Chapter 56: Chapter 56: Game Clearance
Miss Sadako, burdened by severe social anxiety, stubbornly refused to come out and entertain the guests.
Amamiya Natsuki, as a handsome and "powerful" boy, naturally attracted many female players eager to become his loyal followers.
But…
Taking one quick glance at the ice sculpture-like girl standing quietly beside him, many female players put aside their thoughts immediately.
No contest.
Absolutely no contest.
Though she had a flat chest, she was undeniably beautiful—so beautiful that if she walked down the street, talent scouts would beg her to join their agency.
Countless examples have proven that beauty easily outweighs figure.
As long as you look good enough, small breasts don't matter!
"Don't be nervous. Miss Sadako is actually very easy to get along with. She just likes to sneak around and eavesdrop. She would never hurt anyone."
Seeing the atmosphere dip into awkward silence, Fujiwara Chika—the shining light of humanity—stepped forward and took on the role of mistress of ceremonies.
"This game is dangerous."
"So we must unite and help each other overcome the challenges together."
Fujiwara clasped her hands in front of her chest, her whole body seeming to radiate light.
"We must return safely to the real world—without leaving anyone behind."
Ah, so dazzling!
Amamiya Natsuki raised his hands to shield his eyes.
Is this the legendary light of humanity?
Her public speaking skills were incredible—effortlessly boosting low morale. Fujiwara was a natural politician and might just become the world's first female prime minister!
Thanks to Fujiwara's empathy, the mood gradually lifted.
Players started chatting and sharing what they had found.
After all, humans are creatures who huddle together for warmth.
Amamiya Natsuki listened quietly, realizing that these were all miserable newbies, mostly scared and clueless about why they had been chosen for the game.
His heart stirred.
Horror games weren't around that long after all—everyone was still figuring out how to survive.
While mulling this over, he felt his little finger twitch.
Glancing discreetly, he saw Fujiwara Chika winking with a bright, sunny smile, quietly making a scissors-hand gesture.
Amamiya withdrew his gaze and returned to his thoughts.
A few seconds later, his finger was hooked again.
Hey, you're addicted to playing!
He looked at his little finger. Now that vengeful spirit Kaguya was dealt with, could he finally untie the red rope?
Curious, he touched the finger but felt nothing unusual—he sighed and gave up.
Obviously, this wouldn't be solved anytime soon.
Maybe he could learn Morse code someday and use the red rope to send messages?
Lost in thought, his little finger twitched again.
"You're still here?"
"Hey-hey."
The girl with the bow hairpin on her bangs tilted her pretty face up, proud and confident.
"There's no such thing as three-time failure. Now I'll show you what it means to quit when enough is enough!"
Amamiya suddenly raised his little finger in response.
They quietly played finger games for a long time.
…
"The hallway lights up."
Amamiya and the others returned to the corridor and went straight to the nurses' station.
The nurse sat behind the desk, motionless, her face covered with blood-stained gauze, silently staring down the corridor—obviously slacking off.
The trio searched around the nurse, and Fujiwara even tidied the messy desk.
"No key here."
"Could it be on the nurse herself?"
"Very likely."
"Then there's no other way..." Fujiwara pointed at the nurse. "Outlaw Zhang-san, I call you. Do you dare answer me?"
The nurse, who had been as still as a statue, let out a hoarse voice and gripped an oversized bloodstained syringe, clearly annoyed at being interrupted while slacking off.
Pop.
Amamiya pressed on the nurse's shoulder. "Zhang-san, you're under arrest."
The nurse froze immediately.
"Kaguya-chan, let's find the key together."
The two girls teamed up and quickly found the key in the nurse's pocket.
Then came the trouble.
As soon as Amamiya released her hand, the nurse resumed her crooked walk, syringe in hand, chasing after them.
The anti-pornography and anti-illegal-publication duo was powerful but only against a single target. Their real effect was to restrict vengeful spirits' actions—not to eliminate them.
That was manageable before, but now with a vengeful lady chasing from behind, the problem became clear.
They didn't know what awaited in the last ward—and definitely couldn't bring the nurse along. Being attacked from both sides would be disastrous.
"Kaguya-chan, want to try your weapon?"
Fujiwara suddenly suggested.
"Let me try."
Shinomiya Kaguya nodded. She had never used the exclusive weapon from the Hundred-Man Killing Mission before.
Amamiya watched in curiosity as Kaguya's bow model suddenly grew larger and transformed into a real longbow.
A faint light shimmered over her body as her school uniform changed into a red-and-white shrine maiden's outfit.
Waist-length black hair.
The uniform fluttered without wind.
Kaguya looked like a real shrine maiden. She pulled the bowstring in an elegant stance, an arrow materialized from thin air, and flew straight toward the nurse.
The three watched expectantly as the arrow hit the nurse, snapping before dissipating.
The nurse flinched, clutching her chest.
No wound. No damage to clothes.
"..."
The corridor fell silent.
"I know about DPS scraping, but you're overdoing it! You shot an arrow that didn't even scratch her clothes!"
"Your pose is very handsome," Amamiya commented quietly. "Go hide in your room."
Knowing Miss Sadako's socially anxious personality, she would definitely stay hidden once back in the ward—no risk of a two-front attack.
Then the nurse said suddenly, "Do it again."
"Um?"
"Hurry up, shoot me again."
Her tone held a strange excitement and anticipation.
Fujiwara blinked and whispered, "Miss nurse... is she a masochist?"
Very likely.
Even a vengeful spirit wouldn't like being shot at—usually.
Kaguya bit her lip, drew the bow again, and released another arrow.
Amamiya expected another scraping attack, but after hitting the nurse, the light sealed her quickly, and she vanished.
"Hey, what just happened?" Fujiwara gasped. "Kaguya-chan scored a critical hit?"
"Maybe," Amamiya guessed. "The nurse was too lazy and deliberately let Kaguya-san seal her to avoid duty?"
"..."
The three approached the last ward.
"I'll open the door."
Amamiya used the key and successfully unlocked it.
As the frontline sin-nemesis, he stood at the front. Fujiwara and Kaguya were both fragile junglers—one wrong move and they could be killed instantly.
"Natsuki-san, be careful," Fujiwara warned nervously.
"Be careful," Kaguya whispered.
Natsuki nodded and pushed the door open.
Inside the dim ward lay a skinny little girl on a hospital bed.
A few books lay on the table beside her—one titled Warmth of Monday, another Embrace Life with ALS.
A tablet glowed softly next to her, illuminating the ward.
Amamiya stepped forward cautiously and looked at the tablet's screen.
A hand-drawn comic page showed corridors and rooms, with familiar Q-version avatars inside each small room.
Next to it was a sentence: I really want to see the hydrangeas in the rainy season again.
Suddenly, the tablet's light went out, and the ward and corridor plunged into darkness.
Amamiya gently tapped the tablet to wake the screen.
The corridor brightened again.
He placed the paper hydrangea into the girl's hands.
Then, the game prompt sounded:
"Player has completed the level. The game is over."
