Chapter 266: Landlord's Daughter
Lucas was standing in front of the orphanage and after taking a small glance at it, he started moving toward his new room.
The town was bustling with people that were doing different stuff. It was like a big economy. Lucas looked and noted things that he would also want to implement in his territory.
Finally, he reached the building where he had rented the room. In front of the building, a man was sitting on a chair looking at women moving throughout the market.
With a little stress to the brain, Lucas remembered the person's name.
"Hello, is everything ready?" Lucas said after coming in front of the man's eyesight.
The man just clicked his tongue in frustration but still nodded and waved for him to go inside.
'Wow, such a great welcome.'
Lucas went above the stairs and when the stairs got a little dark, the stairs illuminated a little so that he would not fall from blindness.
'This is a world where development is going on and magic is also present, totally a match for me.'
Lucas finally reached his room and opened it directly.
It was a small cubicle with just a single table to keep stuff, a small bed, and a cupboard.
It was not even the size of the shelter's living room.
Lucas unpacked his belongings and arranged them neatly in the cupboard.
There was a key at the table which was for the main door.
Lucas had some Local currency notes too, around 1000 which would enable him to get food for around a month.
Yet they were not enough for his expenses, Lucas had seen many kinds of food items and actual spices with which the food was getting made, the aroma had made him drool hard in the market.
And he planned to eat as much as he'd like to without any limiters such as the availability of money.
He looked around the room and sighed. It was not much, but it was better than nothing.
He had heard in the memories of the previous Lucas that out of all the towns in this empire he lived in, the town Lilypud was the best because of its various trades and skills it specialized in, as well as the secret magic skills the church had.
He was eager to explore and discover new things, but he also knew that he had to be careful. He wanted to attract only a little attention or trouble that he was already in.
The High Priest was in no way done with him, he knew that for sure.
He decided to take a nap before heading out. Lucas lay down on the bed and closed his eyes.
Lucas wondered what his friends and family were doing in his own world.
He may have only been here for just half a day but the habit of seeing them around had deepened in his day-to-day activities, he slightly missed them.
But he also felt excited about his adventure. Whatever Lucas had felt excited about when it came to crafting and manufacturing, all his dreams could be fulfilled in this place.
The hope was to return to his territory in the Plains of Amaeron with all the knowledge he could gain here to make his territory, Survivor's Haven, as better as this town.
He drifted off to sleep, clearly feeling too satisfied with the squishy bed. Before he knew it, Lucas had fallen asleep on it.
He hadn't eaten anything till now and when he woke up, it was the next day.
Knock Knock Knock
Lucas got up straight on the bed and made a big yawn, he looked toward the gate and then the window.
'I slept through the night… Its been so long…'
It had been a while since Lucas had slept so comfy, he preferred not sleeping rather than sleeping so uncomfortably on some rags.
Lucas got out of the bed and opened the door. He saw a young girl standing outside, holding a tray of food. She had brown hair and green eyes and wore a simple brown dress.
"Good morning. I'm Lila, the landlord's daughter. I brought you some breakfast. It's part of what you paid for." She said with a smile.
Lucas blinked in surprise. He didn't expect such a service. He took the tray from her hands and looked at her again.
There was a significant height difference and looking at her frail arms, Lucas was surprised, if it had been any girl or lady from his territory, he would have seen some curves of muscles around the body yet the girl in front of him was as if had never trained her whole life.
'Such a peaceful world…'
"Wow, this looks delicious. What is it?" He asked after looking at the food.
"It's bread, cheese, ham, eggs, and some fruit. And this is tea. The usuals." Lila said, pointing at the items while strangely looking at Lucas.
"What is it?"
"Uh… Are you from outside the town?" Lilia asked with embarrassment yet the curiosity was still present in her eyes.
"No, born and brought up in the orphanage just around there."
"Oh… You are from the orphanage… sorry about that, no, I mean I am sorry you were there, no no no, Sorry, I didn't mean that. Gosh-" Lilia started blurting out random stuff from not knowing how to react to this conversation.
Lucas looked at her for a few yet even he could not stop the laughter from coming out. Read new chapters at My Virtual Library Empire
"Hahaha… You, you don't have to react like that. The orphanage is my home and family from the start so it's all good. Please don't be so formal."
"I see… Sorry about that, I have not had a conversation with anyone from the orphanage till now, it's my first time."
"Oh? Really?" Lucas asked with skepticism.
"Yeah, I have heard they get a lot of money which they use to live in mansions." She said with embarrassment.
"Well, you have heard right. We do get some money to start our lives but it's not a LOT. With how they are spending, I reckon they will be out of money in just a few days at best."
"That sounds bad, maybe you should give them some sense too."
"Eh, I don't really care." He said and looked at the tray and the food in it with a big gulp.
Lilia looking at him giggled in response.
"I should leave you alone now."
"Would you like to join me? I won't share the food but we can talk?".
