Chapter 455: Monster wave
Gasps filled the room. Nobles stood from their seats in alarm. Some clutched their chests, while others whispered with trembling voices. The Emperor turned toward the tall windows, where the sky had begun to darken unnaturally.
DING!
[GLOBAL SYSTEM ANNOUNCEMENT]

They look up and glanced at each other then One of the guildmasters, a tall man with short blonde hair and a deep voice, stood from his seat.
The insignia of the Iron Fangs, a powerful guild from Germany, gleamed on his shoulder. His name was Karl Dietrich.
Karl took a step forward and said loudly, "Your Majesty, this is not just your fight anymore. If dragons are coming, then we—who have seen worse—must join this battle. We cannot stand and watch people die."
The Emperor's golden eyes narrowed, and he raised his hand to silence the room.
"This is my kingdom," he said, voice cold and strong, "My soldiers will handle it. I do not need outsiders to protect Solaria."
A heavy silence fell across the hall But Alexa stepped forward.
"Your Majesty," she said respectfully, bowing her head, "we understand your pride, and your fear of trusting those who fell from the sky. But if we fight beside you, no more lives need to be lost. We are not here to take your land. We are here to help protect it."
She lifted her head and looked the Emperor in the eyes."Let us stand with you. Not as invaders. Not as enemies. But as allies. We'll make sure that not a single person in your kingdom will get hurt—not one. We assure you, Your Majesty."
The nobles murmured again. Some looked at Alexa with surprise, others with doubt. But the Crown Prince, Callan, stepped forward. His face was serious, his heart torn between duty and logic.
He walked up beside his father and said quietly, "Father, I believe her. I felt no evil in their intentions. These people… these guilds… they might be strange, but they have power. And they didn't use it against us."
The Emperor looked at his son.
"We suffered greatly in the last wave," Callan continued, "Our people are still recovering. The soldiers are brave, but tired. The citizens still fear the skies. We cannot face this alone."
There was a pause.
"If they fight for us," Callan added, "perhaps this time… we can win without loss."
The Emperor, He stayed silent for a long moment. Then finally, he nodded—slowly, but surely.
"Very well," the Emperor said. "You may fight... but you will do so under our banner. The first sign of betrayal, and I will not hesitate to act."
Alexa and the other guildmasters bowed. "We accept your terms, Your Majesty."
After the Emperor gave his final nod of approval, the guildmasters began to move quickly. One by one, they bowed and turned to leave the great hall.
"We'll take our leave, Your Majesty," Alexa said one last time before turning around, her cloak swaying behind her.
The Crown Prince was already strapping on a fresh set of silver armor, his cape flying behind him as he ran toward the courtyard. "All units prepare for battle!" he ordered as guards moved to open the gates.
As Alexa and her guild members followed outside, Choi Jieun, her violet hair waving from the wind, caught up beside her and spoke in a low voice."Seems like dragons are enemies here. Good thing Gideon didn't show himself yet, huh?"
Alexa gave a small nod, eyes ahead. "Yeah. But we can't hide Gideon forever. If they learn to trust us, we'll explain everything. Let's focus for now."
Just then, Isabella from the Celestial Gates guild stepped closer, keeping pace as they reached the exit.
"Alexa," she said, serious and hushed, "I have a hunch… no, it's more than that. I think this is the world of Ethereal VRMMORPG."
Alexa slowed for a moment, her boots skidding slightly on the stone path. Her eyes widened a bit, then narrowed.
"If that's true," she said, looking ahead, "then there's only one way to find out... Finish this quest."
Finally, they burst out of the castle gates and arrived in the wide training yard where dozens of guild members were already gathered, waiting.
[GLOBAL SYSTEM NOTICE]PERMISSION GRANTED TO DEFEND THE KINGDOM.OBJECTIVE: ENSURE ZERO CIVILIAN CASUALTIES.REMINDER: DRAGON WAVE THREAT LEVEL - RED.
The crowd looked up as the floating message blinked and then vanished.
Alexa raised her voice, her tone full of fire. "You see the system?! We have permission!" she shouted, turning to everyone. "Let's protect this kingdom! Make sure not a single person gets hurt!"
Cheers erupted around her as others lifted their weapons high.
"Ohhh yeah!" one warrior shouted. "I've always wanted to see how real dragons fight!"
"Let's burn 'em before they burn us!" someone else yelled, spinning a flaming staff.
"I swear, if I get eaten, I better get legendary loot!"
Laughter and adrenaline mixed with the wind as the guilds broke into formation, running toward the outer gates.
The Crown Prince had already ridden out with his personal guard, preparing the city defenses.
As the first dragon shadows moved above the clouds, the guilds began to act fast, calling out orders and offering help. Lee Minjoon, Korea's necromancer, stood on one of the rooftops, arms raised high as he summoned giant bone-winged birds, their wings flapping with eerie force.
"Climb aboard!" one of his guild members shouted, helping others who couldn't fly onto the skeleton birds.
On the other side, Lauren Hamilton, still floating midair, had her arms extended as wind swirled around her body. She gently guided several people upward, carrying them with her wind.
"Don't look down, Dear." she warned with a smile, trying to keep spirits high.
As they arrived in the walls and landed. Mages were lining up fast. Wind mages and earth mages stood side by side across the castle walls, their hands glowing with magic.
"Let's do it now!" one of the earth mages shouted, slamming her palm onto the stone ground. Chunks of earth flew upward, shaped into stepping stones, floating in the air like pieces of a broken staircase.
