I'm in the world of Young Sheldon TV series

Chapter 34: Laboratory

Alex stepped to the side and made a welcoming gesture for both of them to enter.

Sheldon and Paige exchanged glances and stepped forward one after the other.

As soon as they passed through the door and entered the garage, before they could look around, Alex quickly closed the door, plunging the room into darkness.

When he renovated the interior, he paid close attention—he'd fully sealed off the space from any external light sources.

Alex walked ahead. With his ability to see in the dark, it was nothing unusual for him.

As he moved silently, he glanced at Paige and Sheldon, noticing that both looked a little uneasy. That made Alex happy.

"Sorry—scaring you was just to create a dramatic effect when I turn on the lights," Alex explained.

"Only little kids are afraid of the dark," Sheldon said.

"Really? Your voice says otherwise," Paige teased.

From her tone, Alex could tell Paige was better at hiding her emotions. He explained:

"Which of you wants to clap twice?"

"Why clap twice?" Sheldon asked.

"Simply put, I installed a sound sensor module—it can intercept claps and turn the lights on or off through sound," Alex explained to Sheldon.

"Wow, that's so cool! Can I try?" Paige asked.

"Of course," Alex replied with a smile.

Paige quickly raised her hands and clapped loudly—twice.

Clap. Clap.

At the same time, LED lights turned on—starting with a soft glow that gradually brightened, illuminating the room around them.

Alex programmed it that way so their eyes could adjust gradually.

Imagine waking up at night in total darkness, and then suddenly turning on your phone screen without dimming it—the harsh light burns your eyes.

Once the room was fully lit, Alex spread his arms like Tony Stark unveiling the Jericho missile to the military.

"Welcome to my sacred refuge!" he said with a smile.

Paige and Sheldon looked around, stunned. Who would've thought that a rundown-looking garage could hide such a beautiful lab inside?

Both remained silent, each wandering in different directions to explore every corner of the lab.

Alex simply stood quietly, waiting for the perfect moment to introduce a few inventions.

...

Paige walked to the central area where a counter held various chemistry instruments. Her eyes wandered to the glass shelves filled with colorful liquids:

Green, blue, red—so many shades. Then she noticed some equipment: Centrifuge, optical microscope, ultra-low temperature freezer, and more.

Sheldon had moved to the wall on the left—it had no counters, only a massive pane of glass stretching from floor to ceiling.

The glass panel covered half the side wall, and what caught Sheldon's eye were the scientific formulas scrawled across it.

On the right side, besides a visible computer, sat electronic components: capacitors, coils, chips, circuit boards, repair tools, and much more.

Alex liked light tones, so he painted the walls in matte gray. The floor was smooth white with a polished finish—at the center, a large atomic symbol stood out.

"Is that a computer? I've never seen anything like it!" Paige said, staring at the ultra-thin screen.

"Yes—I built it myself. Want to try it out? Compared to current models, it's miles ahead," Alex said.

"Really? What are its specs?" Sheldon asked this time.

"It has a 7.5GHz processor, 124 cores and four times more threads.

"It runs at 60 to 120 watts. The memory is DDR6 with eight 32GB RAM sticks, totaling 256GB in quad-channel."

"Each stick runs at 7000MHz, with low voltage down to 1.2V."

"Four SSDs of up to 10TB each—totaling 40TB. There's also an M.2 drive with 1TB capacity."

"Eight USB 3.0 ports and a 2000W power supply."

"A QLED 10K monitor with 440Hz refresh rate and 0.1ms response time, paired with an RGB mechanical keyboard and a high-precision mouse," Alex said with a grin."

"How is that even possible?" Sheldon exclaimed.

"You're not from the future… are you?" Paige asked.

For both of them, this level of tech felt at least a few years ahead of its time.

After a moment of surprise, Paige was the first to recover.

"What's that?" Paige asked, puzzled. She'd already noticed a black object resembling a glass slab sitting next to the computer.

Alex looked at the tablet Paige had pointed to—and smiled, because everything was unfolding exactly how he wanted.
