Konata Doesn't Want To Be The Female Lead

Chapter 21: Chapter 21: Konata got conquered by the Heroine

"Today's classes were really boring…"

Walking on the way home after school, Konata lowered her head and said weakly.

Although she had received treatment from Recovery Girl earlier, that was when she had passed out. Whether it was almost becoming a headless senpai earlier or getting knocked out by Midoriya Izuku during the entrance exam, it was all the same. Only now did she realize that Recovery Girl's way of treating people was… quite special.

As she recalled those slowly approaching lips, Konata's mouth twitched.

Since it was the first day of enrollment, apart from the physical fitness test in the morning, there was basically nothing else for the entire day.

The setting sun dyed the ground golden, and bathed in this golden light, even her whole body seemed to relax.

"The first day really should be an adjustment period. But I feel like school life is going to be quite interesting from now on."

Asui Tsuyu joined in.

"I made quite a few friends today."

"Hmm… are you talking about that chuuni crow?"

After thinking for a moment, Konata's expression turned strange.

"So even in this kind of world, there are still chuunibyou? Is it like an inescapable curse or something?"

"I think you must have some misunderstanding about me, Konata-san."

Right on cue, a voice rang out beside Konata.

When she turned her head, she saw the crow-faced student, Tokoyami Fumikage, who had unknowingly caught up and was now walking alongside them, his face expressionless as he stared ahead.

"Chuunibyou? I have no idea what that even is. I would never act like that."

"'Do you think chuuni is the essence of my being?'… something like that?"

Tilting her head and thinking for a moment, Konata curiously asked him.

[Tokoyami Fumikage Favorability +20]

Before Tokoyami could reply, Konata received this system notification.

Konata: "..."

Still denying he's chuunibyou… Favorability is surprisingly easy to raise.

"I suddenly feel like we'll have a lot in common,"

Tokoyami said seriously.

"I think so too,"

Konata replied just as seriously and reached out her hand.

"My name is Konata. Quirk: Fantasy. Please take care of me."

"Tokoyami Fumikage. Quirk: Dark Shadow."

Reaching out and shaking her hand, Tokoyami kept his words brief.

"I feel like I just witnessed something very important…"

Tsuyu commented speechlessly.

——

In the Hero Course of U.A. High School, the morning schedule included regular academic classes—English, math, and so on. Most of the students were practically falling asleep.

Konata was definitely one of those people.

Honestly, she really wanted to just lay her head down and nap, but her seat placement was terrible: first row, by the door, basically right under the teacher's nose. If she wanted to sleep, she'd have to master sleeping with her eyes open.

And besides—

"Why English of all things…"

Propping her head with one hand and listening to Present Mic's overly enthusiastic voice, Konata just felt like complaining.

All the U.A. teachers were pro heroes. For example, their homeroom teacher Aizawa Shouta—Eraser Head—was a hero who could erase others' quirks just by looking at them. From a certain perspective, he was Konata's natural enemy. Even if she unlocked all her characters, one glare from him would end it all—unless something changed in the future.

And right now, their English teacher was none other than that loud, broom-haired hero from the entrance exam. Honestly, Konata couldn't even remember his name—she only remembered the megaphone-level voice.

(Yamada Hizashi, Hero Name: Present Mic. Quirk: Voice.)

Are all heroes this multi-talented…?

While thinking about that, Konata's mind started to wander, and before she knew it, she was daydreaming about whether Midoriya and Bakugo were more likely to end up in a classic rivals-turned-lovers plotline.

By the time the class ended, her brain was full of useless thoughts, and she hadn't taken in a single word.

"Haah… as someone who can only write English essays using pinyin, I feel like English and I are just destined to be enemies…"

As Present Mic left the classroom, Konata face-planted onto her desk. As for the sharp glares that someone had been sending her way since the start of class, she completely ignored them.

By the way, Bakugo Katsuki's favorability had dropped to -120.

——

"…Wanna eat together?"

Lifting her head from the desk, Konata saw the three standing in front of her. Her gaze paused slightly on Uraraka Ochako next to Midoriya.

She raised the dry bread slices she'd brought from her desk and said flatly:

"I already brought lunch."

"Bread like that doesn't provide proper nutrition. For your health, Konata-san, you should eat with us in the cafeteria!"

Pushing up his glasses, Iida Tenya advised seriously.

"No money. Can't afford it."

Rolling her eyes, Konata flopped back down on the desk, uninterested.

"The school cafeteria actually offers high-class meals at low prices…"

Midoriya kindly added, but Konata didn't budge.

"Cheap still costs money… and I don't have any source of income right now, you know…"

Her muffled voice came from the desk.

"Then, I'll treat you for lunch today!"

Uraraka said cheerfully. "I still have some allowance saved up!"

"…Really?"

Konata raised her head.

"Come on, let's go!"

Uraraka reached out her hand excitedly. "I heard the food here is really good, so we should hurry!"

"Thank you so much!!"

Without hesitation, Konata grabbed Uraraka's hand, and the two of them happily walked out hand-in-hand, completely forgetting the two boys behind.

Midoriya: "..."

Iida: "..."
