Chapter 32: Chapter 32 : Dragon
Linggis stared at the screen with unwavering focus. His fingers moved swiftly, repositioning, dodging attacks, and executing combo after calculated combo. The Abyssal Wyrm, a massive black dragon with gleaming obsidian-like scales, roared fiercely, shaking the entire screen with its Abyssal Roar skill. Linggis quickly activated Shadow Heil, a skill to dodge by vanishing into shadows.
"I know this is tough," he muttered, wiping sweat from his forehead, "but a 5-second delay between area attacks? That's your weakness."
One Hour Passed.
Linggis was still struggling. The dragon's HP hadn't even dropped halfway, while he had already consumed more than fifty percent of his healing potions. The Abyssal Wyrm's attacks were too unpredictable. It summoned black spikes from the ground every time its HP dropped by 10%. Linggis had to keep moving, avoiding those traps.
"My skill bar is empty again. All on cooldown," Linggis groaned. He racked his brain, using every corner of the arena to create space. "There has to be a pattern here. Focus."
Three Hours Passed.
After identifying the dragon's attack patterns, Linggis began to turn the tide. He exploited the brief windows between the Abyssal Wyrm's area attacks to strike its weak spot: the silver scales on its chest. Relentless strikes started to injure the dragon. But suddenly, the dragon entered Phase 2: Abyssal Rage.
"So, you have a second phase too? Of course," Linggis muttered, sipping stale iced coffee. The Abyssal Wyrm became far more aggressive, attacking relentlessly. The area attacks that once had delays now overlapped, leaving Linggis barely in control.
"If I fail now, all this progress will be wasted." Linggis' eyes never left the screen. He was in too deep to back out.
Five Hours Passed.
Linggis' room was filled with the constant clacking of keys and the loud hum of an overheating computer fan. His eyes grew heavy, but adrenaline kept him going. The Abyssal Wyrm's HP finally dropped below 25%. But then the dragon unleashed its ultimate skill: Abyssal Eclipse, plunging the entire arena into darkness.
"Darkness? So, this is a game of hide and seek now?" Linggis squinted, trying to track the dragon's movements through the sound of its steps and breathing. Calmly, he activated Echo Vision, a rarely used auditory skill with a short duration. In the darkness, he managed to evade a lethal attack.
Eight Hours Passed.
Linggis was physically and mentally exhausted. His potions were gone, his healing skills still on cooldown, and the dragon had grown even more ferocious. The Abyssal Wyrm's HP was down to 10%, but Linggis knew the final attack would be the deadliest.
"I'm not losing now," he declared, steadying his breath. He used his remaining buff skills to amplify his final attack. With a clever strategy, he waited for the Abyssal Wyrm to activate Abyssal Blast—a massive attack with a five-second charge time. As the dragon opened its mouth to strike, Linggis leaped toward its head with the Shadow Dive skill.
Ten Hours Passed.
A notification finally appeared on the screen.
"Boss Abyssal Wyrm defeated! Congratulations, you have completed the Hidden Boss challenge!"
Linggis froze for a few seconds, unable to believe he'd done it. His hands trembled from exhaustion, but a satisfied smile crept across his face. "Finally... it's over."
But before he could savor his victory, a new notification popped up:
"Player Rana2452 has entered the chat room."
Linggis stared at the screen, bewildered. "Wait, what's this?"
On the other side, a girl with dark blue hair looked frustrated as she typed rapidly on her monitor.
"Ten hours, huh? So you chose that dragon over me, Linggis? Let's see who's more stubborn."
Linggis let out a long sigh. "Why does it feel like she's more dangerous than the dragon?"
