Chapter 30 - Martial Artists Gather, Conflict Arises!

Chapter 30: Martial Artists Gather, Conflict Arises!

Time slowed. Tomorrow would be Zhang Sanfeng’s centennial birthday, but the atmosphere on Mount Wudang remained heavy and sombre.

“We still haven’t found Master!”

“Where could he have gone?”

“It’s so strange. Why would Master suddenly leave the mountain?”

The Wudang Seven Heroes, except for the paralysed Yu Daiyan, gathered in the hall. Their expressions were clouded with worry. Neither Song Yuanqiao nor Zhang Cuishan could fathom the reason for Zhang Sanfeng’s disappearance.

For days, they had scoured the mountain without success. The most plausible conclusion was that their master had descended the mountain, but his reasoning eluded them entirely.

“Alas, how could we possibly understand Master’s thoughts?” Mo Shenggu sighed. “Perhaps he has something urgent to attend to.”

Compared to Zhang Sanfeng’s wisdom and strength, they were far behind, unable to guess his intentions.

“Enough!” Song Yuanqiao, the eldest disciple and current head of Wudang, interjected. “Master is far too powerful for anything to happen to him. Rather than worry about his absence, we should focus on what lies ahead tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow is Master’s hundredth birthday. Even though he isn’t here, the celebration must go on. Otherwise, the martial artists gathered at the foot of the mountain won’t let it slide.”

“A mob of scoundrels,” Yin Liting spat. “If not for Shaolin backing them, would they dare act so boldly?”

Yin Liting’s tone dripped with disdain. As a Grandmaster of the Celestial Phenomena realm, his strength made him a force to be reckoned with. Still, the thought of Shaolin’s influence cast a shadow of caution over his otherwise fiery temperament.

“This trouble stems from me,” Zhang Cuishan said, his voice steady but solemn. “Brothers, there’s no need to worry. I will face them and give them an explanation.”

“Fifth Brother, that’s nonsense!” Yu Lianzhou countered sharply. “We, the Wudang Seven Heroes, are as close as kin. How can you bear this alone?”

Yu Lianzhou’s fierce loyalty was unwavering. He refused to let Zhang Cuishan shoulder the burden alone.

“Exactly,” Zhang Songxi added, a faint smile gracing his lips. “Even without Master here, we brothers are all Grandmasters of the Celestial Phenomena realm. As long as the true ancient monsters don’t act, we have no reason to fear.”

Their determination clear, Song Yuanqiao nodded. “No matter what these martial artists intend, they won’t harm Fifth Brother. Whatever happens, we will face it together as Wudang’s strength.”

The next morning, martial artists began their climb up Mount Wudang, bringing with them a surge of clamour and activity that broke the mountain’s usual tranquillity.

Standing by the Sword Releasing Stone, Mo Shenggu blocked the path, his aura radiating power.

“All visitors must leave their weapons here before entering,” he announced, his voice steady and resolute.

Mo Shenggu’s aura exuded authority, forcing many of the weaker martial artists to comply, surrendering their swords. Others hesitated, choosing to linger at the mountain’s base rather than risk confrontation.

Suddenly, a sharp voice broke the air.

“Does this rule apply to my Yitian Sword as well, Mo Seventh Hero?”

The speaker was none other than Miejue Shitai, leading her disciples from Emei. She stepped up to the Sword Releasing Stone, her expression cold and commanding.

[Miejue Shitai can be translated as “The Absolute Extinction Venerable Nun” or “Reverend of Absolute Annihilation,” reflecting her severe and ruthless nature.]

“The Yitian Sword is exempt,” Mo Shenggu replied evenly. “But all other weapons must be left behind.”

As Zhang Sanfeng’s disciple, Mo Shenggu knew well of Wudang’s delicate relationship with Emei. While the Yitian Sword was Emei’s treasured weapon, it was unrealistic to demand its surrender. Thus, he offered a compromise.

“Is that so?” Miejue Shitai’s tone turned icy, her gaze sharp. “And what if Emei refuses to comply?”

Her domineering nature clashed with Mo Shenggu’s calm resolve. She expected Wudang to yield, as it had often done in the past.

But this time, she miscalculated. Mo Shenggu’s gaze hardened, and a faint killing intent emanated from him.

“Overstepping your bounds, are we?” His tone remained calm, yet carried a chilling edge. “If Emei refuses to disarm, then none of your disciples will leave this mountain alive.”
