Chapter 30: big changes

Alex had been working nonstop these last few days.

He ran into a problem with the lithography machine—the size was far too large.

It took him time to scale it down to something the size of a large refrigerator.

Thanks to this challenge, Alex's brain capacity began increasing at an extraordinary rate.

He reached the point where he could understand the workings of anything with just a glance.

Alex found it magical—having so much information analyzed and categorized instantly.

It was as if he had personally researched and created those things himself.

One day, after waking up, Alex noticed he could see something like data lines rising and falling in the air—it reminded him of the movie Lucy.

He also began hearing many voices, but it wasn't like before when his senses had simply been enhanced.

These were voices inside his mind. The sound was so loud it could drive anyone insane—but Alex felt no discomfort.

When he wished for it to stop, all the noise ceased. Silence.

Alex stood up and went to the bathroom to clean himself up. He was already used to his daily transformations, but this time the changes were too great—and he was noticeably quieter than usual.

Melinda and Jonas noticed Alex having breakfast in silence—he didn't even greet them.

After eating, he went to the lab. He needed to understand what was happening to him.

"What's wrong with him? It's like he didn't even see us," Melinda asked, visibly worried.

"I don't know… Should I go talk to him?" Jonas offered.

Melinda looked toward the garage and nodded.

Jonas stood up, gave his wife a reassuring look, and headed to the garage.

...

When Jonas entered, Alex was silently cleaning. It seemed he hadn't even noticed Jonas come in.

"Son, are you okay? Your mother's worried. You've been ignoring us all morning… Is something wrong?" Jonas asked.

Alex stopped what he was doing, looked at Jonas, and finally replied:

"It's nothing. I've just been thinking about some things… I apologize."

He sincerely meant it—he'd been so occupied with the changes happening to him today that he hadn't noticed anything else.

Jonas, seeing nothing outwardly wrong, didn't know what else to say. After watching his son for a while, he spoke up:

"How about a father-son weekend?"

"And where would we go?" Alex asked, continuing his cleanup.

"I'm not sure… You tell me. How about it?" Jonas offered.

Alex thought for a moment. He wasn't really interested in anything outside of researching new technologies.

Activating his new telepathic ability, Alex sensed his dad was interested in watching football.

"How about we go catch a football game at the stadium?" Alex suggested.

A smile spread across Jonas's face. Enthusiastically, he said, "This Saturday, the Dallas Cowboys are playing against an out-of-town team. How about it?"

"Sounds good," Alex replied with a smile.

After a brief chat, Jonas left—he still had work to do.

Now alone, Alex closed the lab door and began studying his newly acquired abilities.

After some time, Alex felt satisfied. These were his new powers as of today:

Telekinesis: The ability to move objects with his mind.

Telepathy: The ability to read minds and communicate mentally.

Instant Knowledge Absorption: The ability to learn anything instantly, including languages and complex skills.

Matter Manipulation: The power to reorganize atoms and molecules—allowing him to control matter on a subatomic level.

Alex stared silently at the list of abilities, wondering what that strange being had given him.

Aside from Mia and Dr. Dolittle, he hadn't seen any other movie or TV characters appear again.

He hadn't encountered anything supernatural either—so why was he becoming so… abnormal?

He didn't want to overthink it, but he was beginning to fear himself.

What was he becoming? He sensed this transformation wasn't finished.

Before, he couldn't feel it—but now the sensation had grown stronger. With every passing moment, he was becoming more powerful, more intelligent, more unnatural.

He felt a kind of infinite energy coursing through every cell in his body.

Now, he wondered—what name should he give this energy?

This is the author. I'll be posting only one chapter today, thus marking the end of Volume 1.

Maybe some of you won't agree with the absurd powers of the MC, but that was always my plan for him.

Have you ever watched the movie Lucy?

Some of Alex's abilities were inspired by that film. His capacity to alter matter on a subatomic level is crucial for the MC to break free from the control of money, granting him complete autonomy — no longer needing to worry about anyone blocking his financial paths.

Hope you enjoy it. See you next time...
