Chapter 91: Chapter 91: Future Scene
The elders sitting in the grand hall of the Nanhe Shrine shifted nervously as Uchiha Fugaku's teasing tone echoed through the room. Several of them broke out in a cold sweat.
"Haha, Chief Fugaku, surely you jest," one elder stammered, attempting to mask his anxiety with a forced smile. "We have always stood by your side to help solve the clan's problems."
Another elder nodded emphatically. "Indeed. The Patriarch's decision is the clan's decision. We support it wholeheartedly!"
A third added, "Now that we are advanced in years, the heavy burden of the clan's affairs must fall on you, our leader. We are grateful to follow your guidance."
"Yes, yes, Chief Fugaku, you must continue to bear the responsibility. We elders will gladly step back."
Uchiha Fugaku's lips curled into a faint smile, his eyes sharp beneath the shadow of his Mangekyō Sharingan. "Since you all say that, I have decided to relieve the first, third, and fourth elders of their duties. You may return home to enjoy your twilight years."
The smiles froze on the faces of those elders who had been subtly trying to ingratiate themselves with Fugaku. Their expressions twisted into disbelief and shock. They had never expected such a ruthless dismissal.
Fugaku's frown deepened as he fixed his gaze on them with the ominous glare of his Mangekyō. "What's wrong? Do you refuse to accept my decision?"
A sudden, oppressive murderous aura radiated from him. No one dared to challenge the clan's Patriarch—not with his eyes blazing with that dreadful power.
Forced to swallow their pride, the elders quickly bowed their heads and murmured in unison: "The Patriarch is right. It is time we retired and lived out our days peacefully."
"Yes... my legs and joints no longer serve me as they once did," one muttered with feigned cheerfulness. "It's better for me to rest at home."
From the side, the second elder sneered coldly. "Humph. Uchiha clan destroyed by you lot... What a joke."
His words silenced the room. The assembled elders dared not reply. Times had changed—none of them now held the influence to challenge even the contemptuous second elder.
"Now that you have officially resigned from your posts, you may leave," Fugaku said flatly.
Several elders were stunned, unable to hide their surprise at being dismissed so abruptly. This meeting was about the future of the Uchiha clan—and yet they had been excluded from such a pivotal gathering.
With bitter smiles, they slowly rose, their bodies shaking as they shuffled out of the shrine, some leaning heavily on their crutches.
Once the elders were gone, Fugaku turned to the guards stationed at the doors. "Keep a close watch on those men. If any of them act suspiciously or try to move against us in secret, kill them immediately."
The guards nodded and vanished without hesitation.
No one present doubted the Patriarch's orders. After all, this meeting concerned the survival and future of the Uchiha clan. They all understood the necessity of keeping these plans secret. A traitor could doom them all.
They were the clan's elite fighting force, loyal without question to the Uchiha name.
And yet, unbeknownst to them, a traitor lurked among the attendees—a silent witness to everything that transpired.
Fugaku's gaze swept across the room. "Everyone, I believe you have realized the truth. That old dog Danzo has left us no choice but to launch a coup!"
A murmur of agreement rippled through the crowd. Fugaku's voice grew louder, filled with iron resolve. "I have decided—we will strike in three nights. Will you stand with me or not?"
"All of us will follow the Patriarch!" came the thunderous reply.
Warriors and conservatives alike looked at Fugaku with admiration. They were convinced that under his command, the Uchiha would seize victory.
Strength was everything to the Uchiha clan. Show it, and their loyalty was absolute.
Satisfied, Fugaku nodded. "Then let us discuss the plan for three nights hence."
In a quiet corner, Uchiha Shisui's heart pounded anxiously as he watched the scene unfold. The family he loved, the village that had taught him the Will of Fire... both were on the brink of disaster.
No matter who won—whether his family or the village—he could not accept the inevitable bloodshed.
Lost in thought, Shisui was suddenly snapped back to reality when Fugaku's piercing gaze landed on him.
"Shisui," Fugaku said coldly, "in three days, you will lead a group of tribesmen to contain Danzo's Anbu, yes?"
Shisui blinked, startled. "Ah, yes... no problem, Master Patriarch."
Another Uchiha smiled proudly. "Don't worry, Master Patriarch. Although Shisui is young, his strength matches ours."
"Of course! Shisui's name is no empty boast."
"Just wait—the young Shisui will wipe them all out!"
The tribe's faith in Shisui was absolute. As a prodigy of the younger generation, leading the clan's elite against the Anbu was well within his abilities.
But Shisui's heart was heavy with conflict. The praise of his comrades could not soothe the turmoil inside him.
Once Fugaku had assigned every task, he addressed the gathered clan members with solemnity. "My eyes have seen the future. The fate of the Uchiha clan rests with you."
"Understood, Chief!" the clan members shouted together.
"Go now. Rest well and gather here three nights from now," Fugaku ordered.
"Shisui," he called, noticing the young man's distant expression, "stop daydreaming and move."
Shisui blinked, saw the room emptying, and nodded silently before leaving.
Far away, Fugaku watched Shisui's retreating figure, brows furrowed. "How could this be..."
Fugaku's words, "I have seen the future," were no empty boast.
Since awakening his Mangekyō Sharingan, he had gained a terrifying ability: Forward Glance—the power to intermittently glimpse into another person's future simply by staring at them.
When he had questioned Shisui, a sudden vision had invaded his mind.
In that future, Shisui activated his own Mangekyō Sharingan, revealing the eye's secrets to Shimura Danzo, only to be ambushed by the treacherous man. Danzo took one of Shisui's eyes and left him grievously wounded.
Shisui eventually entrusted his remaining eye to Uchiha Itachi, then, in a final act of sacrifice, leapt from a cliff, ending his own life.
Though Fugaku saw this vision, he could not be certain of its truth.
The picture showed a time when Sarutobi Hiruzen was no longer Hokage—Danzo had not yet claimed that title. Itachi appeared older than he was now. The future seemed uncertain.
"Could the future be altered?" Fugaku muttered to himself, shaking his head. "I'm launching the coup in three days. What else can change?"
Confidence surged through him. "With the absolute strength I wield, no conspiracy will succeed. Old dog Danzo, you'll soon be cleaned off the board."

Meanwhile, in the Hokage's office.
Shimura Danzo rose abruptly, his voice sharp. "What did you say? The Uchiha plan a coup in three days?!"
Uchiha Shisui, half-kneeling before him, looked up steadily. "Yes, Hokage-sama."
