Chapter 76: Chapter 76: Gaal Brons = Wizard King August?
The Southern part of the Ishgar Continent.
Temporary gathering site, Dark Guild Lizard Puppet.
The temporary base was utterly destroyed. From an aerial view, amidst the dense forested mountains, there lay a massive, dirt-colored clearing stretching hundreds of meters where everything had been completely demolished.
All buildings within this clearing were obliterated.
Unusual-looking mages were scattered across the ground, most of them barely clinging to life.
Gildarts sat on a large box filled with crushed fruits, as he chuckled to tears over a half-shredded newspaper in his hands, "Hahahahaha. What was Gaal thinking? Isn't this too diabolical? He completely exposed them!"
Gildarts laughed heartily, patting his knee, while he grabbed the Dark Guild Lizard Puppet's Guild Master by the collar—a frail, long-tongued guy who could only weakly resist—and thrust the newspaper in his face.
"Hey, this is your superior. All the intel on Grimoire Heart, thoroughly exposed. Quite a remarkable bunch, aren't they? Every magic and trick listed so clearly."
The Guild Master of the Lizard Puppet gritted his teeth, voice trembling in fear. "You... this guy..."
The battle happened so quickly. It took less than two minutes from spotting Gildarts to the fight's end.
Everything was over; all members defeated.
Gildarts then loosened his hold. With a thud, the Guild Master was dropped to the ground.
Gildarts's smile faded but still retained a slight curl at the corners of his mouth: "This kid did well. The trail I've been following should be almost gone. Time to move on."
With that, he raised his left foot.
The Guild Master's body trembled, eyes filled with terror as he saw the black shoe sole approaching him, "No... please! I still have..."
Boom! A thunderous crash erupted as the struggling Guild Master was crushed by cylindrical magic power, leaving no trace behind, a crater formed on the ground.
Gildarts withdrew his left foot, stood up, surveyed the battlefield to ensure no survivors, and nodded briefly, picking up some intact valuables, placing them into his backpack.
He then pulled out a stack of intel from his bag, all concerning various Dark Guilds.
Flipping through the documents, Gildarts displayed an irritated expression, "Ah ah ah... the intel is outdated. Can't these guys ever stay put?"
At first, his mission to wipe out these Dark Guilds went smoothly.
But soon Gildarts discovered the intel was no longer accurate, as all the Dark Guilds were relocating. He could only attempt to track some signs, hoping to find them.
But he wasn't an expert in this area and lacked tracking magic.
Sometimes he followed a trail for weeks, only to lose it, forcing him to move on to another Dark Guild location, which more often than not, was empty. It had been over a month.
Finally, Gildarts got lucky and cornered one; this Lizard Puppet Guild was a subordinate of Grimoire Heart.
Yet the battle lasted less than two minutes. Every member, including the Guild Master, was obliterated by Gildarts.
The anger couldn't be entirely vented during this time.
Then he found the newspaper amongst the rubble of broken buildings, estimating it was bought that morning. At least its news settled Gildarts a bit.
Gildarts bent to grab two untouched apples from the box beneath him, wiped them, took a bite, and with a crunch, shouldered his backpack to track the next location.

Meanwhile, at a certain place on the Ishgar Continent.
Within dilapidated ruins.
The stone-constructed site, weathered through countless years, had become severely dilapidated and scattered.
Erect stone pillars bore strange inscriptions and beast paintings, sketching creatures in minimal strokes yet clearly depicting their forms. Deeper within, there was a cave.
Compared to the outside, the cave's rock walls displayed more illustrations, and the monsters took more explicit forms, appearing almost demonic.
Mard Geer, the actual Guild Master of Tartaros, ventured into this cave, observing the murals.
Suddenly, a commotion arose from outside.
Kyoka, leader of the Nine Demon Gates of Tartaros, entered with a newspaper, a playful smile gracing her face: "Master Mard Geer, today's Magic Council newspaper features quite the significant story."
Unlike Mard Geer, who maintained a fully human appearance, Kyoka retained her demonic traits, though she appeared as a voluptuous woman.
Her beast-like limbs and armor gave her a chilling aura.
Mard Geer shifted attention from the fresco to Celestial Spirit King, extending his hand, "What fascinating news could amuse you so?"
Handing over the paper, her smile remained tantalizing, "Our ally has been thoroughly exposed by Fairy Tail."
Mard Geer skimmed the paper, a surprised expression softening his usually stoic face: "This indeed is... intriguing."
The meticulous records exposed Grimoire Heart Guild's Master Hades and all the Seven Kin of Purgatory's magic and techniques, forcing Mard Geer to take a closer look.
"Did Fairy Tail plant a mole within Grimoire Heart? Such comprehensive information... Even close guild members wouldn't typically know this much. And Hades's goal is finding Zeref? Humans..."
Kyoka shrugged, "Who knows? But Hades must be embarrassed. The strongest Dark Guild, really?"
"Speaking of which," she continued, "Hades reached out to us. The assassins we sent can't be reached anymore. They are likely in Fairy Tail's hands. Hades wants us to bring the Nine Demon Gates to deal with Gaal Brons. What should our response be?"
Mard Geer set the paper aside. "Weren't those assassins' first stop the Fairy Tail Guild? If their stay-behind members fell there, it tells you something."
Shaking his head, Mard Geer concluded these mages who relied on external forces were really useless in combat.
Then he turned to Kyoka, contemplating, "Inquire Hades about his plans. Deploy Seilah, Tempester, and Franmalth under your lead. If possible, eliminate Gaal Brons."
Mard Geer's tone grew serious toward the end.
Kyoka hesitated briefly before asking, "For just a mere human mage, is this necessary? Together with those from Grimoire Heart, they could tackle Gildarts. But against an A-Class Mage..."
Mard Geer remained unchanged in demeanor, paralleling the wall mural thoughtfully. "Value doesn't calculate that way. Gildarts is formidable, no doubt. But Gaal Brons's potential is greater."
He detailed, "Cursed Magic, Reflector Magic, Gravity Magic, Space Magic, Amplification Magic, Illusion Magic, Perception Magic, and mastery over fundamental elemental magic kinds... He reminds me of someone."
Kyoka's expression tensed, "You mean... Wizard King August?"
They were demons created by Zeref, linked deeply to the Western Continent.
If anyone mirrors Gaal Brons, it would undeniably be Alvarez Empire's Saint Shield, Wizard King August, renowned as Alvarez's most powerful mage, able to instantaneously replicate magic worldwide.
With power surpassing human limits, he could rebound reflected magic amplified by several folds.
Mard Geer nodded, "Indeed. Yet, unlike Wizard King August, Gaal Brons isn't using replication magic. He learned this diverse magic repertoire through sheer talent. What enviable potential! Given time to grow, he could be quite dangerous. Such talent in a human is reason enough for his demise."
Kyoka's eyes sharpened, "Should we all deploy? Obliterate him completely?"
Mard Geer paused, gazing at Celestial Spirit King, "During Fairy Tail and Grimoire Heart's battle, even the Rock Mountain Range was destroyed without capturing them. This attempt depends on whether Hades can thoroughly prepare, trap Gaal Brons by sealing space. If not, no number of troops would suffice. After all, none among us master Space Magic or Curses. For your team, curse techniques don't need close range. From a distance, support Grimoire Heart."
Such tactics included Kyoka's enhancement curses, deprivation of senses, and amplified pain.
Franmalth's absorption curses could siphon souls and target Gaal Brons's ghostly pets and magic.
Seilah's command curses could control human bodies, disrupting Gaal Brons's actions.
Tempester's sonic curses could also disturb Gaal Brons and counter any surprises with his undead capabilities.
Paired with Grimoire Heart's members, Mard Geer narrowed his eyes, "Seize the opportunity, eliminate Gaal Brons."
