Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 738: Am I a M?

Evolution was driven by natural selection, to tend to favor organisms that can maximize their energy efficiency. This optimization occurs through various biological adaptations that enhance an organism's ability to obtain, utilize, and conserve energy.

Organisms that can obtain more energy from their environment or use energy more efficiently have a competitive advantage, enabling them to survive and reproduce more successfully.

Animals have evolved physiological and behavioral adaptations to conserve energy when necessary, such as hibernation, torpor, or reduced metabolic rates during periods of scarcity. Similarly, the human body has evolved to efficiently allocate energy to essential functions while minimizing waste.

"Evolution can take thousands of years for humans, but there are certain things that they can adapt faster," Rain thought while he was making his plans for the next trip to the dungeon. "I guess just punching the air until my arms are barely usable won't work when it comes to improving energy usage, but I won't give up on that."

The system had the path evolutions for a reason, and those who underwent it truly evolved a bit more than others, so Rain could use it to his advantage. With that in mind, Rain went to one of the ice dungeons wearing light clothes, and after he left his guards behind… he wouldn't have anything to protect him against the cold.

It didn't take long for Rain to consider his sanity in that situation… when he reached the fourth floor, his balls were already freezing… when the ice skeletons appeared, his first thought was to melt them with fire and warm himself up as well, but Rain soon changed his mind and just smashed them with a block of earth.

"Fuck!" Rain cursed while holding his shoulders. "Did I awaken to the world of masochism?"

It didn't take long for Rain to feel like he was going to suffer from some frostbite, but he refused to use any magic that was supposed to fight that. Instead, he let his body adapt to the situation… even when he felt his fingers getting harder to move, he kept punching and smashing the heads of the ice skeletons.

Even though he was trembling, Rain felt playful and also blocked the ice arrows fired at him with his hands using his newest technique…

Calling it an invisible wall seemed lame, perfect block? It wasn't enough… Instant Block seemed like a good name, and Perfect Counter to continue the attack as well. In any case, they didn't freeze his hands that much since his movements made his body warmer.

"I guess I shouldn't do this too much… evolution happens out of necessity, after all," Rain thought.

At some point, Rain's body stopped freezing and he reached a point where he still could control it and while the damage in terms of Frostbites wasn't visible, Rain still could see his health decreasing. That increased by three times when he reached the fifth floor… That was just a hellish frozen hell, but at least Rain achieved his first goal.

You completely mastered all the skills of the Physical path and fulfilled the conditions to improve your path. Continue your journey on My Virtual Library Empire

The Boost Path is a comprehensive progression of martial and physical abilities designed to augment an individual's combat capabilities and overall physical prowess. It represents a disciplined journey of self-improvement, focusing on refining techniques, enhancing physical attributes, and fortifying resilience against adversaries. ( Strength, Vitality and Endurance + 10 per level.)

Level 1: High Stamina - Enhances stamina reserves, increasing maximum stamina by 50 per level.

"Incredible… bland," Rain thought. "The first skill is too basic and the bonus per level of the path is only five times better than the original path… I suppose I was expecting too much."

Rain didn't have time to complain either… since his mind was freezing as well. In theory, he was expecting that his body would adapt by healing itself from the damage caused by the cold by forcefully using Mana, but that wasn't happening at all… things started to get dangerous when Rain began to feel tired and sleepy…

"... Maybe I should do this on my own and make my body do that on its own after remembering it," Rain thought.

It goes without saying, but that didn't work at all… Rain didn't feel any differences after evolving the physical path either, so he was out of ideas and the only option seemed to be to endure that for as long as possible.

"I guess it was unreasonable to think that I could make my body evolve the same of thousands of years in a single night," Rain thought and then he dashed toward the exit of the dungeon.

Rain felt depressed after recovering outside the dungeon, but he slapped himself a few times to change his mood. He accomplished one goal, so he decided to count that as a win…

Call him mad, but Rain had the great idea of simulating the conditions of the dungeon at all times… even when he wasn't there. It was close to insanity, but that would make him train three things at the same time, so it didn't seem too bad of a plan.

First of all, Rain wanted to create a cold aura around him that will make him endure the cold as well, but he had to control it so that if wouldn't leave any signs of what he was doing and in order to keep that hidden from everyone.

At the same time, Rain could decrease the temperature overtime… while using magic against himself, he would gain more experience, he would improve his control and he would train his willpower while approaching a bigger goal… he couldn't ask for more.

"He is doing something weird again…" Terra said and then sighed. "We can see it with magic eyes, but he is controlling it in order not to leave any clear signs of what he is doing."

"At this point in time, it is useless to try to be on par with everything he is doing," Seara shrugged.
