Chapter 4: Legacy of the Sage God
---
Seeing Gu Xuan being effortlessly expelled from the room was enough proof of the overwhelming power hidden within this book. A brilliant white light engulfed the entire building, and suddenly, a mysterious figure materialized before Ye Chen.
The figure, a man exuding an ancient and divine aura, observed Ye Chen from head to toe before nodding in approval.
"An Ancient Yang Body… not bad," he remarked, his voice carrying a trace of admiration.
The man's eyes gleamed as he continued, "I am the Sage God, one of the Five True Gods of the past. I left a fragment of my soul within this book, hoping that one day, someone would be worthy of inheriting my power. Today, you have activated my legacy, which means you are now qualified to receive my inheritance."
If anyone in the God Realm had heard the name Sage God, they would have been ecstatic—receiving an inheritance from such a legendary figure was beyond priceless. Yet, Ye Chen did not share the same excitement.
"Senior, there must be a mistake," Ye Chen said hesitantly. "I only touched the book—I didn't do anything special."
He was well aware that this entity had the power to repel Gu Xuan effortlessly, which meant harming or even killing him would be just as easy. The thought unsettled him.
Sensing Ye Chen's unease, the Sage God smiled faintly. "Calm yourself. I have no intention of harming you. Let me explain so you understand."
He pointed toward Ye Chen's neck. "To activate my inheritance, possessing this book alone is not enough. A special key is required—and that key is the necklace you wear."
Ye Chen looked down and saw that his grandfather's necklace was glowing with a deep red hue. Shocked, he asked, "Senior… what exactly is this necklace?"
The Sage God's gaze deepened. "That is a Fire Crystal, one of the Eight Elemental Crystals. These crystals represent the fundamental forces of nature—Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Lightning, Light, Darkness, and Dimension. They are scattered across the universe, and you happen to possess one of them."
His expression grew solemn. "I do not have much time left to answer all your questions. Prepare yourself to receive my inheritance."
Raising his hand, the Sage God summoned a single droplet of shimmering blood at his fingertip. It pulsed with an ancient power that seemed indestructible.
"This is a drop of my blood, purified over millions of years. It carries the essence of my existence—once it merges with your body, your veins and meridians will be reforged to match my own. The process will be painful… but necessary."
Before Ye Chen could fully process his words, the Sage God flicked his finger, sending the drop of blood straight into Ye Chen's chest.
As soon as it made contact, a searing heat spread through his body, and his bloodline began to undergo an irreversible transformation.
"Senior, where should I search for the remaining seven Crystals?" Ye Chen asked.
The Sage God sighed. "That depends on your luck. The crystals are scattered across the world, and it's highly likely that some of them have already fallen into the hands of others."
He then gestured toward the ancient book. "As for cultivation techniques and other knowledge, everything you need is within this book. I can only hope that you will succeed in accomplishing the mission I failed to complete in the past."
The Sage God looked at Ye Chen with a solemn expression. "Since you have accepted my inheritance, the responsibility you will bear in the future will be immense. My task is now complete... it is time for me to depart."
As he finished speaking, his body became more transparent, gradually fading from existence.
"Wait, Senior! What do you mean by 'mission'? Explain it to me first!" Ye Chen called out, but before he could finish his sentence, the last remnants of the Sage God's soul had already vanished.
The ancient book, which had been floating mid-air, suddenly transformed into a beam of light and shot into Ye Chen's mind. At that moment, countless streams of information flooded his consciousness—everything from the Sage God's cultivation methods to rare Heavenly-level techniques that only Sage Deities could use.
As Ye Chen processed the information, he realized something remarkable. Despite the overwhelming amount of knowledge, he could comprehend everything with ease, as if his mind had been enhanced by the Sage God's power.
One particular discovery shocked him—cultivators were known to possess a total of 52 deep veins, yet after inheriting the Sage God's power, Ye Chen now had 60.
Deep veins were crucial for cultivation. The more veins a person had, the faster they could absorb Qi energy, accelerating their cultivation speed. However, these additional eight veins were unique—they represented the eight profound elements of the Sage God. Out of the eight, one was already activated.
Flame Vein – Requires a Fire Crystal to unlock.
Special Ability: Temporarily amplifies the user's strength tenfold, but if the user's cultivation level is too low, it could cause severe backlash.
The ancient book, now integrated into Ye Chen's consciousness, functioned like a mystical system. However, it only displayed information related to fire veins and fire techniques. The details of the other veins remained locked.
Ye Chen quickly realized the implication—if he wanted to access the remaining techniques and powers, he would need to find the other seven Sage God Crystals.
Among the unlocked techniques, one stood out to him the most:
True God Body Technique – A cultivation method divided into ten tiers, each enhancing the user's physical strength by multiple folds.
This technique, once mastered, would grant an unimaginably powerful body, but reaching its highest level required relentless and extreme physical training.
After absorbing the knowledge, Ye Chen took a deep breath and stood up. He was ready to leave the building, but as he approached the exit, he noticed the barrier sealing the structure was still intact.
Just as he was about to think of a way to dispel it, the barrier instantly vanished on its own.
The moment it disappeared, a shadowy figure rushed inside, stopping abruptly in front of Ye Chen.
