I'm in the world of Young Sheldon TV series

Chapter 33: Tour

The day had finally arrived for the parents' meeting. Melinda, Jonas, and Alex went to Sheldon's house.

All six parents gathered to talk about their beloved children.

While they smiled and greeted each other, Alex went out with Sheldon and Paige to explore the house.

When they reached the bedroom, Sheldon and Paige entered, and Alex lingered at the doorway. He was familiar with the place and had visited before.

"Since we'll be spending a few hours together, I've made a list of activities to keep us occupied," Sheldon said, beginning to explain the plan.

Alex nearly rolled his eyes. Paige just looked around the room.

"My Little Pony—I love My Little Pony," Paige said as she walked over and picked up the toy that was on Missy's bed.

"That belongs to my sister. It's not part of the tour," Sheldon responded.

"I share a room with my sister too. It's super fun," Paige said cheerfully.

Alex watched silently.

"You're mistaken," Sheldon said, turning back to continue the tour.

"This is my desk. This is my computer..."

Paige set the toy aside and followed Sheldon. Alex had to admire Paige's patience.

"And this is my autographed photo of Professor Proton," Sheldon said with pride.

Alex stepped closer to look. He'd tried watching the show with Sheldon once, but found it pretty dull.

"Do you watch the show?" Sheldon asked.

"No, I'm not a fan," Paige replied.

"What? How could you not?" Sheldon looked stunned.

"I think he's really boring," Paige said.

Alex noticed Sheldon's eyes widen in disbelief. Paige didn't catch that and continued talking.

"Honestly, he dumbs everything down."

When she looked back at Sheldon, she saw his eyes closed and his deep breathing. Then she glanced at Alex and mouthed: What's his deal?

Alex shrugged, as if to say: Who knows?

After a few deep breaths to calm himself, Sheldon resumed the tour, though his expression screamed boredom.

...

Time passed, and Paige and Alex began to feel bored. Sheldon pulled out a chessboard.

"If you're interested, we can play a variant with a new piece I invented."

"Sounds fun. What's the new piece?" Paige asked, tossing Missy's toy aside.

Alex had been observing Paige. Since she arrived, she seemed more interested in Missy's toys than acting like an academic prodigy.

"A wizard. It can't be captured. It can teleport and swap places with any piece," Sheldon explained.

"Yeah… but there's a big flaw," Paige said.

"What flaw?" Sheldon asked.

"Whenever someone's in check, it can just switch places with the king. The game would never end," Paige explained.

"I knew that. You passed the test," Sheldon replied, trying not to look silly.

But Alex knew he hadn't thought of that.

"How about I show you both my new lab?" Alex suggested.

"You have a lab?" Paige asked, intrigued.

This boy was nothing like Sheldon—he watched quietly, as if everything were part of a TV show.

Paige was very curious about Alex. She wanted to find out who was smarter between them.

"Yeah, it's in his garage. It's nothing special," Sheldon chimed in.

"You haven't been there in a while. I've completely remodeled it. This is a great chance to show you around. What do you say?" Alex offered again.

"Sounds great. I'm super curious," Paige said, hopping off the bed.

"What about you, Sheldon? I promise you'll like it," Alex said, hoping to spark Sheldon's interest.

After thinking for a bit, Sheldon agreed. The last time he was there, Alex had said he was building his own computer.

After notifying their parents of where they were going, Sheldon and Paige were taken by Alex to his house.

Even though he couldn't show off things like the ARC reactor or the 3D hologram projector, there were still a few inventions he could safely reveal.

His goal was mostly to inspire Paige and Sheldon.

Once they reached the garage door, Alex didn't open it right away. He turned to them with a serious expression.

"Anything you see in here must remain secret. Don't tell anyone!" he warned sternly.

Paige and Sheldon glanced at each other, startled. They began to wonder what secrets lay beyond that door.

In truth, Alex just wanted to mess with them. Before leaving earlier, he'd hidden everything that needed hiding and left only what he planned to show.

"We promise not to tell," Paige said with a serious face—though Alex saw her eyes sparkle with excitement.

Before Sheldon could respond, Alex opened the door.

"Please, come in."

I'm not sure if the interaction between the characters turned out well. Feel free to comment and share what you think.

I read the comments — some people like my novel, others don't. All I can say is that I can't please everyone.

As a novelist and writer, I'm still gaining experience. I make a lot of mistakes that later make me think I could have done things differently.

But I don't want to delete the novel just because some things didn't turn out great or could have been better.

All I can do is accumulate this experience and do my best next time.

That's all for today. Until next time...
