The deeper they ventured, the darker the air became.

Ethan could feel it — like static crawling across his skin. Something in the Dungeon had changed. Not just the monsters. Not just the environment. It felt like the laws of reality were bending.

And yet, the expedition pressed on.

They had no choice.

The walls of the Dungeon trembled as mutated creatures lunged out from hidden passages. Ethan, flanked by Lili and a few members of Loki Familia, carved through them with sharp, efficient strikes. Blood, both red and black, splattered across the floor as steel clashed with bone and flesh.

Lili ducked behind a stalagmite and fired bolt after bolt, her crossbow humming with tension. "Ethan-sama! On your left!"

He spun, slicing a six-eyed serpent in half. "Thanks!"

They kept pushing. Floor after floor.

Until they reached it.

A wide chamber. No monsters. No wind. Just silence.

Too much silence.

"…This doesn't feel right," Riveria muttered.

And then it happened.

A loud snap, followed by an eerie hum.

Magic circles flared beneath their feet, glowing red and violet. Ancient runes pulsed with energy. Ethan's eyes widened.

"—It's a trap!"

Before anyone could react, the magic circles activated. Energy surged up like pillars of flame, surrounding each adventurer in blinding light.

Then—

Boom.

Everything exploded in a flash.

Scattered

Ethan gasped and opened his eyes.

He was alone.

The Dungeon around him looked twisted — walls shifting, floors uneven, and the very air shimmered unnaturally.

"Lili!" he shouted. "Riveria? Finn?!"

No answer.

He cursed and drew his weapon. His instincts screamed that something was wrong. More than the trap. More than being separated.

And then the monsters came.

A wave of Level 3s poured from a cracked tunnel — reptilian beasts with crystalized armor and feral eyes.

Ethan didn't hesitate.

He dashed forward, his blade slashing through the first, then spinning to pierce the second. Blood sprayed, but he took a claw across the chest. He gritted his teeth and pushed harder.

One. Two. Five. Nine.

He was breathing hard by the end, surrounded by corpses.

And yet… the air didn't feel lighter.

It felt heavier.

The Being Beyond

A slow rumble echoed from the dark.

Then a voice.

A calm, deep tone that carried across the chamber like wind.

"You… are not of this world."

Ethan turned.

From the shadows emerged a being unlike anything he had fought. Humanoid in shape, but its body was cloaked in writhing shadows and gleaming crimson lines. Horns curved back from its head. Eyes like twin galaxies stared down at him.

Its aura was overwhelming — far beyond anything a monster should have.

"…What are you?" Ethan asked, backing up slowly.

The creature didn't answer right away. It studied him, almost curiously. Then, it raised one hand.

"You do not belong here. You are the disturbance."

Ethan braced himself. "If you think I'll let you hurt anyone—!"

He lunged.

And his blade shattered on impact with the creature's aura.

"Wha—?!"

The creature didn't move. It simply raised its other hand, conjuring a black and violet portal. The Dungeon around them trembled.

"Return to the Void Between Worlds."

Ethan's eyes widened. "What are you—?!"

Suddenly, the system blared in his mind.[SYSTEM ERROR. UNAUTHORIZED INTERFERENCE DETECTED.]

[WARNING. HOST IS BEING FORCEFULLY TRANSFERRED.]

[ERROR. ERROR. DIMENSIONAL STABILITY: COMPROMISED.]Ethan's body locked up, dragged by an invisible force.

"No—NO!!"

He struggled, digging his heels into the stone, but the pull was immense. The portal sucked him in as the creature's eyes gleamed.

"We will meet again, Wanderer."

The last thing Ethan saw was the Dungeon collapsing behind him, and a flash of Lili's worried face flashing through his memory—

And then,

Darkness.
