Chapter 26: Chapter 26: Maple
Tetras.
It's a puzzle game that everyone knows, featuring four clumps of blocks.
This game was born in the 80's, A game that remains sophisticated and never gets old.
This is a step that cannot be overlooked.
The Nikkendo team doesn't have any particular objections.
"If we're going to focus on Tetras, a package of titles from around Famicom would be nice."
I nodded and responded to the words of the man from the development department.
"Yes. We're focusing on titles with as few words. If possible, I'd like to see titles from other companies as well."
"Okay, I'll get in touch with the software maker regarding that."
And so we made plans for future software releases.
The discussion went smoothly and ended when the schedule for the future was finalized.
As for the other Retro All-Star titles, I'd like to keep them under wraps until before their release.
After the meeting was over, the sales manager called out to me.
"Ms. Marderita. Will you stay in Japan during the localization process?"
In the past, I was in Japan all the time, supervising the localization while manufacturing the converter.
But this time, I couldn't do that.
"I have some duties selling Switz, so I'd like to go back to Mardea and do some translation work over there. I'll be working with our employees to localize it while communicating with the Earth."
"Oh, so you have friends there, too."
"Yes, but not many."
After discussing with the manager, I left the branch office building.
Outside, there seemed to be quite a gathering of onlookers.
"Lina's coming out."
"Lina, Look over here!"
I guess the news spread that I'm coming to the Tokyo office.
There was a huge crowd, but the police people kept a tight security.
The sales manager and I quickly made our way to the car and headed to a warehouse in the suburbs.
"You'll find the Switz in the warehouse over there."
Now, it is time for my transport plane.
The first thing I'll do is leave the 20,000 converter parts I brought with me in the warehouse.
After that, the empty transport plane was packed with 6,000 Swits, peripherals, and software.
That was the end of the job for this time.
"Well then, thank you very much."
I activated the device on my arm and left the planet.
Planet Maldea.
I appeared in the usual laboratory.
The only thing that' s accurate is when I go back, because I jump using the device to the warp room.
As I talked to myself, I went to the office where the two friends were waiting for me.
"I'm back."
When I entered the second floor of the building, I saw both of them looking kind of tired.
"Oh, Lina. You're finally back…."
"You're slow."
"What happened? such disheartened looks."
I sat down and ask her. Sania said as she lay limp on the desk.
"I don't know what to do. All I get are calls asking if Switz is back in stock yet, and also asking whether we wanted to sell it or not…"
"The toy store keeps calling us and complaining about all the customer complains. I'm getting sick of it…"
Oh, I see.
"Thank you for handling the call, both of you. I' ve got 6,000 units in stock, so lets start shipping them out from the first order."
"Six thousand units. I think they'll be sold out soon."
"Hmm. I have been told they are taking reservations at the store, so that will probably take out half of it."
Apparently, the demand is quite high.
I guess I'll have to ask Nikkendo to increase production as soon as possible.
However, that will take a time from now.
For now, we have to sell what we have.
We decided to contact the first person on the order list and ship them through the Warp Bureau.
Sania sighs as she checks the address of the dealer.
"Haaah. We should hire someone to help us. It's too much work for the three of us to do everything."
"Umu. Sania, please post it on the official page later that we recruiting employees or part-time workers."
"I got it"
Sania nodded at Galena's words as she continued her work.
As soon as we finished the shipment to the warp bureau, we immediately decided to create a page to recruit employees.
"I'd like to have someone come quickly."
Sania complained, but she did a good job designing it.
And so the work finally came to an end.
Half of the Switz I got today has probably already been sent to the dealers.
"Good work, you two. Oh, yes, I' ve decided on the new Switz software."
"What? We're going to release it even though the console is out of stock?"
Galena raises her head, surprised.
"It's still a long way from launch. First, we have to localize it.The title is Legend of Zeldo, and a set of retro games, the main software is Tetras."
"Oh, you have good taste. I like Zeldo."
"Hmm. Tetras is something I'll have to work my way through."
Both of them must have already played the untranslated version. They start praising the game.
This is going to be good.
But today, both Sania and Galena looked worn out.
"Let's start the translation work tomorrow, shall we? Would you like a souvenir to take home?"
"Souvenir? What's it?"
I nodded to Galena, who raised her head, and took out the bag.
"Yes. This is cookies made with maple syrup from a country called Canada."
I open the bag and put it on the table, and Sania picks up a cookie and eats it.
"Oh, it's sweet. It has a strange taste."
"Mmm, good for a tired body."
Both of them ate it up.
Maybe it's relatively good.
"Do you think I could sell this syrup in Maldaea?"
"Yes. As long as you can find a place to put it."
Galena is being realistic.
Can I put earth-grown food in your stores? That's the question. Well, it will be quite difficult.
It's not like video game, it's something you put in your stomach.
But I've been given a thousand bottles, and since I'm here, I'd like to give the people of Mardea a chance to eat a little bit of it.
As I was struggling, Sania offered me a helping hand.
"I know someone who owns a pastry shop. Do you want me to introduce you to her?"
"Really? Then, please do."
The next day. Sania introduced me to a small store in the metropolitan area.
It was a small store called Colifon Confectionery. It seems to sell mainly sugar confections.
I was greeted by a woman with white hair.
"I'm Kathy Sherrard, the store manager. It's a private store, so it's not much of a business."
Ms. Sherrard smiled lightly and said so. She appears to be a very nice person.
"My name is Lina Marderita. I'm also from a small company with three employees, but I look forward to working with you."
"Nice to meet you. Sania's told me about you. You guys sell Earth products, right? I don't know anything about Earth, but Sania said it was delicious, so I was curious. There's something unusual and sweet about it, isn't there?"
"Yes. This is maple syrup."
I take out the bottle of syrup first and put it on the table.
"Oh. Liquid sweeteners are unusual, aren't they?"
She opens the bottle and begins to taste it
"It's sweet. It's very different from sugar."
"Yes. Here's a confection made with it."
When I took out the cookies, Ms. Sherrard's attention changed to the cookies.
"So pretty! Leaf cookies, right?"
As she carried it to her mouth, she said.
"It's delicious. I hope you don't mind if I serve this at my place. Of course, I'll make my own arrangements."
"Yes, of course."
Ms. Sherrard immediately decided to order maple syrup from me.
However, since it is a private store, the first order was for about fifteen bottles.
"I'm sure she's doing something interesting, because Sania talks about her work so happily. I'm going to make this syrup into a product that I can sell. It's going to take some time, but I' ll do my best."
"Yes!"
I shook hand with her and left the store.
