Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 623 Mischievous grin

Even after that, they didn't feel like working with someone that shady until they saw the dungeons emerging in their territory and him giving them the power to control the monsters inside it.

Finally, he offered them the power to get stronger with the dungeons and by following him. That was why the Draco soldiers were able to use Dragon Rage.

"If you want to make the conditions perfect, some of you will have to join the fight and make them lose more soldiers," the hooded person said. "No matter how or when, that guy has to die, and taking his sources of strength one at a time is absolutely necessary."

The tribe leaders looked at each other in silence while showing their discomfort… they didn't like the idea of facing Rain and his friends after suffering so many losses and finally coming to realize that he was better at them at their own forte, which was magic, when he was a brawler through and through. That human didn't make any sense from their perspective.

Still, they had a few cards up their sleeve… the power up of the draco soldiers showed them that… they could become stronger and face him and with a decent enough plan, defeat him.

Losar looked at his allies and could easily see what they were thinking. It was possible… while the fact that they didn't like to follow only the hooded man's lead was clear, they wouldn't mind as long as they achieved their goal. Everything else was just a minor nuisance if compared to Rain.

"All right, I guess we have an agreement," Losar said after nodding. "How do you plan on using our forces? We are willing to take some risks as well, but we hope that you can use our strengths well."

"My goal is to collect more information about the current him. The success of that and your chances of survival will rely solely on you all," The hooded man said.

When night came, Rain wondered if there was any chance of him doing something like a night raid… Still, after listening to the reports of the squads the those who were working directly under his friends, Rain confirmed that it wasn't possible.

The poisoned warriors in the morning got better, but they needed to sleep to truly recover and the fight in the afternoon made a lot of people break their bones.

"I can always attack them from a distance… but aiming from here will be hard," Rain rubbed his chin thoughtfully.

While Rain was thinking of what he should do, he turned around and saw his kids bored out of their mind in front of the house that they were using. Seara was helping some wounded people and they were trying to behave. Sealyn was probably sleeping inside and they were watching her in case she wakes up.

"Sorry, but I have to stay focused on this to make it end as soon as possible," Rain thought and then let out a sigh.

Fortunately, or perhaps not, Danny and Annie were as much training freaks as Rain, so they began to kill time by firing some water balls at one wall… at least in that aspect Rain knew that they beat him, he cast the first water balls when he was five, and they were four.

Regardless, soon Rain decided not to do anything at night and relax a bit. A lot of the warriors were looking at him and waiting for further orders. Unless he shows them that they had to relax a bit too, they won't be able to recover properly.

"I guess I will help make dinner while I think of tomorrow's battle plan," Rain thought.

The people that decided to stay behind to help with some work looked confused when the leader of the raging Phoenix was helping them cook, but soon they thanked for the help since the food tasted ten times better than usual. Rain still couldn't believe how rare it was for someone to have the Cook's path.

While Rain was finishing things, he recalled that he saw in the distance three other armies of monsters. They were composed of some horse-like monsters that Rain didn't see well from a distance, some creatures that looked like slimes but they were three meters long and wide, and some bird monsters that were on the ground.

As Rain observed the situation and finished overseeing the cooking with the help of the Raging Phoenix leader, he couldn't help but notice three other armies of monsters in the distance. These armies were comprised of distinct creatures, but the details were challenging to discern from such a distance.

Among them were horse-like monsters, followed by massive slime-like creatures, each stretching three meters in length and width, and a group of bird-like monsters that had descended to the ground. The sight of these approaching forces further heightened the tension in the already uncertain battlefield.

"Putting aside the slime like monsters, I can't imagine them trying to slow us down by focusing on defending like this," Rain thought. "Still, while they shouldn't be that tough, they should have a few tricks up their sleeve and they also should have high attack power."

High attack power versus toughness… things shouldn't be that simple since the enemies knew where the true strength of the Raging Phoenix laid. Regardless, Rain couldn't use the same tricks because this time, the enemies will be waiting for them, so he had to use his creative muscles.

"Hehe, I know how I will… how we will surprise them tomorrow," Rain thought while grinning.

The warriors couldn't help but notice Rain's mischievous grin as they gathered to eat their meal. It was the kind of expression that made them wonder what their leader had up his sleeve, and it both worried and excited them.

Rain's confident demeanor and the aura of a master tactician reassured them, but they couldn't help feeling a sense of pity for the impending clash that awaited for their enemies. Being on Rain's side gave them a reassuring sense of security, knowing that they had a brilliant strategist leading them into the fray.
