The moment the growls turned into roars, the entire corridor trembled.

Dozens of mutated monsters burst through the tunnel—twisted Ogres with horns like blades, Ligerfangs with armored hides, and aberrant Skull Sheep whose cries sent chills up their spines.

They were far stronger than what the 22nd floor should've spawned.

Finn shouted, "Formation! Frontline hold! Casters to the rear!"

Weapons clashed. Magic erupted.

But in the middle of the chaos—Ethan moved.

Like a ghost through the storm.

He dashed ahead, twin blades dancing. One clean cut through a Skull Sheep's throat. A spin, then a slash across an Ogre's side. His blades gleamed—precise, unrelenting.

"Ethan, fall back—!" Riveria called.

He didn't listen.

He was faster than before. Stronger. His footing perfect, his reactions sharp as a razor.

"GRAAAHHHH!"

A mutated Ligerfang pounced at him—claws like steel. Ethan stepped to the side, ducked low, and with a roar, drove both blades into its underbelly, tearing through the dense hide.

It hit the ground in a dying howl.

Finn's eyes widened. "That monster had strength comparable to a Level 4…"

Riveria said nothing—but her expression was unreadable, gaze following Ethan's every move.

Watching in Awe

From the backlines, two Amazon sisters from Loki Familia watched in stunned silence.

Tione blinked. "That kid… he's not supposed to be that strong, right?"

Tiona grinned, clearly impressed. "Nope. But damn, he's got moves. I wonder if he has a girlfriend already."

"Hmph. You're already thinking that?" Tione said, elbowing her. "Ais might stab you."

"Oh come on, she hasn't claimed him yet."

Bete's Jealousy

A snarling growl came from their side. Bete, arms crossed, scoffed as he watched Ethan slice through another monster's throat.

"Tch. What's so impressive? I can do that too."

"But you're not doing it," Tiona replied with a smirk.

Bete glared. "Shut it."

The Push

Another mutated Ogre slammed its fists into the ground and charged—aiming for Lili.

"Lili!" Ethan shouted.

She raised her crossbow and fired—bolt striking the Ogre's eye. It didn't stop.

Without a second thought, Ethan threw himself between them, catching the full brunt of the Ogre's swing with his blade crossed in an "X".

"NGH—!"

The impact threw him back—but he landed on his feet, sliding across the stone.

Blood dripped from his lip. His arms ached. But he didn't stop.

"Come on," he whispered, eyes blazing.

He dashed forward, aura flaring. The Ogre roared—and Ethan's blade cut through its neck like butter.

The beast collapsed, its blood splashing across the floor.

Realization

Riveria stepped forward slowly, watching Ethan catch his breath.

"He's not normal," she said.

Finn nodded. "Now I understand why Ais was so insistent on challenging him. His skill is refined… but it's his instincts. They're monstrous."

Aisha whistled. "I think I just fell a little."

Lili rushed to Ethan, worried. "You okay?!"

He smiled, breathing hard. "Nothing broken. That was fun."

"Fun?" she exclaimed.

He laughed. "A little."

Calm After the Storm

After the last monster fell, the Dungeon grew quiet again. The expedition party regrouped—bloody, bruised, but victorious.

They had suffered no casualties.

Mostly thanks to him.

Ethan wiped his blades clean and sheathed them. A few adventurers glanced his way with awe—others with suspicion. But no one questioned his strength now.

Not anymore.

Finn approached him. "You kept up with monsters that normally require Level 4s to handle. That's not something you see from a fresh Level 2."

Ethan shrugged. "Guess I don't know my limits yet."

"…I think you broke them."

As they began to move toward the deeper floors, Riveria glanced at Ethan one more time.

"You… You're not like the others."

Ethan raised an eyebrow. "You saying I'm a monster?"

Riveria smiled faintly. "No. But you're about to attract monsters of your own."

Lili tilted her head. "What does that mean?"

Before Riveria could answer, a low, echoing roar came from far below.

It was not a mutated beast.

It was deeper. Older.

Something ancient had awakened.

The Dungeon trembled again.
