Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Encounter with a pirate
Oliver, after several minutes, had calmed down.
"Hey, can't I trade the fruit I got for a token?"
[No.]
"But it's useless—or rather, it's useless to me," he said, holding the fruit in his hand.
[If you eat it, you won't be able to eat another Devil Fruit without dying.]
"I know. If I remember correctly, it's said that eating two makes the devils inside the fruits fight each other within the body, and the person explodes. That's why I have to think this through..."
[Unless you have the Talent: Ultra Gen.]
"Yeah, unless I get Ultra..." He paused, processing what was just said. "Ultra Gen?"
[Talent: Ultra Gen, one of the rarest talents. It allows the user to eat more than one Devil Fruit without dying.]
"THAT'S AMAZING! If I had that, I could combine the most powerful Devil Fruits in One Piece!" he said excitedly. "How much would it cost me to get it?"
[You could keep buying tokens until you reach your 100th gacha pull, where you're guaranteed to get the highest rarity, as long as the talent you want is available that month.]
"Wait, wait, wait. What do you mean by 'available'?"
[The gachas rotate their rewards every month, and occasionally a limited-time gacha appears, which costs 10,000,000 Belly and can grant rare weapons, combat styles, talents, or Devil Fruits.]
"I see. I'm going to have to save up more money for when the time comes. Status."

"I have quite a few things. Can I trade some of my inventory for money through the system?"
[No. You can only earn money by selling items to a shop. The system cannot grant you money directly.]
"So I'll have to sell them."
He glanced back at the forest.
"I'll go look for some fruit, and maybe I'll come across a Devil Fruit."
Once again, he headed into the forest, searching for fruit.
While scavenging, he found some regular apples and a few other fruits he didn't recognize, so he stored them in his inventory in case one turned out to be a Devil Fruit.
After a few minutes, he began to feel bored and a bit thirsty, and since the only thing he had to drink was alcohol, he took a swig from a bottle. The taste was extremely bitter.
"How do people even like this stuff?" he said, finishing the drink.
In the distance, he heard a loud noise, so he ran toward it to see what was happening.
As he approached, he spotted a ship painted in a loud shade of pink, with hearts all over it. The figurehead at the bow was some kind of swan covered in hearts as well.
"What an ugly ship."
A bridge connected the ship to the shore, so he climbed aboard.
Once on deck, he saw a small group of pirates cleaning.
"We've got to get everything spotless before the boss comes back!"
"Make sure you check every corner!"
The pirates hadn't noticed Oliver yet, so he quietly approached and knocked each one out.
"What kind of pirate ship is this?"
He searched their bodies for any Belly but found nothing, so he took their weapons instead.
"I wonder if I can store a cannon in my inventory?"
He touched one of the cannons, and it disappeared. Checking his inventory, he saw it there.
"So I can store it. Does that mean I can store the whole ship?"
He placed his hand on the ship, trying to store it in his inventory, but a screen appeared.
[You cannot store the ship. It is too large and contains too many items.]
"I see. I didn't really expect it to work, anyway."
He continued exploring the ship, searching for anything useful.
Most of the rooms were uninteresting, and even the storage area was nearly empty, containing only a bit of meat, which he added to his inventory.
"What kind of pirates are these?"
Eventually, he came across one last room to check, and with no expectations, he entered.
Inside was a large bed and furniture, all the same gaudy color as the ship.
"I could guess this ship belongs to a woman, but in One Piece, it could be an Okama, a man who likes pink, or a woman who acts like a child."
On a table, he noticed a notebook. Curious, he opened it and read the first line: I'm the most beautiful.
Seeing that and thinking about the ship's design, a name popped into his head.
"Alvida. This is Alvida's ship. I should've realized from how ugly it is."
He spotted a safe and quickly went to open it, finding 350,000 Belly inside.
"That's pretty little for a pirate crew."
[Mission: Defeat Alvida the Iron Mace.]
[Reward: 5,000,000 Belly.]
He left Alvida's room and walked to the ship's bow to look outside.
"A destroyed house," he said with a grin before taking off running, following the trail of destruction.

In the middle of the forest, two people were talking. One had pink hair, large glasses, and was short. He wore a simple white short-sleeved button-up shirt, black pants, and white sneakers. The other had black hair, wore shorts with sandals, a red shirt, and a straw hat.
Each of them started talking about their goals when a fat woman appeared, carrying a large mace.
"Did you really think you could escape from me?!" the fat woman shouted. "So, that guy is the bounty hunter you hired, huh? He looks nothing like Roronoa Zoro. Before you die, I want to hear it—who is the most beautiful woman in these seas? Say it, Koby!"
The woman demanded an answer from Koby, who was extremely nervous.
"Who's this old fat lady?" asked the straw hat boy.
Upon hearing that, the pirates were just as terrified as Koby, knowing what their captain would do.
"Take it back, Luffy! Say it with me—In these seas, this lady is the most..." Before he could finish, he remembered Luffy's words. "The fattest and stinkiest!"
Luffy burst out laughing like crazy after hearing what Koby said.
"You damn brat!" the woman shouted furiously, raising her giant mace.
Koby was scared, but had no regrets about calling her fat to her face.
"Well said, Koby! Now, step back!" Luffy told him, positioning himself in front of him.
"I don't care! I'm not letting you live anyway!"
The fat woman struck Luffy straight on the head, worrying Koby, but Luffy remained completely unharmed.
"Impossible! How are you still alive?!" the fat woman asked, shocked.
"That's because I'm made of rubber," Luffy answered with a laugh.
The pirates were stunned, but before they could process it, Oliver appeared, rushing through the middle of them and landing a punch on the fat woman.
'Alvida's bounty is mine!'
She went flying through several trees, leaving the pirates in shock.
[Mission Complete]
[Reward: 5,000,000 Berries]
'Sorry, Luffy. But I couldn't pass up 5 million Berries.'
He looked at the rest of the pirates and attacked them in the same way to take them down.
"Huh? Who are you?" Luffy asked.
"I'm Oliver Williams. Sorry for interrupting, but I've been hunting Alvida for a while now," Oliver lied while trying to hold back his excitement over earning so many Berries.
"Well, whatever," Luffy said with a smile. "We need to find a boat."
Oliver sighed in relief and walked over to Alvida to pick up her Iron Mace.
"WHOA!! WHAT WAS THAT?!" Luffy shouted right next to Oliver.
"Ouch, I think I went deaf," Oliver said, covering his ears.
"Hey! Tell me what you did!" Luffy yelled again.
"I used a mysterious power," Oliver replied.
"A mysterious power?"
Luffy's eyes sparkled with excitement upon hearing Oliver's words.
"Look."
Oliver made a sword appear, then a piece of cheese, and finally, a large chunk of meat.
"Meat!" Luffy shouted as he saw it appear.
"Take it."
He hadn't even finished speaking before Luffy devoured it in one bite.
"You're a good person."
Koby didn't know what to say as he watched Luffy having fun, completely ignoring what had just happened.
"Hey, come on. We need to find a boat," Luffy told Oliver. "Let's go, Koby. You have to join the Marines."
Luffy started walking off in a random direction.
"Where do we find a boat?" Luffy wondered.
"I think I saw some boats on Alvida's ship," Oliver said while continuing to collect the pirates' weapons.
"Then let's go there," Luffy said.
Luffy started walking again, leaving Koby and Oliver behind.
The two began following Luffy until Oliver suddenly realized something.
'Why am I following him?' Oliver thought.
"That's right!"
Luffy came running back to them.
"Hey, join my crew."
[Mission: Join the Straw Hat Crew]
[Reward: Become a member of the Straw Hat Crew]
'Join them?'
He thought about it for a few milliseconds.
"Alright."
"I got my first nakama!"
'I guess this is fine. This way, I'll be in the front row in case something happens.'
And so, becoming Luffy's first nakama, Oliver accompanied him and Koby to the next island, where they would meet a powerful swordsman.
