Chapter 24: The Goddess
The people that were witnessing the fight were in shock. They had seen this image one time before. It was when the earthlings appeared.
This was the image of the goddess, and she was currently fighting the monster, rays of light were flying all over the place.
Religion wasn't very popular in this world, many people hated the goddess, but they knew she existed, that was a fact.
That's why they couldn't oppose the church or her authority directly. If she wanted, she could make them all perish in the blink of an eye.
Gods were creators and destroyers. They would create their own worlds with their own rules. This was their play ground, they could do whatever they wanted in their worlds.
At least thats what they knew from books and stories. Right now they saw that the goddess was struggling against the monster.
She couldn't do anything... so it was all a lie? A God can't destroy the world in the blink of an eye?
Most people started cheering for the monster, they wanted to be free from the goddesses rule.
Coal was jumping around avoiding the goddesses attacks. She couldn't hit him, even though he was a giant target.
The more she attacked the denser the clouds became. All of a sudden a loud bang was heard in the sky, thunder!
People looked up at the sky, they hadn't seen this in so many years... weather!
Some people called it curse, others called it blessing. But the matter is that it has been lifted!
Coal grinned, he could sense the divine power was running out. He didn't have to engage in combat with her at all, he just had to continue dodging her strikes until the energy is depleted.
The goddess had a main body, but she wasn't a central entity. All of her power was "her", and all of her power was sharing one consciousness.
She could interfere directly sending in more of "her", but that would have consequences. Was this dog really worth getting punished by the laws of the universe?
The energy she had right now was enough to kill the dog, but she was holding back as to not hurt the humans. If she would descend upon the world, even a single thought would be enough to disintegrate this dog.
She, in fact, had already descended once.
When she faced Zero, but that was in a designated space, with a very small amount of energy.
So she didn't have to face any punishment from the universe.
She looked around... these humans... they are cheering for the dog! She was furious, she couldn't believe she even thought about descending, and facing a punishment, just for the sake of those lowly beings!
She gathered all the remaining energy into a sphere. It lit up the entire city, as if a second sun had been formed in her hands.
The moment she condensed the sphere, heavy rain poured down. The sun had been covered by the thick dark clouds. The only light source at this point was the sphere.
And in a moment, it became dark. The only thing that could be perceived was the sound of rain and thunder. A lightning bolt lit up the city for a split second. All that Coal saw in that moment was a wicked smile on the goddesses face.
"Boom." the goddess whispered. The moment she said that singular word, the world went quite. No rain, no thunder, not even a breath could be heard.
It's as if Coals five senses had been turned off. What happened?
The city lit up one final time, and then everything was gone. That final flash was so bright it could be seen on the other edge of the world.
This flash was the last view of many. The sphere she condensed was indeed a star. What had happened is, it reached a supercritical state, and went supernova.
That is what annihilated the entire city.
So it wasn't a lie after all? The gods could easily destroy a whole world without any issues? That's too crazy! Defeating the goddess was never an option... was it?
The star the goddess produced was incomplete and inferior, that's the best the goddess could do. Even if she poured more energy into the star, it would only become bigger.
Usually true gods, even the weakest ones, were able to create at least a stable planet. Such gods couldn't create an inhabitable planet on their own.
They would leech off other gods solar systems and place their planets in them.
This goddess was able to create a star! Although incomplete... but nonetheless a star!
Not all stars are able to go supernova, usually unstable stars just die out and fall apart.
If the goddess gained a little insight on how to complete the star... scary! The sheer amount of energy this goddess can condense is insane.
But even an inferior and incomplete star is a star, the amount of energy output was enough to destroy the whole city.
Coal was lying in the middle of the crater. Breathing is hard, his vision was blurry. He couldn't move his limbs.
He was burnt and bleeding, this was a horrific sight. He tried his best to not lose consciousness, he felt like he would die the moment he did.
A faint smile appeared on his face, he didn't die, he survived the full strength of the goddess! Zero could never say he was useless ever again!
He tried to stand up, but fell back down, his front leg was broken.
He tried to cheer himself up, but no matter how stupid he was, he knew that this was barely a fraction of the goddesses power.
If the power from one statue was enough to reduce him to such a state... then what would Zeros scythe be able to produce?
This frightened him, he was going around with someone who had such power.
Coal closed his eyes. That day the world has lost over 300.000 people.
