtime, so he quickly looked for a suitable place to eat.

"I need a safe place close to a water source," Jay thought, and finally began searching for the nearest water source.

There are several methods that can be used to determine where water sources are in the forest. The easiest way is to follow animals, but this method obviously wasn't feasible because Jay wasn't familiar with the forest area.

And he found no traces of herbivores nearby, so another method was to look for vine roots that could serve as an emergency source of drinking water.

However, at this time, the water source Ginger desired was a spring or small stream flowing through the forest.

Another method was to listen for and locate the source of flowing water and check the soil moisture in the forest.

The more moist the soil in the forest, the more likely there was a nearby water source.

Fortunately, after walking for a while and observing his surroundings, Jay soon heard the sound of flowing water.

"Ohhh... there's the sound of running water. Although it's not very strong, it's definitely more than enough to clean the food I'm about to prepare!" Jay was delighted and quickly followed the sound.

Fortunately, Jay soon spotted a small, clear stream flowing through the forest behind the trees.

The stream was about 2 meters wide and appeared quite shallow, approaching the stream.

Jay discovered that the stream was crystal clear, and when her hand touched it, she could feel the coolness of the water flowing over her body.

"This is clean water...so good!" Jay was pleased, and after further observation, he decided to start a campfire.

He looked for a suitable spot for a campfire, spotting a relatively dry spot on the edge of the small stream.

Jay began searching for firewood and gathering it, eventually adding some rocks from the stream.

Jay had successfully built a campfire and let the flames burn.

Jay then took a pot from his den and began cleaning some potatoes he had brought.

He then let the potatoes boil in the pot. While waiting for them to cook, Jay then took out a male jungle fowl.

He didn't forget to dig a few centimeters into the ground to bury the blood of the fowl he was about to slaughter.

As for why he did this, Jay wanted to make the stench of blood less noticeable to predators in the forest.

If he let the blood flow into the stream, he could be sure that any predators were drinking from the stream.

They would immediately move towards his area, and of course, it would endanger him.

So, to minimize the risk, he naturally chose to bury the blood of the chicken he slaughtered.

After burying the blood, Jay began cleaning the rooster, storing the innards and feathers back in his chamber.

Jay then skewered the cleaned rooster with a stick.

He then began roasting the chicken over a pre-made campfire.

Jay also brushed it with the spices he had brought from home.

It took about 40 minutes for the roast chicken to be fully cooked.

While waiting for the chicken to cook, Jay began filling his stomach with boiled potatoes, which had already been cooked.

After finally eating half of the roast chicken, Jay stored the rest in his chamber to share with his family.

After cleaning up the remains of the fire and ensuring there were no ash or burning embers, Jay decided to return to his village.

He estimated that it would take him at least 1 to 2 hours to return to his village.

This time, he decided to take a different route, wanting to see if he could harvest anything else on his way home.

Because of this decision, Jay discovered several wild plants and fruits on his way back.

Among them, Jay found a sweet and sour kiwifruit, and a tree full of ripe fruit.

Jay unceremoniously began harvesting it. Once he had enough, he continued his journey.

And like opening a luxurious gift box, he soon found more wild grapes, and not far from there, a jicama fruit he had accidentally discovered.

With this harvest, Jay could be said to have been very fortunate on his first trip into the forest.

When Jay arrived at the village, he hid all his harvest indoors and checked to see if any villagers were nearby.

Fortunately, he didn't encounter any villagers on his way back from the forest, perhaps due to the ongoing work schedule.

Jay returned around 4:00 p.m., and his afternoon workday lasted until 5:00 a.m.

He didn't encounter any villagers, but he remained vigilant throughout his journey.

Only when he arrived home did Jay feel relieved. "It's truly a blessing to have a house on the outskirts of the village. I don't have to worry too much about meeting other villagers." Afterward, Jay took out a jungle fowl, five eggs, and the 3 kg of moon mushrooms he had found.

Jay could already imagine the joy his family would experience when they saw his harvest.

But what Jay didn't expect was the unexpected surprise his parents would receive when they learned he had gone into the forest.
