"I've started studying at the Academy," Itachi replied, his eyes gleaming with earnestness. "How has Brother Gen been? I haven't seen you around the compound lately."
"I was away handling external matters for the clan," Gen said with a chuckle. "But things have quieted down now."
As the two walked side-by-side through the Uchiha district, Gen asked, "I heard Shisui has entered the ANBU?"
"Yes," Itachi nodded. "Brother Shisui is acting as a liaison between the Uchiha and the Third Hokage. He's busy, but he's doing something important."
"Indeed," Gen said thoughtfully. "Shisui's role is crucial in bridging the distrust that's long existed between the Uchiha and the village leadership. A necessary sacrifice for peace."
Itachi's eyes grew firm. "If it can make the Uchiha great again, it's worth it."
Gen grinned. "You're as sharp as ever."
As they walked, several villagers greeted them, many of whom recognized Gen due to his involvement in stabilizing internal Uchiha politics after the Nine-Tails incident.
They eventually arrived at a house on the eastern edge of the Uchiha sector. It had been freshly renovated—walls repainted, the traditional clan fan crest restored above the entrance.
"Gen's here!" called Uchiha Mikoto, standing at the entrance in a light blue maternity yukata. Her long hair was neatly brushed, and her gentle expression was unmistakably motherly.
"You shouldn't overexert yourself in this condition, Sister Mikoto."
"It's fine," she said, smiling. "Moderate activity is good for both the mother and the baby."
Inside the house, Gen and Itachi were led to the sitting room, where they were greeted by an elder in formal clan dress—a black kimono adorned with the Uchiha crest. His hair was half-white, and his stern face spoke of years on the battlefield.
"Elder Setsuna," Gen said respectfully, giving a proper bow.
"Father," Mikoto said, standing between them with a warm smile. "This is Gen, one of the Uchiha twins. He's contributed a great deal to our clan's recent stability."
"Your humility is commendable," the old man said. "But we are well aware of your efforts. A true Uchiha knows when to hide his fangs."
Gen gave a slight smile. "I only did what was necessary. The credit belongs to the clan."
Setsuna patted Gen's shoulder approvingly. "You have the tact of a diplomat and the eyes of a warrior. Sit with me. Let's share a pot of tea."
"Mikoto, bring out the food soon."
"Yes, Father. It's already prepared."
While Mikoto moved to the kitchen, Gen and Setsuna drank high-grade green tea from Nara fields, known for its chakra-calming properties. They chatted casually—no politics, no conspiracies. Just war stories and clan anecdotes.
At noon, a modest feast was laid out—roasted eel, lotus root, sweet miso soup. The Uchiha household followed old traditions: no idle talk during meals, respect for elders, and no consumption of alcohol without cause.
After eating, they had one more round of tea. Then Gen, after a courteous farewell, took his leave.
With the Uchiha clan currently in a rare period of peace—thanks in part to Fugaku's restraint and Shisui's secret diplomacy—there was little else requiring discussion.

He quickly arrived at the secret base, hidden beyond the outer forest perimeter, and repeated his prior tactic: stunning the two young Uchiha guards, Yuichi and Mori, using a suppressed Genjutsu amplified by his Sharingan. Then he began reshaping the cave.
Gen had increased his research into Earth Release recently, borrowing from Doton jutsu recorded in the Third Tsuchikage's battle records. Combined with his Soul Fruit technique—imbuing earth with rudimentary sentience—he was able to reconfigure the cavern's architecture in half a day.

A shinobi's soul, if consumed entirely, erases them from the cycle of reincarnation. Gen still honored the Pure Land. His intent was control, not cruelty.
This repeated across the west, north, and south quadrants of the town. Gen now had four physical vessels—cloaked, marked, and moving in synchrony.
Later that evening, on the northern edge of Baishi Town, four cloaked figures gathered and began their trek toward the outer lands of Hi no Kuni.
Gen, meanwhile, had already returned to his body in Konoha.
There was no rush. The experiment couldn't begin until the twin Uchiha subjects were properly deprived—fatigue and hunger were essential for lowering resistance to soul transference.
But now, the final preparations were in place.
The cave was ready.
The vessels were ready.
The targets were helpless.
