Insect Tamer's Ascension

Chapter 159: Family dinner (1)

"Theoooo! Why did you give it back? It was getting fun now!" Celeste stated with a pout. She was genuinely sad, which made Theo feel a vein pop in his hand.

"This is not a way of treating your brother, elder sister Celeste. It's not how nobles should behave." Theo spoke with calm even though he felt angry.

He knew the more angry he got, the more the situation would escalate. Such was the way children worked.

"You're no fun! Come on Gideon, let's go." Celeste spoke again and grabbed Gideon's hand before moving toward the exit.

Both the attendants ran toward them before giving a deep bow toward Bram in an apology.

Celeste and Gideon stopped at the gate. "You both can go and do your boring training now, we are leaving!" she shouted and ran away.

Theo massaged the top of his nose so as to not get angry. They were kids, and he had no patience to school them at the moment.

"T-Thank you, Theo." Bram spoke again and quickly took a sigh of relief.

Theo looked at him for a second before his gaze went to his attendant.

"Is this how you attend a Merrick's heir, Sylvia? He is being bullied by those twins and you simply stood there, doing nothing." Theo spoke in frustration welling inside him.

"This…" Sylvia only looked down at the ground.

"T-Theo, Sylvia is not in the wrong here," Bram spoke out instantly and continued, "… I was the one who told her not to do anything," he spoke with his eyes down.

When Theo saw that, he quickly spoke up, "Talk while looking directly into my eyes, elder brother." Theo spoke with a serious tone.

Bram tried it instantly, but after five seconds, he averted his gaze again. Theo sighed. He did not know what would help make this kid's confidence go up.

"Why do you not complain to mother and father? If you don't want them to know, then go to big brother Lucien, he will take care of the situation for you." Theo spoke.

Bram fidgeted his fingers and tried saying something, only to shut his mouth. Only after a moment did he finally speak up.

"I… I am trying to be the confident person you want me to be, Theo. That's why… I am trying to resolve the situation on my own right now." Bram spoke, making Theo look at him with a little less anger now.

'He is trying his best…' Theo took a deep sigh and just shrugged the topic off. If Bram wanted to do it himself, who was he to help him?

"Elder brother, what is this?" Theo asked with a mild smile.

Seeing the change in the atmosphere of the lobby, Bram went back to his usual self too. He held out the small gemstone in his hand and showed the little carving to Theo.

"I was getting bored so I used one of the gems that mother gave me and tried carving out some designs on it. This is what I came up with, Theo." Bram spoke with sparkling eyes.

Seeing the passion in his voice, Theo chuckled warmly. Having a hobby was a great thing.

'Maybe I should get a hobby too?' he thought and went back to the conversation.

They talked about how he engraved the smile with the help of a beginner carving tool and told Theo about all the things he could do if he learned it.

He spent some time with Bram until he had caught on with almost everything he was doing. This text was acquired from M|V|L0EMPYR.

His training time had decreased significantly, but Theo was happy that Bram was finding what he was interested in.

Soon, after making some plans with him for the future, Theo bid farewell to Bram, who went to his room again.

It was at that moment he found Elias again, who looked in a bad mood.

"Head butler came to warn me that I am only allowed to leave you alone when you are in your room, young master…" he spoke with a straight face, yet Theo could tell that he didn't like being scolded for something he already knew.

It was Theo who forcefully made him go away.

"Also, there is going to be a family dinner today. Young lady Isolde has brought something back as a merchant that the Baron wants to show everyone."

"Hm?" When Theo heard that, he couldn't help but be curious.

The last time he heard about Isolde bringing something was when she brought in a considerable number of demon toad eggs.

From the news he had heard from the knights and guards, the reward of demon toads had helped bring joy to the families of the ones who got them.

Theo was now curious to know what it was all about, so he decided to make a small trip to Lucien's room to have a light catch-up chat.

When he reached his room, the door opened almost instantly, and Theo looked at the big man standing in front of it with a grin.

"Been a long time, Theo. Come in." Lucien offered and opened the door all the way.

"It's nice to meet you again, young master Theo." Cassian spoke with a bow and then looked at Elias and stared at him with a light smile.

"Do you know each other, Elias?" Theo asked, seeing how they were interacting with just their eyes.

"No, young master. Attendant Cassian graduated many years before me," Elias spoke and gave a brief nod to Cassian too.

Theo wondered if it was something to do with seniority.

Cassian didn't respond back and just stood behind Lucien like usual.

Theo and Lucien sat down and exchanged some pleasantries before they started telling each other what was happening.

"I didn't expect you to get Knight Rhys as your teacher, Theo. You are very lucky. And I didn't expect you to try becoming a knight. Are you giving up on your taming journey?" Lucien asked, making Theo just shake his head left and right.

"I am trying to do both of them, elder brother," Theo spoke. "To fight alongside my tamed beast one day—that is my goal now," Theo spoke, and Lucien wasn't even surprised.

"I would have laughed a lot if someone else said it. But you're different, Lord Evolution Tamer." Lucien spoke with a grin before he burst out laughing anyway.
