Chapter 54: Kai isn't a Bird, He's a Bull
AN: apparently, some people in China called Kai a Bird, and so he had to make sure that nobody calls him that.
A storm was brewing in China.
Kai, the Jade Slayer, the Spirit Walker, had swept through cities, villages, and temples, leaving nothing but chaos in his wake. His jade blades had cut down warriors, his chained weapons had shattered guardians, and his undead legion had grown with every battle.
He was unstoppable.
And yet…
There was no sign of the so-called Dragon Emperor.
No Po.
The name alone burned Kai's soul with frustration. Everywhere he went, the people spoke his name in reverence.
Po, the Unifier of China.
Po, the God of Kung Fu.
Po, the Immortal Dragon Emperor.
But where was he?
Hiding?
Cowardly panda.
"Fine," Kai growled as he stood atop a destroyed temple. His jade chains rattled as he looked over the flames of a once-proud sanctuary. His latest victims lay scattered across the courtyard, their Chi drained, their spirits trapped in jade prisons.
If Po refused to face him, then Kai would force him out.
He turned toward a trembling monk who had been spared—left alive only to deliver a message.
"Tell your Emperor… I'm coming."
The monk scrambled away as Kai summoned a green rift, stepping through the swirling vortex of energy. His next destination was set.
The Valley of Peace.
Word of Kai's destruction reached the Jade Palace within days.
Po was nowhere near—he had left for Panda Village with his father, Li-Shan, to finally take some time to relax.
But now, there was no time for rest.
Kai was wreaking havoc, and someone needed to investigate.
That responsibility fell to the Furious Six.
Tigress, Tai Lung, Monkey, Mantis, Crane, and Viper moved out at dawn, following the trail of destruction, hoping to understand who or what was responsible.
They didn't have to search for long.
A ruined village. A broken shrine. A town full of warriors—now turned into jade zombies.
And at the center of it all—
A towering figure in green and gold.
Kai.
He stood in the middle of the desolated battlefield, arms crossed, his chains rattling as the Furious Six arrived.
His glowing jade eyes locked onto them.
And he laughed.
"So… the Emperor's little pets have come to play."
Tigress stepped forward, her stance unshaken. "You must be Kai."
Kai grinned. "Oh? You know my name?"
Tai Lung rolled his shoulders, smirking. "You don't exactly make a subtle entrance, do you?"
Kai's grin widened.
"And you are…?"
Tai Lung raised a brow. "Tai Lung."
Kai's expression didn't change.
Silence.
Then—
"…Who?"
Tai Lung blinked. "…Seriously?"
Kai chuckled. "Should I know you?"
Tai Lung scowled. "The strongest warrior in all of China? The one who nearly conquered the Jade Palace?"
Kai snorted. "Ohhh, that guy. Right. The one the panda beat."
Tai Lung twitched.
Monkey leaned over. "Oof, you walked right into that one, buddy."
Tai Lung growled. "I was having a moment of arrogance. Happens to the best of us."
Kai smirked. "And now, you play bodyguard for a fat panda. How inspiring."
Tai Lung crossed his arms. "At least I'm not some wannabe warlord throwing a tantrum because no one remembers his name."
Kai's smirk vanished.
A long pause.
Then—
"I don't like you."
Tai Lung grinned. "Good. Let's fight."
Battle of the Furious Six vs. Kai
Tigress launched first, striking like a meteor.
Her claws ripped through the air, aiming for Kai's neck.
Kai caught her fist with one hand.
He barely even flinched.
Tigress' eyes widened.
BOOM!
Kai slammed her into the ground, cracking the earth beneath them.
Monkey sprang forward, his staff whirling at blinding speeds.
Kai blocked it with his forearm, then grabbed Monkey by the leg and hurled him into a wall.
Viper coiled around his arm, attempting to lock him down, but he simply flexed, snapping her grip and sending her flying.
Crane swooped in from above, aiming a precision strike at Kai's pressure points—only for Kai to grab his ankle mid-air and smash him into the dirt.
Mantis landed on his shoulder, attempting a nerve strike.
Kai barely felt it.
He flicked Mantis away like a pebble.
Only Tai Lung still stood.
Kai cracked his neck. "You lasted longer than most. But this… is boring."
Tai Lung snarled. "Boring? You're not even trying!"
Kai grinned. "Exactly."
Tai Lung rushed forward, his strikes faster than lightning. His fists burned with Chi-infused power, his movements precise, deadly.
But Kai was faster.
Stronger.
More experienced.
He parried, dodged, countered, each of Tai Lung's attacks dismissed like they were nothing.
Then, in a blur, Kai's jade-infused fist collided with Tai Lung's chest—
Sending him soaring across the battlefield.
Tai Lung crashed into the earth, coughing, gasping for breath.
Kai loomed over him.
He was done playing.
His jade weapons glowed as he lifted them—ready to finish this.
Then he stopped.
His eyes flicked to Tigress, who was still conscious, dragging herself up despite her injuries.
Kai's grin returned.
"Tell your Emperor," he said, his voice dripping with amusement, "I am coming."
Tigress growled, stepping forward, but Kai simply laughed.
"And tell him this—"
His jade aura flared, sending a final shockwave through the area, knocking all of them down.
Then, as the dust settled, his last words echoed through the battlefield:
"Kai isn't a bird… he's a bull."
With that, he turned, vanishing in a green flash.
Tigress and Tai Lung stared after him, their bodies aching, their pride wounded.
Kai had defeated them all.
And now, he was heading straight for Po.
