The streets of Arendelle buzzed with a gentle energy. Banners fluttered from rooftops, and carriages rolled past filled with noblemen and travelers. Preparations were clearly underway — townsfolk hurried along the cobblestone streets, excited voices blending with the sharp winter air.
Ethan walked with practiced calm. His senses stayed alert, eyes drifting across the roads and alleys. Though he moved like a traveler, his posture betrayed his adventurer's instincts.
That was when he felt a sudden bump against his chest.
"Oof!" a voice cried out.
A girl had collided into him and fallen onto the snow-dusted stone path.
"Ouch! What was that?" she muttered, rubbing her head.
Ethan blinked and stepped forward, offering a hand. "Hey, are you alright?"
The girl looked up—and he froze.
She had bright, vibrant blue-green eyes, wide with surprise. Her face was heart-shaped and warm, with a dusting of freckles over her nose. Her lips parted slightly, and soft chestnut-red hair spilled from beneath a traveling cloak, braided to one side. Beneath her winter attire, she wore a dark green dress with gold accents and a deep royal blue cape trimmed with black.
'the girl felt familiar ' Ethan Thought, then it him instantly.
Princess Anna.
From Frozen.
The girl blinked, dazed, then flushed red. "I-I'm fine! Totally fine!"
Her eyes flicked up again to meet his, and she paused. Her cheeks colored even deeper.
"Whoa…" she whispered.
"You're… really handsome."
Ethan raised a brow, surprised at her forwardness. "Thanks," he said with a half-smile.
Anna's eyes widened again, realizing she'd said that out loud. "I-I mean! Not that I just— I just blurted that out, didn't I?"
Ethan chuckled lightly. "You did."
She buried her face in her scarf, mumbling, "Great start, Anna. Amazing."
He helped her to her feet.
Once upright, she glanced at him more carefully—eyes searching, almost instinctively. Then, narrowing slightly, she tilted her head.
"You're not from around here, are you?"
Ethan met her gaze. "What gave it away?"
Anna crossed her arms, puffing her cheeks a bit. "You don't look like a merchant, or a noble. And you don't walk like someone from the castle guard either."
He paused, then nodded. "You're right. I'm from… far away."
Anna tilted her head curiously, clearly intrigued. "So what brings someone like you to Arendelle?"
He glanced at the banners strung across the buildings, the townsfolk preparing with excited chatter.
"I heard there was going to be a coronation."
Anna beamed. "Yep! That would be my—uh…" She hesitated, catching herself. "The queen's coronation, yes. Big deal. Whole kingdom's buzzing."
Ethan smirked. "You seem… quite excited."
"I've been waiting for this day for a long time," she said softly, with a strange smile. "You don't see the castle open like this often."
He nodded slowly, already piecing the timeline together in his mind. So this was the start. Elsa's coronation. The beginning of everything.
Before Anna could ask more questions, she looked up and straightened.
"Oh! I didn't catch your name," she said, brushing snow from her skirt. "You did save me from an embarrassing moment."
Ethan gave her a calm smile. "Ethan Valen."
Anna's brows lifted. "Valen? That's… nice. Sounds noble. Are you?"
He gave a half-shrug. "Not exactly. Just a traveler."
Anna grinned. "Mysterious. I like it."
He raised an eyebrow, amused by her energy.
"And what's your name?" he asked.
The girl blinked, then smiled sheepishly. "Oh! Duh. Right. I'm Anna—Princess Anna of Arendelle."
She did a little curtsy, the gesture playful rather than formal.
Ethan nodded with polite respect. "A pleasure to meet you, Princess."
"Just Anna is fine," she said quickly. "Princess sounds too stuffy. Especially after falling on my face."
Ethan chuckled again. "If you say so."
There was a pause between them, the moment soft. Anna looked up again, her cheeks slightly pink — not just from the cold this time.
"Well," she said finally, trying not to fidget, "if you're here for the coronation, you should come by the castle later. It's going to be huge. Food, dancing, a bunch of fancy people acting awkward — the usual."
Ethan tilted his head. "I might."
Anna gave him a wide smile. "I'll be there."
And then, realizing she was lingering too long, she waved quickly and turned.
"I should go before my sister panics and freezes the curtains again— I mean—uh—bye!"
She ran off.
Ethan stood there for a moment, processing everything.
A strange world. A different timeline. And already, fate was pulling him into the center of it.
He glanced at the snowy path Anna had taken, then back toward the castle in the distance.
"Princess Anna, huh?"
"This world… is about to change."
