Chapter 11: The Battle of Sanyou(7)

"Good job, Ren. You got them good." Shin praised me, as my men regrouped with the main force.

"We wouldn't allow the Le Hua to be demolished, after all. We need them to retreat." I said, as we continued.

However, we weren't safe just yet. As about 1000 men rode against us, its forefront was made out of men with the noticeable silver armour, while the remaining 700 kept the Wei armour.

"We've got incoming, Young Master. Please retreat." Ishiro said, as he spotted them, and I nodded.

"I'm not one for frontal combat, so I´ll retreat for now. Shin, Ou Hon, Ishiro, Raku. I leave the front to you." I said, as I let my horse slow down, letting me fall a few meters behind them.

Ishiro took point, with Shin and Raku on his wings, followed by Ou Hon. As skilled as the man was, he was still injured. And we'd prefer if he didn´t fight at all, till the duel.

And surprisingly, another figure came up, Kyou Kai. She formed up on Shin's left. Meaning we had 5 Commander-level fighters in the tip of our wedge.

I doubt we'd be stopped at all.

And even better, the enemy riders formed a counter wedge, and they were about 300 meters away, or 30 seconds away.

"KAEN, HOZU!" I shouted at the 2 men, although we were a distance away, they both turned.

"TO THE FRONT!" I shouted again, and they both quickly got to work. Speeding their horses forward as they began catching up to the front.

In a counter wedge, the tip was the most important. Meaning, if we crushed the tip of their wedge, their wings would be at a disadvantage. And no matter their average skill, facing 7 1000-Man Commanders at the tip, would put them at a serious disadvantage, even with their skill surpassing ours.

Now I´d say that Hozu, Raku and Kaen weren't as strong as either Kyou Kai, Shin Ou hon or Ishiro. But they were at the low-middle tier of the 1000-man Commander level, but in all honesty.

Shin was about to break through the 4000-Man Commander level, easily, and so was Ou Hon. While Ishiro was at the level of a 3000-Man Commander.

Now, Shin will indeed defeat Rin Ko later on, but I wouldn't call Shin a General-level fighter, just yet. For he lacks in experience, although he makes it up with his brawn. He still won't be at that level just yet.

However, my fussing was brought to an end as the 2 wedges clashed, and as I predicted. Their tip got decimated, the man at the tip was thrown into the air, alongside his horse by Ishiro, which started a wave of chaos in the Wei ranks.

Their tip was nothing more than one of Rin Ko´s lieutenants, his skill only being a few levels above the average soldier, perhaps a 1000-Man Commander, but he stood no choice.

In a single slash, Ishiro took out 5 men. Including the Commander.

But the others didn't slack either, Shin took out 5 of them, Ou Hon 7, even with his wounds. The sheer speed of his spear surpassed all else.

Kaen, Hozu, and Raku took out 4 each, Kyou Kai took out the most, using her special technique to rid us of 9 elites.

All of them were elites, equipped with Silver Armor. And the decimation which it's tip faced, quickly devastated the morale of Wei, especially their ordinary soldiers. While it boosted ours, as my men clashed against the Rin Ko Elites, and we were winning, and luckily we were locked down in duels.

Due to the tip, our momentum continued on. And therefore, we stopped the enemy wedge and crashed into them with 3-4 times their speed, and such a speed difference on horse. Would be difficult to make up with sheer skill.

Especially for the average soldier.

It didn´t take long for us to clear the Silver Wall, which it could be called. Meaning the troops in silver armour, as our opponents became the 700 casual Wei troops.

But they weren't precisely casual, they were elites in the standard of normal Wei Infantry or Cavalry, but casual in regards to Rin Ko´s unit.

"Shin, Ou Hon. I suggest you split your units off here, to fight." I said, and they both nodded. Signalising their Commanders, as the Hi Shin and Gyoku Hou Units split off, engaging the remaining 120 so Rin Ko Elites and 600 Wei Elites in single combat.

350 against 720.

Shin and Ou Hon still brought about 120 of their own men, in total. For the fight with Rin Ko, they didn´t want anyone interfering, but I doubted Rin had more than 50 elites left.

But, I also realised that we had done more damage than anticipated, meaning staying together as a large unit, 285 riders from the Ginryu Tai, would hardly be efficient. We'd simply be too large, as any reinforcements were far away.

So as such, I rode up to the front.

"Kaen, Hozu and Roku. Take your units and split up, you know the strategy." I shouted at them, and all 3 nodded. Raising their flag and splitting off, bringing their 100 men with them.

"Good luck, Shin, Ou Hon." I said, as I stopped. Followed by Ishiro, as planned.

I had no reason to continue on, my men were split off and up there I´d be facing a lot more problems, and I´d be occupied with Battle.

Surprisingly, Kyou Kai stopped as well, turning around. Likely intending to join her troops´ battle.

Our small coalition's main force, the cavalry. Were fighting the Wei Troops, outnumbered 2-1, and therefore. They needed some extra assistance, and Kyou Kai understood so as well.

"Alright, Ishiro. Let's head back and assist the Hi Shin and Gyoku Hou. We need to clear those 700 men out, to assure a potential retreat." I told the man, and he nodded. As we turned around and rode for the Battlefield, Kyou Kai followed behind us silently.

Not that I bothered, she was highly proficient with her breathing art, or whatever it was that allowed her to stop time.

And any help was welcome.

We quickly reached our troops, as we slammed into the enemy's backline.

Ishiro swung his glaive, it cut through 3 men with a single strike, before swinging it around again, cutting through an additional 4 as he continued on.

Meanwhile, Kyou Kai jumped off her horse, using her breathing art while she jumped from horse to horse, cleaving through the heads as she continued on, killing 9 in a single breath.

"Holy shit, she's good." I said, and Ishiro simply nodded.

But I put it into the back of my mind, as I swung my sword quickly, parrying an incoming slash. Before taking his head.

"Alright, let's go." I said, kicking my horse into gear as I rushed forward. Ishiro by my side as we cut through the enemy lines.
