Legendary Shelter Survival Guide

Chapter 265: A cry from heart

"UGHHH…" Soon, Zen started to wake up after feeling some jerks here and there.

"Hm?" His eyes opened and he saw a moving scenario, he looked to the right only to see Lucas traveling straight while carrying him through the town.

"Brat…"

"Yes?"

"... You know what you did there, right?"

"What? Oh, the class. Yeah, I got the beginner crafter, Uncle Zen."

Zen only nodded and stopped. Lucas looked back at him in confusion only to see a hand coming straight toward the back of his head.

Lucas didn't want to yet just by moving a little, he dodged it making Zen even more infuriated.

"BRAT!!"

For the next few minutes, the townspeople saw a middle-aged big-belly man running after a kid who couldn't stop laughing.

It was a sight that made many laugh and shout, making bets if Zen could catch Lucas or not.

But when Lucas saw the man getting tired, he stopped and without any problem, got beat up as much as possible.

With every move made by Zen, Lucas could come up with 10 moves to retaliate without a weapon.

After a few more hits, Zen stopped from getting exhausted.

"You could have died there, brat." Zen said and Lucas was ready for another hit on the cheek but, "Don't you do that again, you hear me?"

Zen said and gave a hug to Lucas who was surprised by the emotions behind this hug.

He could feel thick feelings of worry and scare coming from Zen toward him making Lucas reciprocate the hug.

'NO matter how many times I try thinking of these people as strangers, they just become more and more familiar…'

"Brat, tell me everything that happened there, how did you actually survive?"

Lucas told Zen everything related to his interaction with the High Priest.

With each topic Lucas covered, Zen's face grew more and more pale.

"You said he smiled? And more than one time??"

"Yeah, I didn't count but what's the big deal about smiling?"

"… No one has seen the High Priest smile even once. I have lived for 42 years and not once have I seen the High Priest smile… or someone talk to him just like you did." Zen massaged his forehead to get some relief from all the tensions he had gained just now.

They both traveled back to Lucas's home where he sat jumped on the bed and rubbed his face on the soft pillow for minutes.

"Well… this is it… You have to pack your stuff quickly and leave before the night, Brat."

Lucas frowned in confusion at that remark. But soon, another headache came knocking at his brain.

He controlled the urge to grunt and just closed his eyes this time so that Zen would not see him in pain while holding his head.

Lucas persisted for what seemed like ages but he soon had relief in his mind again.

'I have to leave the orphanage now that I got my class. The previous Lucas even used his savings to rent a place in the town. Ugh… but why did he do it so far from the orphanage??'

Lucas could not understand why the previous Lucas was trying to get away from the orphanage even when he had people like Uncle Zen to help him out.

"Alright, Uncle Zen. I will come to meet you when I get the time. Take care." Lucas offered a handshake after getting up.

Zen looked at that handshake for a while before coming in for a hug.

Finally, he left and Lucas went to pack his stuff. He only had 5 shirts which for Lucas was more than what he had in his territory.

In total, there were two pairs of shoes and three shirts with him that were easily packed.

At the end of the cupboard, there was a ring that had a thread around it.

Lucas picked it up and saw the engravings on it.

"Lyla Garde."

At the same time, he said that name aloud, the pain returned yet this time, he didn't feel anything. Before he knew it, Lucas had fallen on the ground with a big thud sound.

His eyes were fully black with no pupils. Veins had started moving like worms around his forehead and skull.

While on the outside, Lucas looked like he was going to die anytime, yet on the inside, a memory was playing out.

"Here, take this, Lucy. It will protect you till I return."

Lucas heard this voice ringing in his head, his eyes were opened but the visibility was very bad.

There was a red-haired woman in front of him making him wear something around his neck.

When she was done, she came close to Lucas's face and gave a kiss to his forehead.

Lucas felt water on his cheek, they were tears uncontrollably coming out of the woman's eyes.

The woman was pulled by another person in the room, Lucas couldn't see him at all yet he could feel the emotions. The man was very reluctant to leave Lucas's side but more than that, he was crying from inside because of something Lucas did not know.

Before he knew it, Lucas moved his hands forward and tried to grab the woman, to make her stay. In his heart, he knew that if they left, they were not going to come back again.

'N-NO, Don't go... stay with me...' He shouted yet nothing came out other than cries.

As he saw them both leave from the gate, Lucas cried out for them yet no words came out other than his crying. He brawled and brawled yet they didn't come out.

Lucas opened his eyes again and looked at the ceiling. Tears were falling from the side of his eyes.

"Mother… Father… They... No... they are not my parents." Lucas whispered and wiped the tears from his eyes.

For the first time, he had no control over them. They just came out without any stop and Lucas could only wide them every time.

Lucas knew they were not his real mother and father, his father was very strong and protecting his mother back in the Plains of Amaeron.

Yet the pain in his heart was real for these parents too. They felt too close to him, his heart was trying to want to have them back.

Lucas sat there while trying to control his emotions. It was one painful ride, this memory…
