I'm Just a Nobody, Why Are You Calling Me a God?!

Chapter 19: Attempting Cultivation

Back in his room, Wang Yanfei carefully locked the door and pulled out the electromagnetic resonance staff from behind his back. Sitting down, he stared at the staff in his hands, taking a deep breath. His fingers trembled slightly—not out of fear, but anticipation.

"Let's give it a try," he muttered to himself, setting the resonance staff to its lowest power level and positioning it against his left arm.

"Boom!"

The moment the staff made contact with his skin, a violent shockwave spread through his arm and rippled across his entire body. His face turned pale as cold sweat beaded on his forehead. A sharp pain shot through his left arm, the sensation resembling a deep, dull tearing inside.

"This force… is harsher than I expected," he murmured, clenching his teeth as he forced himself to stay upright, resisting the urge to collapse. He focused all his attention on his body's reaction. Jade Force quickly began circulating on its own, flowing like a warm stream toward his left arm. Although he couldn't see the changes in his bones, he could distinctly feel a subtle internal vibration, as if countless microscopic fractures were being mended.

Minutes passed, and the sharp pain gradually faded, replaced by an intense itching sensation. He flexed his fingers, confirming that the pain had subsided and the bone had seemingly healed.

"Not bad." Wang Yanfei let out a long breath and rotated his arm, feeling that it was slightly stronger than before. His eyes gleamed with determination. "Let's keep going!"

This time, he aimed the resonance staff at his right arm. The instant the staff struck, the familiar impact resonated through his bones, the pain piercing straight into his core. Wang Yanfei clenched his eyes shut, his breathing ragged, but his Jade Force responded automatically, surging once again to repair the damage.

"I'm not done yet!" he growled through gritted teeth.

Over and over, he shattered and repaired his bones, pushing them to their absolute limits. Each wave of pain surpassed the last, but as the repairs completed, he could feel his bones growing stronger. Jade Force worked like a master craftsman, slowly refining and reinforcing his skeletal structure.

By the tenth round, he was drenched in sweat, his entire body soaked as if he had been fished out of a river. Yet, his eyes shone with an unwavering resolve. Each time his bones healed, he felt a new level of unshakable strength within them.

Finally, after the twentieth impact, he lowered the staff and let his arms fall to his sides, slumping against the wall and gasping for breath. His Jade Force continued circulating, slowly stabilizing the changes in his body. His bones no longer felt fragile or aching—instead, they radiated an unprecedented resilience.

Though he couldn't see the transformation, he could sense it through his Jade Force. His bones had been completely reinforced, now as solid as jade itself. He raised his hands, curling his fingers into fists, marveling at the newfound power and stability within them.

Exhausted, Wang Yanfei chuckled softly, murmuring to himself, "It worked… my arm bones have finally reached the jade state."

Leaning against the wall, he closed his eyes, allowing himself a brief moment of rest, savoring the changes in his body.

Wang Yanfei was still deep in sleep, the exhaustion from last night's intense training lingering in his body. Suddenly, loud knocking echoed from the door, followed by Xiaoxiao's voice:

"Brother! Get up! How long are you planning to sleep? Mom and Dad have the day off and are waiting to take us out!"

He groaned, furrowing his brow as he rolled over and buried his face into the pillow. His muffled voice barely escaped: "Just five more minutes… only five…"

But his door slammed open with a loud bang.

Xiaoxiao stood at the entrance, arms crossed, looking down at him with a mix of amusement and exasperation. "Brother, you totally stayed up late last night, didn't you? Look at you—you're turning into a total shut-in."

She marched over and yanked his blanket forcefully.

With no other choice, Wang Yanfei sat up, rubbing his groggy eyes. His voice was weak with drowsiness. "Yeah… trained a bit too late last night… But never mind that. Where are we going today?"

"The History Museum," Xiaoxiao said, rolling her eyes. "Now hurry up and get ready, don't make Mom and Dad wait."

Dragging himself out of bed, Wang Yanfei yawned and quickly washed up. The reflection in the mirror showed a slightly tired face, but knowing he'd get to spend the day with his family, his energy gradually returned. He changed into casual clothes and headed downstairs.

His parents were already waiting in the living room. His mother glanced at him and teased, "Yanfei, if you took any longer, we'd have to call this a lunch outing instead."

"I got up fast, okay? Blame my sister for dragging me out of bed," Wang Yanfei shot back, throwing Xiaoxiao a playful glare.

Inside, the museum was bustling with visitors—families and students gathered around various exhibits, engaged in quiet discussions or listening to guides.

The Wang family found themselves in the section titled "The Dark Age Before the Rise of the Eastern Nation." A massive relief sculpture loomed before them, depicting the opulence of the Baihu Yueqi Dynasty. The palace in the artwork shimmered in golden splendor, its intricate carvings exuding an aura of supreme authority. But the background revealed a stark contrast—barren landscapes and emaciated citizens with hollow, despairing eyes.

Xiaoxiao wrinkled her nose, reading the inscription aloud:

"The Baihu Yueqi Dynasty lasted over thousand years… ruling by divine right, branding all rebels as defiers of fate? Who gave them that right?"

Standing before a historical projection, Wang Yanfei watched as soldiers whipped skeletal laborers, forcing them to pull heavy millstones like beasts of burden. He muttered under his breath, "A system like this lasted for two thousand years? Unbelievable."

Nearby, a guide's solemn voice explained:

"The Baihu Yueqi Dynasty's longevity was not just due to violence and oppression. They skillfully manipulated the concept of divine fate, binding their surname to legitimacy. Even when rebels overthrew emperors, they had to claim Baihu Yueqi ancestry to gain public acceptance. The cycle of oppression continued, disguised as tradition."

Xiaoxiao frowned. "But if everyone knew it was fake, why didn't they just get rid of that name? Why care if the people accepted it or not?"

Her mother gently patted her head and pointed toward another section of the exhibit. "Because the people were trapped by their own beliefs. After two thousand years of indoctrination, Baihu Yueqi was synonymous with destiny. Fear and ignorance kept them bound to a fabricated stability."

Xiaoxiao pursed her lips, unwilling to accept such an excuse. "So they just kept suffering forever?"

Her mother simply smiled and led them deeper into the exhibit. "Come, let's look at the next display. You might find your answer there."
