Chapter 49: Chapter 49: Reunion — Minato’s Team Arrives!

Finally, Sara couldn't bear it any longer. She collapsed to the ground helplessly, covering her mouth as she sobbed softly.

Anrokuzan waved his right hand lightly, and a blade launched from the broken arm of a shattered puppet on the ground.

It aimed straight at Sara's exposed swan-like neck.

"Goodbye, then."

With a faint press of his hand, the blade shot forward—swift and deadly.

It seemed that she was about to die—

Clang!

Suddenly, a figure blurred in front of Sara and deflected the flying blade with a single slash!

It was Kakashi!

Huh?

Anrokuzan frowned deeply.

When did that brat get out?

He turned back to the giant war puppet that had been holding Kakashi captive—only to find that "Kakashi" inside had vanished, leaving behind fading arcs of lightning.

Lightning Style: Shadow Clone...?

Tch. Realization finally dawned.

But under such relentless pressure earlier, when did that punk create a clone without him noticing?

Kakashi smirked at Anrokuzan's expression but didn't bother explaining.

Back when he ended the sixth and final slash of the Hatake Sword Technique: Thunderbolt Flash, he had swapped himself with a Lightning Style Shadow Clone at the last instant.

That was the real trick.

It wasn't some flashy ninjutsu—it was timing. Precision. Control while moving at godspeed.

Not to brag, but he kind of nailed it.

Originally, Kakashi had planned to use the diversion to land a surprise blow.

But Anrokuzan had gone for Sara too quickly.

There was no choice. In order to save her, Kakashi had to give up the ambush and step in directly.

And now, they were back to square one.

"Kakashi...?"

Sara looked at him, stunned, disbelief in her eyes. Just moments ago, she had accepted her death.

She never expected this.

"Hey," Kakashi spoke without turning, still keeping his eyes on Anrokuzan, "the guy in front of you killed your mother. You gonna let him take you out with a party trick?"

"You're the Queen of Rōran."

"Remember your people. Remember your mother."

"You gonna let all that slide just because some sleazy villain pulled a knife?"

His tone was light, almost offhanded—but his words cut deeper than any blade.

Sara stood there stunned.

Then, jaw clenched, she quickly wiped her tears and rose from the ground with renewed determination.

"I'm going to free the others. Can you still hold him off?"

"Nope."

"Huh?!"

"I mean, probably not. Let's be real, he's got eight legs and a midlife crisis. I'm just here freelancing."

"Then why didn't you escape?"

"Because... protecting you is the mission Minato-sensei gave me." Kakashi shrugged. "Besides, if I bailed now, all that slacking off I did before would really come back to haunt me."

"Huh?" Sara blinked. That... was not the answer she had expected.

What time did he think this was? He was still hung up about slacking off?

"I really can't handle him alone," Kakashi admitted with a smirk, "but whoever said I was alone?"

Boom!

A massive arm crashed through the factory wall, creating an improvised entrance!

As the dust cleared, four shinobi with Konoha forehead protectors appeared.

It was Minato and his team!

Kakashi had sensed their approach earlier—he'd planted one of his Flying Thunder God kunai for Minato to use. All the stalling and sarcasm? Just buying time.

"Kakashi," Minato greeted with a calm nod.

"Kakashi-sensei!"

Naruto dashed up and circled around him, inspecting him with wide, curious eyes.

"Huh, weird! Even though I saw the clone earlier, you're way shorter than future you!"

Bonk!

Kakashi smacked Naruto on the head.

"Ever heard of respecting your elders?"

Based on the clone's info, Kakashi already knew Naruto would become his student in the future. So, the smack felt... natural.

"Owww!"

Naruto rubbed his head, but he didn't seem mad. Even though this version of Kakashi was younger and smaller, Naruto instinctively felt close to him.

"That's Anrokuzan, huh?"

Minato looked across the battlefield at the towering figure in the distance.

"Tch. You damned Konoha shinobi again!"

Before Kakashi could answer, Anrokuzan growled.

Boom!

"Partial Expansion Jutsu!"

Akamichi Chōza's massive right arm slammed into Anrokuzan with a brutal impact, burying him into the ground.

"Huh. That was easier than I thought."

Chōza blinked, a bit surprised at his own success.

But just as he thought it was over...

A wave of purple energy washed over Anrokuzan's crushed form.

He slowly stood up, fully restored.

"Here in Rōran, within the dragon vein, I am limitless! Ahahahaha!"

Dozens of puppets surged forward, gathering around Anrokuzan.

Then he suddenly pulled back his cloak.

With a surge of energy, his body transformed into a massive six-legged arachnid beast—over thirty meters long, with a human face twisted in arrogance.

"Behold—my ultimate form!"

His distorted voice echoed from the grotesque creature's face.

Kakashi stared in silence.

My god, a human-faced spider? Uncle, your aesthetic choices are criminal.

He grumbled inwardly. Both were puppeteers, sure, but Scorpion at least had style. This guy? Budget horror movie vibes.

Still, even with that ugly mug, the pressure he exuded was no joke.

Kakashi narrowed his eyes.

"Sara, you'll die here! Join your mother in the grave!"

Anrokuzan roared.

His massive front limbs shifted—reconfiguring into two enormous blades—then slammed down toward the shinobi!

Kakashi reacted instantly.

He teleported Sara to a safer corner of the factory using Flying Thunder God and returned to the squad.

"Minato-sensei, feels like it's been forever since we fought side by side."

"Yeah," Minato smiled calmly, "last time was during the Sand-Nin conflict with the Raikage."

"You teach me, I teach Naruto... Looks like the Third Hokage's will is alive and kicking."

Kakashi chuckled.

"Wait—how'd I just become two generations behind my dad?!" Naruto suddenly blurted out, processing the logic.

"Hahaha! Alright, then—time for a good old-fashioned team-up!"

Minato's gentle smile turned sharp with resolve.

"Hey, I'm here too, you know!" Chōza said, puffing his cheeks.

"Sigh... I knew it. Always forgotten."

Aburame Shibi muttered, crouched in his usual quiet gloom.

"Haha, of course we didn't forget you two."

Minato grinned.

"Let's go, everyone—together!"

"Ohhhh!!"
