Chapter 111: Izumi Miyamura: Xover - Chapter 109
Author's Notes: Chapter edited and corrected by Scott Fellman.
I shuddered at how deep and malicious his voice sounded. He definitely knew how to act like a villain.
All Might launched himself at us. In a split second, he was in front of us. I threw the still-stunned Midoriya behind me while I put my right hand inside the sleeve of my left arm's kimono. I grabbed the Enma hilt the instant my hand entered my shadows and coated it with Haki.
My sword connected with All Might's fist. I gritted my teeth at the sheer force of his fist. I didn't have time to prepare enough, so my sword was easily knocked back. All Might lunged at me again, but instead of attacking me, he circled around me and went after Midoriya.
I clicked my tongue, hit the ground hard, and appeared behind Midoriya. I grabbed his neck once more and pulled him back, preventing All Might from grabbing him. Midoriya was still in front of me, so I easily manipulated his body to spin him around at the same time I attacked with my sword. All Might raised his hand and received my sword against his forearm without giving an inch.
All Might swung his arm and pushed my sword back again. Damn monster. He tried to attack Izuku again, but I moved Midoriya's body again.
"Come on, Midoriya!!" I yelled in annoyance. I let go of Midoriya and placed both hands on Enma's hilt, Sun Breathing: Dance. I infused Enma's entire blade with Haki and struck downwards with all my might. All Might, instead of defending himself, intercepted my sword with an uppercut. I could see his knuckles infuse with a bit of Armor Haki.
The clash between us cracked the ground beneath us as we fought for dominance. I gritted my teeth and pushed harder, only for All Might to do the same, and harder. Finally, my sword was knocked back once more. I gritted my teeth.
" Rabbit Escape!" I shouted loudly. From my shadow, my ever-present escape rabbit, it exploded into clones, filling our entire vision with rabbits. I had discovered my fatal weakness: I couldn't make shadow figures with my hand if I was using my swords. The solution? Keep my rabbit summoned and hide it in my shadows as long as possible.
I grabbed Midoriya, who was stunned, and we entered my shadow without hesitation.
"Listen, we have to distract him somehow. He won't let us escape easily. I'll try to be his decoy, try to join the fight when it seems best to you, I-" my words were interrupted when I heard my shadows break for the first time, even within my shadows, what I considered a safe space, All Might's enormous hand appeared.
" WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'RE ESCAPING TO, HEROES? " All Might asked simply with a piercing gaze. A chill ran down my spine as I paled slightly.
All Might had entered my shadows. Fucking All Might had somehow broken my quirk and entered my shadows without my permission. I barely had time to move when All Might's hand grabbed me by the neck and forcibly pulled me from my shadow, returning me to the real world.
I'd sucked a large amount of air into my shadows to counteract the fact that there was no way to breathe inside, and it worked, so Midoriya wasn't in danger of suffocating to death. So I simply faced the monster that was All Might.
I didn't try to break free; I knew it would be useless, so I faced All Might and opened my mouth. I manipulated the shadows inside my mouth, which grew and covered my entire jaw instantly, and I pushed hard. Wado Ichimonji shot out of my mouth towards All Might's head. All Might dodged Wado Ichimonji. I bit the hilt at the same time I eliminated my shadows, and I manipulated it with ease to return it to its usual position.
From my sleeves, I dropped Enma, who had returned to my shadows, and Sendai Kitetsu. I raised both hands and placed my swords on the edge of Wado Ichimonji. I infused the three swords with haki once more. Ul -Tora Gari. I slashed downwards with both of my swords while aiming at All Might.
All Might finally let go of me and used both of his haki-coated arms to defend himself. Our haki collided again, creating a shockwave that spread. The slashes from my swords extended behind All Might for dozens of meters, but All Might barely gave way a few centimeters.
"OH?! THREE SWORDS! SHOULD I FEEL HONORED, YOUNG MIYAMURA?! YOU NEVER USE THREE SWORDS IN TRAINING! " All Might chirped, his voice barely showing that he was making any effort to stop my attack. I clicked my tongue and finally broke our clash and began to attack him rapidly.
All Might was right, I preferred to use a sword and use my breathing styles, more elegant, more precise, more practical and easier to control, without using haki, most of my attacks were simply designed against a single target, some could be used against several, but since it was intended to be used against humanoid targets and used by 'normal' people, no attack was what could be considered 'strong'.
My three-sword style was the complete opposite. Oh, it still had a great deal of grace and fluidity, which was necessary to be able to use three swords without severing a limb. However, most of the attacks were more destructive than the last, all designed to be used against enemies of immense durability or large size.
I could easily destroy buildings, I'd have to hold back too much if I used my three-sword style constantly to avoid collateral damage. But now I didn't have to hold back, not against All Might.
My arms quickly blurred as I tried to attack All Might with all my might. All Might moved as well, his arms moving at the same speed as my swords. His fists collided with my swords again and again. 20, 50, 100, 200, 300, 400 clashes, and counting.
All Might's punches generated so much impact force that they destroyed everything behind me, while my swords continued to slash behind All Might. The ground behind me was utterly destroyed, while the ground behind All Might was riddled with hundreds of cuts.
The confrontation lasted for several long seconds, seconds in which hundreds more clashes were exchanged at high speed. My eyes easily followed All Might's movements, until All Might decided to increase his speed.
I gritted my teeth on Wado Ichimonji and increased my speed, but I was a split second too slow. All Might defended himself against my attacks, and his fist finally broke through my defense, slamming into my stomach, making me gasp in pain. Just as I shot out at high speed to the other side of the battlefield, I left him a small gift.
The exact moment I flew out, Midoriya finally stepped out of All Might's shadow, where I had left him, and immediately slammed his fist into All Might's unsuspecting jaw. Midoriya's decisive blow made All Might shake.
Midoriya and I hit the ground at the same time and immediately turned around to run for the exit. It was impossible to defeat him. Curiously, the bitter disappointment I had expected wasn't there. In fact, I was still completely excited about the fight. I still had a lot to improve, and I couldn't wait until I achieved it.
"WHERE ARE YOU GOING?" All Might asked, suddenly appearing between us. I flinched slightly, barely hearing him move. We were halfway to the exit, but Midoriya and I stopped.
This time, Midoriya didn't seem to hesitate; he attacked All Might with force, and I also tried to cut him with my sword. All Might defended himself from both attacks with the same ease as before. All Might quickly moved his hands, grabbed our arms by the wrists, and used his strength to shake us with extreme ease, as if we weighed nothing, then he slammed us together with force before letting go.
Midoriya and I both let out a muffled noise of pain but got back to our feet once more. I attacked All Might again with force; the exchange was just as quick as before, but this time, Midoriya was darting in and out of the fray, trying to hit All Might, only for All Might to defend against both of them.
"Stop using only your fists!" I couldn't help but yell at Midoriya, which seemed to stop them both. "Don't imitate your father! Use your legs, damn it! They're stronger! " I yelled once more. I could see All Might put on guard while Midoriya's eyes widened slightly. He stared at his legs for a few moments before bending down in a lunge position.
Midoriya launched himself at a much faster speed than usual. He was clumsy and definitely not used to it, but he was able to get inside All Might's defense and connect another blow. It hit All Might's torso and barely staggered him, but it was a significant blow nonetheless.
Just enough to get away from him and into position. I crossed both hands with my swords pointed skyward, letting Armor Haki flow freely through my swords as the green aura slowly began to cover me before exploding.
"Rengoku Oni Giri." I hit the ground hard and accelerated towards All Might.
" St. Louis Smash!!!" I heard Midoriya shout as he also launched himself at the same time towards All Might. All Might's aura grew, and both arms were reinforced with Haki, and he placed both forearms to receive both blows in the opposite direction.
Midoriya and I punched All Might at the same time, everything around us exploding once more as All Might defended himself from our attack. All Might was able to defend against Midoriya's kick, but his body wobbled once more, enough to take advantage of the slip.
My attack finally passed and, with great difficulty, pierced the thick shield that was All Might's aura and left a small wound on All Might's cheek. I smiled slightly.
"One more time!" I yelled at Midoriya once I landed on the ground. My shadow darkened. "Escape-"
"YOU WON'T!" All Might exclaimed, interrupting, his fist going towards the ground. I tried to jump away from the destruction, but instead of hitting the ground, All Might's fist went through my shadow once more. My eyes widened as All Might pulled the escaping rabbit out.
How the hell does he keep doing that?!?!
I had a brief glimmer of hope, thinking he was going to kill him—I could use Totality too—but instead, All Might turned around and threw Escape Rabbit into the sky, breaking the damn sound barrier. I watched in disbelief as Escape Rabbit flew a great distance away before undoing the summon in a pool of shadows in the air.
All Might began to focus on me once more. I couldn't summon him again. Dropping my swords at this moment would be a terrible mistake. So I gritted my teeth and remained on the defensive. Midoriya tried to intervene once more, but this time, we were both quickly struck by All Might, sending us far away in the same direction.
We both recovered in the air and landed ready to continue fighting. I clicked my tongue.
"Any ideas?" I asked Midoriya as we caught our breath. All Might was letting us breathe. He was slowly walking towards us. He wasn't doing much of anything special, but he was incredibly threatening just walking along impassively.
"None," Midoriya said almost resignedly. "He's too strong, too fast, too durable… too… overwhelming." Midoriya's eyes widened slightly. He leaned closer to me and began to mutter. "What if… what if our test isn't winning or escaping? Dad —All Might—he said our goal is to fight against overwhelming force… what if the test is to fight and not give up even when it's impossible to win?" Midoriya muttered quickly and quietly.
Blink slightly.
"That... is something Aizawa would come up with." I growled in frustration. It was annoying, but Aizawa would be someone who thought that way. Midoriya nodded. "Okay, new plan. I have... a couple of things to try. If they don't work, we'll just tough it out. It's not like we have any other choice." I finally said. Midoriya laughed hollowly.
"Yes… All Might certainly isn't holding back," Midoriya said, surrenderedly. "I'll follow your example," he said finally. I took a deep breath before dropping my swords into my shadow. All Might saw the action and raised his eyebrow.
" YIELDING, HERO? IS THAT ALL YOU GOT? " All Might asked mockingly, my hands forming the shape of a rabbit. "AGAIN? I THOUGHT I MADE IT CLEAR THAT IT WAS USELESS." All Might said, he didn't even sound arrogant; it was a simple fact. That was the pure brute and overwhelming strength of All Might. And it hurt, for now, I only had rabbit escape, but I had barely done anything to distract All Might. I really needed the other shikigami.
Halfway through forming my shadow, I stopped stiffly and looked over All Might's shoulder My eyes widened, I ignored my rabbit and aimed behind All Might without hesitation.
"It's Shigaraki!!" I yelled loudly. All Might's eyes opened wide, and without hesitation, he started to turn around. At the same instant, I also turned towards the exit door, grabbing Midoriya by the waist, who was also looking for Shigaraki behind All Might. I hit the ground with everything I had without holding anything back.
All Might wouldn't stay distracted for too long, but even a split second would make a difference. Godspeed.
"WAIT!" I ignored All Might's shout and accelerated. In a split second, I was at the exit. That damn monster All Might caught up faster than I could move, and he was inches away from grabbing me before I even crossed the exit door.
But to my surprise, Midoriya quickly recovered from the disorientation and sudden movement, adapting immediately. He latched onto my body and twisted in the air, his foot slamming into All Might's hand hard and knocking his grip off.
All Might didn't have time to try to grab me again as I crossed the finish line and stopped. Midoriya and I stood in disbelief outside the victory line as we stared in disbelief at All Might, who was frozen behind the line with his hand raised.
The three of us remained in almost deathly silence. Had that thing worked?! I was in complete disbelief, something I could tell All Might and Midoriya shared as well.
"…"
"…"
"…"
"Don't tell Aizawa I fell for that?" All Might asked almost pleadingly.
"It's all recorded, All Might. Heh." Recovery Girl's condemning voice came through the speakers as she burst into laughter. I finally lost it and burst out laughing as I collapsed to the ground. Midoriya quickly joined in. I even saw All Might smirk slightly.
"My arms all over hurt, trading blows with you is like punching metal, like when I was a kid. I can still feel my bones shaking from the exertion." I groaned lightly. All Might chuckled lightly.
"You're powerful, young Miyamura. You made me stretch myself a bit there." All Might said with a huge smile. I looked at him flatly.
"You're not even sweating," I said dryly. All Might laughed awkwardly as he rubbed the back of his head.
"I still tried hard? You left me with a wound! " All Might said shyly as he pointed at his cheek. I rolled my eyes.
"It's healed now." I said just as dryly. All Might touched his cheek, noticing that yes, the small wound had already closed, barely a thin line on his skin. I snorted in annoyance. "I understand the annoyance the girls feel when I'm teaching them and I barely make an effort to keep up with them," I said dryly. All Might laughed lightly.
"It's good to know both sides of the coin," All Might said wisely. I snorted.
"Sure, now that I know how annoying it is, I'll make sure to make even more fun of them," I said simply. They both looked at me in confusion.
"Uh... wouldn't it be the other way around, Young Miyamura? Aren't you supposed to try harder to be more understanding with them? " All Might asked slowly. I snorted.
"Of course not. My duty as their boyfriend, fiancé, and teacher is to relentlessly tease them. It comes with the roles I mentioned. Plus, it's part of my chaotic alignment ." I said as if forcing it to be obvious. All Might looked horribly confused, but Midoriya laughed lightly.
"Chaotic neutral?" Midoriya asked amusedly. I snorted.
"Unfortunately, I had a good mother, so unfortunately, chaotic good." I snorted my torment. Midoriya covered his mouth as he laughed lightly.
"Sounds like a lot of suffering for you," Midoriya said, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "But I guess your chaotic goodness is good. You've helped me with my Quirk several times. It hadn't occurred to me to use my legs," Midoriya said excitedly. I snorted.
"Sooner or later it would have occurred to you," I said simply. And it would have, maybe... I think Midoriya had designed that fighting style to avoid using his arms, which were almost in pieces from constantly breaking them, but since that never happened here, I wasn't so sure.
"Even so...thank you." Midoriya said with a bright and cheerful smile.
Well, this exam was a success, I guess. I won the war, but I lost the battle… or something like that. I just want to know how the others are doing. I've been looking forward to seeing those matches.
