Chapter 87: Chapter 87: Angry Uchiha Itachi

Hokage's Office

The dim light of the Hokage's office cast long shadows over the mahogany desk. Sarutobi Hiruzen sat quietly, his pipe resting between his fingers, eyes fixed on Shimura Danzō. The air was heavy with tension.

"Danzo," Hiruzen began carefully, "are you certain this plan will work? Manipulating the villagers to turn against the Uchiha... it's a dangerous game."

Danzō tapped his fingers rhythmically on the desk, a sly confidence in his voice. "Hokage-sama, those villagers are blind with ignorance. They have no judgment. As long as I steer their suspicions, they will point the finger squarely at the Uchiha clan."

Hiruzen's face darkened. He remained silent for a long moment, the weight of his doubts pressing down on him. He did not trust Danzō's methods. Not at all. But Danzō was Hokage now. There was little he could do to stop him.

He exhaled, smoke curling from his pipe. "So, what are your next steps?"

"The Uchiha have always been isolated from the rest of Konoha. This incident will ruin what little reputation they have left," Danzō explained, his voice low and cold. "Once the village's hatred for them grows, I will have the perfect excuse to deploy forces against the Uchiha clan. A legitimate reason to wipe them out."

Hiruzen's eyes widened in shock. He had not anticipated Danzō's ruthlessness to this extent. The man was not merely seeking power—he was plotting the destruction of an entire clan.

He sighed quietly. The prospect of war between the village and the Uchiha was no longer a distant possibility—it was inevitable. And though Hiruzen wished otherwise, he realized he was powerless to prevent it.

Suddenly, a sharp knock knock knock echoed through the room.

"Enter," Danzō commanded.

The door opened, and a dozen or more figures clad in the dark uniforms of ANBU and Root quietly filed inside. They bowed deeply to Danzō.

"Hokage-sama, the mission you assigned has been completed," their leader reported respectfully.

Danzō nodded approvingly. "Excellent work. You may rest now."

The squad silently exited, leaving only Hiruzen and Danzō in the office.

Hiruzen watched their retreating backs with a wave of nostalgia. He remembered a time when he held the reins of power, a time when Konoha thrived under his steady hand. That era felt so far away now — gone forever.

Danzō smirked, his eyes sharp and calculating. "With these false accusations against the Uchiha, they will have no choice but to rebel. Once I have proof of their insurrection, I will strike swiftly and decisively. The Uchiha name will be erased from Konoha."

His voice was cold and unyielding.

Danzō had long coveted the Uchiha's Sharingan. This was the perfect opportunity to exterminate the clan and seize their powerful eyes for himself.

Hiruzen swallowed hard, watching the man he once considered a friend become a monster. Since becoming Hokage, Danzō's arrogance and ruthlessness had grown unchecked.

Was he not afraid that this plan could spiral out of control? That the angry Uchiha, cornered and desperate, might turn on the village in a way no one could stop?

"Danzo... you..." Hiruzen tried to warn him, but Danzō cut him off sharply.

"What 'Danzo'?" Danzō snapped. "When you speak to the Hokage, address me properly!"

Hiruzen blinked in disbelief. He barely recognized the man before him — the one who had once been his comrade.

Swallowing his pride, Hiruzen finally forced the words out: "Hokage... sir..."

"That's enough," Danzō interrupted, voice icy. "Don't waste your breath trying to persuade me. I am Hokage now, and I will do as I please."

Hiruzen's fists clenched at the insult.

Since Danzō's ascension, he had become unbearable — constantly reminding everyone who was in charge, as if that alone gave him absolute authority.

Hiruzen muttered under his breath, "What's there to pretend? I was Hokage for over thirty years..."

Danzō's eyes burned with fury. "Hiruzen, I am the Hokage now. Remember that."

He snapped his fingers sharply. "Someone, remove this former Hokage who was dismissed for corruption."

Two Root operatives stepped forward silently, seizing Hiruzen's arms. The old man struggled weakly, but their grip was unyielding.

"What are you doing?" Hiruzen demanded, voice strained.

"How dare you?" he shouted as they dragged him out.

"Let me go! I can walk on my own!"

"Hokage Danzō, you'll regret this!" Hiruzen's voice faded as they hauled him away, until it was no more than a whisper.

Danzō sneered after him. "Hiruzen, just watch me. I will personally destroy the Uchiha clan."

Land of the Uchiha Clan

In the Uchiha estate, clan leader Fugaku sat with a frown, the papers in his hand trembling slightly. He slammed his palm down on the heavy wooden table, eyes blazing with fury.

"That old dog Danzo has gone too far!" Fugaku growled, his voice echoing through the room. "Does he really think the Uchiha are easy to bully?"

He rose abruptly, his anger filling the room.

"Summon all the elite Jōnin of the clan. Tell them to meet at Nanga Shrine immediately," Fugaku ordered the guards stationed at the door.

The guards bowed and swiftly carried out the command.

Without another word, Fugaku strode out of the room.

As the heavy door swung closed, Uchiha Itachi entered, his calm eyes scanning the scattered papers left behind.

He picked up one and read silently:

"An Uchiha child snatched a skewer from a six-year-old and pushed him to the ground."

Flipping to the next:

"An elite Uchiha Jōnin was seen harassing an elderly woman."

Itachi's brow furrowed deeper.

He continued reading, each new "report" worse than the last.

"The son of the clan's second elder beat someone to death, claiming his father's status protects him."

And the final accusation made Itachi's blood run cold:

"Uchiha Sasuke, the second son of the clan leader, has been sexually harassing a medical ninja for months."

Itachi almost dropped the paper in disbelief.

Sasuke was only four years old — a playful child who followed him everywhere, calling him 'brother.'

How could anyone spread such vile lies about him?

"It's all rumors... absolute lies!" Itachi growled, his teeth clenched so hard they ached.

"I will find out who is behind this!" His voice was filled with cold determination.

The normally serene expression on Itachi's face twisted with rage.

In his fury, his Sharingan suddenly activated, the familiar red eyes flaring open.

But something was different.

The three magatama around his pupils, usually still, began to spin rapidly, as if propelled by a mysterious force.

The spinning intensified until the three marks merged into the shape of a shuriken—a spinning star of power.

For a brief moment, the shuriken glowed with ominous energy, then slowly dissolved back into the three separate magatama.

Itachi blinked, unsure what had just happened.

But one thing was clear:

"No matter who dares to slander Sasuke, I will never forgive them," he said coldly, voice like steel.

His calm shattered, replaced by a burning fury that promised swift vengeance.
