Chapter 456: Dragons war
Then the wind mages stepped forward, channeling magic into the rocks, keeping them steady like invisible hands holding the stones in place.
"Keep it up, mages! Keep them floating!" someone yelled from the wall.
Standing at the edge of the floating stones, Seoha grinned wide, her red scarf flying behind her like a tail in the wind. "Now this is getting fun!" she shouted, her eyes wild with excitement.
Without warning, she jumped onto the floating rocks, sprinting across them like a dancer. Her dual blades were out, glinting under the sun. "Come on, Daewon!"
Daewon grinned and followed, smashing his double hammers together and jumping after her. "Let's show these overgrown lizards what top rankers can do!"
One by one, more guild members followed. Some ran across the stepping stones.Others flew with mounts, skeleton birds, or wind support. Those without mobility spells had teams assigned to carry or guide them up.
From the walls, the healers, wind mages, and earth mages stayed on duty, constantly working together to heal, reinforce, and lift others.
Behind them, long-range mages and archers formed lines—fireballs, ice arrows, and lightning bolts glowing at the ready.
And finally, they saw them.
The dragons.
So many dragons.
Wings like mountains, eyes glowing red and gold, sharp fangs, and thick scales that looked like living armor. They flew in formation, some letting out roars that shook the sky. Others charged magical breath into their mouths, ready to unleash destruction.
"Whoa..." someone muttered from the wall, stunned at the sight.
"Would you look at that?" another whispered. "First time I seen dragons are in VR."
The sky changed color as the dragons flew lower. From far away, they looked like black shadows, but as they came closer, everyone could finally see them clearly.
They were terrifying.
One of the dragons in front was as big as a ship. Its scales were deep red, and fire was leaking out from between its sharp teeth. Its eyes were glowing like burning coals. Two smaller dragons flew beside it, wings spread wide, with sharp horns growing from their heads.
Then came the first roar.
It echoed across the skies, shaking the air like thunder. Everyone flinched. Some of the newer guild members fell to their knees from the pressure. Even the earth trembled as if the sky itself was screaming.
Suddenly, a blast of fire shot forward from the red dragon's mouth, heading straight for the flying stone platforms.
"Get ready!" shouted Seoha, still running ahead on the stones.
One wind mage quickly raised both hands, creating a shield of strong wind to push the fire off course. The fire exploded midair, the heat still reaching those on the platforms.
"That was close!" Kyla shouted, her clothes slightly singed at the edges.
Another dragon with ice-blue scales flew past the first and opened its mouth wide.
"ICE BREATH!" someone yelled.
A stream of sharp, freezing wind shot through the air, instantly turning a floating rock into a block of ice. One of the guild members slipped, screaming—but Lauren flew over just in time, catching them with her wind and floating them back to safety.
"Keep your footing! These dragons can use different elements!" Lauren warned loudly.
From the side, Daewon leapt high, his two hammers glowing with lightning. He landed hard on a flying stone, cracking it, and then launched himself again—straight toward the ice dragon.
"Let's play!" he shouted with a grin.
His hammer swung fast and crashed into the side of the dragon's face. The creature roared, shaking its head as it flew back, its eye bleeding.
From the back lines, Lee Minjoon lifted both hands, calling his undead.Dark energy swirled, and a group of skeleton archers on bone birds took to the sky. "Aim for the wings!" he ordered.
Arrows made of magic and bone flew fast, hitting one dragon's wing again and again until it flinched and dropped lower.
Alexa, leading her guild across the stepping stones, noticed a green dragon charging up its breath.
"Spread out! That's poison!" she yelled.
They moved fast, but the green gas still spread. "Cover your mouths!" She waved her sword and summoned a strong wind, clearing the poison before it could reach the backline mages.
From below, the people of the kingdom watched in awe. The sky was filled with magic, fire, lightning, wind, and dragons. It was like a scene from a storybook—but this was real.
Isabella flew up next to Alexa.
"We need to push forward before more come!"
Alexa nodded. She jumped off the stone she was on, spinning her twin swords midair, and landed right on the back of a small dragon.
The dragon screamed, shaking left and right, but Alexa stabbed deep into its back, holding on tightly.
"ALEXA!" someone shouted.
"I GOT THIS!" she yelled back, pushing her sword deeper.
Above her, Seoha flipped midair, riding the wind like a dancer. She landed on a dragon's neck and stabbed both her blades down, then jumped again before its tail could hit her.
"THIS IS FUN!" Seoha laughed, clearly enjoying the madness.
Boom!
A dragon landed on the castle wall and The whole wall shook.
From the skies above the kingdom, lightning flashed again as another dragon roared—its massive wings sending gusts of wind strong enough to knock smaller guild members off balance.
But just before another one could land on the castle wall, a powerful gust of wind blew through and a shadow dropped down from above with a loud thud.
The ground cracked where he landed, and when the smoke cleared, Gideon stood tall—his dark cloak flapping, and behind him, two large dragonoid wings slowly folded back.
His presence was heavy. Even the dragon in front of him hesitated.
From the side, Alexa spotted him. Her eyes widened a little, and she muttered under her breath as she kept swinging her twin swords, slashing at the dragon beneath her, "Careful not to be seen by them…"
Gideon tilted his head slightly in her direction, fixing the hood of his cloak tighter around his head.
"I know," he answered calmly,
With one powerful step, he dashed forward and punched the dragon in the jaw, making its neck twist sideways as it stumbled back, crashing into the stone barrier with a loud screech.
He turned briefly toward Alexa and smirked. "I'll hold this side. Try not to get burned, Guildmaster."
Alexa didn't answer with words, only gave him a brief nod before returning her focus.
