Journey to become a God

Chapter 7: Terror in the Forest

Teleportation stones were rare and expensive items in the God Realm. These mystical artifacts could instantly transport a person to their desired location, but there was a catch—the coordinates were never precise, and one would always arrive somewhere near the intended destination.

As Ye Chen's vision adjusted, he found himself surrounded by dense trees. Taking a deep breath, he inhaled the familiar air of Earth. "Finally, after all this time, I've returned," he muttered to himself.

Though Earth's spiritual energy was thin compared to the God Realm, there were still a few untouched places where pure energy remained unpolluted. If he could find such a place, he might even be able to break through to the Overlord Realm.

Ye Chen ascended into the sky, flying at a steady pace as he scanned the area. His keen eyes searched for anything of value—perhaps a rare medicinal herb hidden within this pristine forest.

Suddenly, a familiar sight caught his attention—a wild mountain rooster, the very same kind he used to eat in his village. A nostalgic smile crossed his face. Back then, these chickens were difficult to catch due to their incredible speed, and he had always relied on traps. But now, he no longer needed such methods.

In a blink, Ye Chen vanished from his spot and reappeared behind the rooster. With a swift movement, he grabbed its legs before it could even react. The bird flapped its wings frantically, but it was too late.

"Hahaha! I haven't had a good meal in ages. Tonight, I'll feast properly!" Ye Chen grinned, gripping the chicken firmly.

Without wasting time, he searched for a nearby river. Once he found one, he swiftly slaughtered the bird, plucked its feathers, and cleaned it with practiced efficiency. Within minutes, the meat was ready for cooking.

Gathering firewood was no trouble for Ye Chen. With a mere thought, his mental strength extended outward, and dry branches and twigs from the surrounding area flew toward him, neatly piling up in front of him.

Now, all that was left was to start a fire and enjoy a well-earned meal.

"Now, all that's left is to gather some spices," Ye Chen murmured to himself.

He wandered through the forest, searching for wild herbs and spices. Within a few minutes, he had gathered a handful of fresh ingredients. Returning to his makeshift cooking area, he crushed the spices and rubbed them onto the chicken, ensuring the flavors would seep into the meat.

With the firewood stacked neatly, Ye Chen extended his finger, producing a small flame to ignite the wood. He made sure to use only a weak, controlled fire—if he used his deep fire, the entire pile would turn to ashes within seconds.

As the flames crackled, he skewered the chicken and began roasting it over the fire, slowly turning it to cook evenly. The rich aroma of roasted meat filled the air, making his stomach growl in anticipation.

Lifting the perfectly cooked chicken, he inhaled deeply. "It smells amazing... but it's a shame there's no barbecue sauce. If I had some, this roast chicken would taste even better," he mused.

Just as he was about to take a bite, a desperate cry rang through the forest.

"Help...! Please...!"

Ye Chen's eyes sharpened. Without hesitation, he dropped the chicken and disappeared in an instant, moving toward the source of the cry.

Moments later, he arrived at the scene. A young woman, her clothes torn and disheveled, was running frantically through the forest. Behind her, two men in black masks were in pursuit, each carrying an AK-47 assault rifle.

"Terrorists?" Ye Chen muttered, quickly assessing the situation.

The woman, exhausted and struggling, felt her body growing weaker. Her legs wobbled, her vision blurred, and the heat coursing through her body made it even harder to keep moving.

"Aahhh!" she screamed as she stumbled, falling to the ground.

Panting, she turned and saw the two armed men closing in. Desperation filled her eyes as she shut them tightly, bracing herself for the worst.

But instead of gunfire, she heard a sudden thud—the sound of something heavy hitting the ground.

Opening her eyes, she saw a young man standing in front of her. He had long hair, wore modest clothing, and exuded a calm yet overwhelming presence.

She had no idea who he was, but in that moment, hope flickered in her heart.

The woman barely had time to glance at the figure before her vision went dark, and she collapsed unconscious.

Meanwhile, the two masked men stopped in their tracks, startled by the sudden appearance of someone dropping from the sky. Without hesitation, they raised their AK-47s and aimed at Ye Chen.

Upon seeing the young man in tattered clothes, one of them sneered. "Hey, kid, get lost while you still can. This doesn't concern you. Otherwise, you'll regret it."

Ye Chen, unfazed by their threats, smirked. "Oh? And what exactly are you going to do about it?"

"You little—!" The terrorist on the right snarled and lifted his rifle, ready to pull the trigger.

"Wait!" his partner interjected with a sinister grin. "Why waste a bullet? Let's have some fun first. We'll break him little by little until he begs for mercy."

With that, the man who had spoken slipped on a heavy iron glove, cracking his knuckles as he stepped forward. "I'll handle him myself."

Ye Chen couldn't help but laugh inwardly at the man's arrogance. Does he really think he can land a hit on me?

As the terrorist swung his fist toward Ye Chen's face, Ye Chen effortlessly caught him by the neck with lightning speed. Before the man could even react, Ye Chen slammed him into the ground with immense force.

BANG!

The sickening sound of bones breaking echoed through the forest.

The second terrorist's eyes widened in shock as he watched his partner get taken down in an instant. Panic set in, and he instinctively opened fire.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Bullets tore through the air, but not a single one hit Ye Chen. His movements were too fast—so fast that all the terrorist could see was a blur.

Before the gunman could comprehend what was happening, Ye Chen was already in front of him. In a single, precise motion, Ye Chen thrust his palm into the man's chest.

A loud thud echoed as the impact sent shockwaves through the terrorist's body. He felt his internal organs shift violently, pain searing through his entire being. The force of the blow launched him several meters backward until he crashed into a tree, blood spilling from his mouth.

With both men lying unconscious, Ye Chen turned his attention back to the woman. But just as he took a step toward her, he suddenly froze.

His sharp senses picked up multiple figures swiftly approaching from the distance.

He wasn't alone.
