Chapter 1099: Untouchable Archmage
[Zodiac’s POV: ]
"Ptssss…"
"It’s going to be fine, Sansan. It’ll be over… soon…"
The headmaster started removing spells that were cast on him.
He was doing something that was a little difficult to understand, but I can tell that this was the same as taking out the spells that were present around his body, something like seals.
The process was not simple, it did not look simple and it certainly did not feel simple either.
There was in fact something about this process that confused me…
’Why does he have all of them on him?’
The headmaster that I know, the person that I have looked up to and admired this whole time, was a kind and powerful person.
He already possessed strength that was beyond anything anyone could imagine.
There was something unique about his powers as well… while he was a five-element master, the light element that he could use was so different from the light element that the others could use that it simply inspired awe in anyone that saw him using it.
’Also his Aether arts…’
He was strong, way beyond what anyone in the academy knew about.
’As an archmage, he was not simply someone who could cast magic.’
The elements were like an extension of his being, the will that he possessed was able to create miracles from the interference with reality itself.
’To bend the laws of nature…’
He was the pinnacle of magic, someone that had comprehended most that one could understand as a mage.
He had moved beyond spells as well. His simple thoughts were like the formation of magic, and there have been times when I have been fortunate enough to witness what he is capable of.
There have even been times when I could simply tell he is holding back by a great degree.
’He wasn’t just an archmage…’
To the world and to us students of the great academy, he was also the headmaster of the greatest institute of the world.’
He was strong, he was kind, and he had taught me about the energy arts as well as how to handle my powers personally.
In the few years that I have known him, there have only been two instances when I was able to witness the pinnacle of magic that an archmage could conjure, the (tier-10) spells that weren’t something any mortal could comprehend.
’To go against the laws and to create miracles from the deconstruction of all logic, to go beyond just the spells and norms and to do something that was practically impossible.’
The highest level of spells, the ultimate height that defined the archmages… these powers were something one could not obtain even after spending their entire lives. Experience more content on NovelBin.Côm
It was beyond every logical explanation and power limits that one understood. It was not a [World authority] granted by nature in response to an achievement, those powers were the heights of mortality, the potential of the mortal kind that could even scare the gods above.
’I have seen him cast those spells twice.’
He was a mage that specialised in illusion magic, but the illusions that he used were way beyond the illusions that us ’children’ could make.
’They were the manifestation of reality itself.’
If he willed, he could create lethal illusions. If he willed, he could create gentle illusions, and if he willed, he could change the world with his illusions, change the perspective of the entire world with his magic.
He was capable of doing that, but right now, at this moment, for the first time since I’ve known him, I was seeing him peel off the limitations that he seemed to have put on himself.
"Headmaster…"
The seals that were removing one after another were releasing the shackles, the chains that he had put around himself.
He was freeing himself… and, there was only one reason for him to do that.
[{( "Oho~? Look what we have here~!" )}]
The red hooded being that manifested before us.
[{( "Are you finally releasing your Limiters~? Haha, there’s a child here, you dumbass~. Don’t you care about the life of your preeeeecious student~?" )}]
The red figure, as I understand, was a puppet of a divine being, something like an evil god as the headmaster mentioned earlier.
’I have no idea what that is, but I know one thing for sure…’
That thing… that being that separated this whole space and pulled us away from the others, is ridiculously strong.
There were three of them all all possessed a kind of power I had only ever felt from Sansan’s mother as well as the venomous curse of the divinities that almost ended my previous world.
’They are divinities…’
Sansan has been shivering since earlier.
He was sensitive to the energies and the mere presence of these beings was making the most joyful being I know shiver in horror.
’The evil…’
There must be a reason the headmaster called them the evil gods. I don’t know what exactly it might be but there is something about them that even the headmaster is worried about.
[{( "You should have tried a little~ harder, he-ad-mas-ter~." )}]
The creature that was floating in the sky looked like the incarnation of the demon noble that attacked our class when we were on a field trip in our second year.
That was a being against whom the headmaster had to use his ultimate magic, but this being before us right now was not demonic.
It possessed a divine nature, as well as a demonic personality, making it far worse than that demonic noble.
"You do not know…"
A golden chain appeared around the headmaster as his entire body was engulfed by a strange silver light…
{ "The consequences of what you have done." }
A voice that was more powerful than the True voices of these divine beings filled our surroundings.
{ "This will not end with just us, you morons." }
The chains loosened but did not come off like the other chains that had previously appeared around him.
They surely vanished as the silver light overshadowed them, however, the eyes of the headmaster that were always shining in a colorful light, were now shining in an even brighter light.
[{( "It is meaningless to resist, Merlin." )}]
The figure in red raised its head and warped the space around him to create a spear that looked like a needle.
-Ooooooooooong!
The pressure that was coming from that needle-like weapon was so intense that Sansan could not hold it anymore and shrunk down.
"Ptssss…"
He was terrified so he slipped inside my sleeves and wrapped himself around my neck, the safest place that he knew.
And while he did that…
"..."
I watched as the figure of death in red, the being that I knew for a fact possessed an absolute authority over this entire space, smiled in a way so creepy…
’My heart stopped beating for a moment.’
-Swish!
Before the absolute power, I could only watch the situation unfolding before me.
The being in red closed the distance between us from up in the sky to the ground in a fraction of a second.
Its aim was not the headmaster but us.
The red eyes that were present under the hood were not looking at us but we were its target. We were the pawns that it needed to take out before it dealt with the headmaster who was still in the process of unlocking his powers…
-OOOOOOONG…!
Or so it thought, at the very least.
{ "How dare you…" }
A pillar of light so bright that it exploded beyond the ceiling of what I had thought as the real space this entire time.
{ "How dare you use these cheap tricks to harm my students…!" }
The enraged voice echoed all throughout the area, almost tearing my eardrums.
It was a fierce voice, something that came out of genuine emotions.
-Ooooooooong!
Perhaps the headmaster forgot that we were here as well for a moment, but then I felt all the pressure that I was feeling, all the new intense pressure that almost tore my body and soul apart, this new wave of energy that overwhelmed the existing pressure of the being in red, subsided a little…
As I opened my eyes, I watched as the headmaster, now covered in a strange silver energy, his eyes burning with a strange mix of all kinds of colors and his white hair glowing in a pure white, runic spell rings made of Aether circling around his body, holding the being in red by its neck with his bare hands.
{ "How dare you attempt… something so futile with… these mere puppets." }
The runic spell rings around him were something as complex as the spells that Eon has occasionally used… something unfathomable as well as unreasonably powerful.
{ "YOU are the only one to blame for this outcome." }
The headmaster used the energy that was present around him, the silver energy that was covering him, and burned the now helpless body of the smiling red-bodied puppet.
[{( "Kekeke… you know… why we were here, Merlin." )}]
The energy started burning away the existence of its divine body, overpowering its divine authority with sheer strength.
[{( "You… no one, can hide them here… forever. KEKEKE…!" )}]
The creature did not seem to care it was dying since this was not a being but merely a medium through which the divinity behind him was doing all this.
It was a puppet, an artificial body for the divine.
[{( "More will come after US… Muhahahaha!" )}]
My vision was hazy but I could clearly see the enraged eyes, the soul-chilling expression of the headmaster.
-ZAAAAAA…!
[{( "Stop them all if you can, Usher of ***" )}]
The energy that he used intensified many fields in an instant and in the blink of an eye, the red body of the being, along with the boundaries that were created with its authorities, turned into particles of light.
[{( "Until… they become our-…!" )}]
With the fading voice, everything about the one in red also vanished.
"..."
However, the rage on the headmaster remained the same.
-OOOOOOOONG!
He glanced back at me, and saw the state I was in…
And then, he turned around without a word.
-Swish!
His eyes had been set in a different direction, up in the sky where yet another challenge in blue awaited him.
And, he knew he would… he must take it down before he could pay attention to the darkness that was now present in the central area where Eon had been present along with the [Lifeblood]...
