Chapter 35: Medical Software
Alex noticed the tablet on the table and walked over to pick it up. After pressing a button, the screen lit up. Swiping a few times, Alex handed the tablet to Paige.
Paige accepted it with interest—she had just seen Alex using his fingers to operate the portable-looking screen. Looking at the operating system, she found the design very sophisticated.
Sheldon came up behind, also curious about this touch-interaction technology.
"What's this device called?" Paige asked.
"You can call it an iPad or Tablet," Alex replied.
"And what does it do?" Sheldon asked.
"It has many functions—I can make calls, record audio, take pictures, access the internet, play games. It's pretty versatile," Alex explained.
"That's awesome—did you build it yourself?" Paige asked.
"Yes and no. Actually, they were invented last year—I just made a better version," Alex said.
"What's that icon named 'Doctor Robot'?" Paige, who was studying the tablet, had noticed an app with a robot wearing a head mirror and a stethoscope.
"That's a medical software I'm developing," Alex said as he walked to the bench nearby.
Opening one of the drawers, he pulled out a device that looked like a handheld radar—or to some, like a hair dryer.
Sheldon and Paige silently watched Alex retrieve the object.
"This is a scanner. It works in tandem with the medical software," Alex explained.
The idea came to him when he realized he could use a database containing over ten thousand medical procedures. He synced it with the software, which allows for two usage modes:
Manual input: the user describes symptoms via a form.
Automated scan: uses the scanner for rapid diagnosis.
The diagnosis results are filtered using intelligent big data—providing up to 90% accuracy. With the scanner, the accuracy rate could reach 99%. Alex joked that it felt like a bargain-bin version of Baymax.
"Can I?" Alex asked.
Paige handed back the tablet to him. After a few operations, Alex gave it back to her. When Paige looked at the screen, she saw a white interface with a human figure outline.
"Who wants to try it?" Alex asked.
"Me!" Paige quickly responded. She was thrilled by everything she'd seen so far. As for Sheldon, Alex noticed he was far more reserved.
"How do I use this?" Paige picked up the scanner and handed the tablet to Sheldon.
"There's a trigger on the bottom. Just point it at the person you want to scan and press the button—but hold it down until the scan finishes."
"Who wants to be the test subject?" Paige said, smiling at Sheldon.
Sheldon saw the look and quickly replied, "No way—who knows if this thing is safe?"
"It's okay, Sheldon—it's very safe. Trust me," Alex said with a friendly smile.
Looking at Paige and Alex, Sheldon felt like they were conspiring against him...
After much persuasion, Sheldon agreed to be the test subject.
He stood in the middle of the room, while Paige and Alex stood a few meters away discussing settings.
"This distance is good," Alex confirmed—the scanner had captured Sheldon's full body within frame.
Looking at the screen, Paige noticed that the figure's outline turned green.
"Just press the button and wait for the scan to finish," Alex explained again.
"Got it—trust me, I'm a pro at this," Paige joked.
"You guys taking forever—just get it over with," Sheldon said, clearly annoyed.
Paige pressed the start button, and the scanner began scanning.
On the tablet screen, she saw a line move up and down—showing the scanner in operation.
Five seconds later, the scanner completed its scan, and a loading screen appeared.
"All done—now we just wait for the result," Alex said and showed the tablet to both of them.
They gathered and stared at the screen in silence. Soon, the screen shifted and displayed the result.
They read: The patient is in a healthy state, but presents the following findings for observation: Cryptorchidism — also known as undescended testicles. A medical consultation is recommended.
"Your medical system actually works," Sheldon said.
Paige and Alex looked at Sheldon with strange expressions—but neither commented on the result.

I don't know many technical terms, so I don't want to go into too much detail; instead, I'll explain each chapter in the simplest way possible. Some people want more interactions with Mia and Missy. I'm aware of that, and I'm preparing something for the future. Regarding romantic partners, I feel that it's not appropriate for 10-year-old children to be dating. List of romantic interests: Mia, Missy, and Paige.
That's it for now. Until next time...
