They had barely caught their breath when it happened.
Anna swayed.
At first, Ethan thought it was just the exhaustion—days of travel, cold, fear, adrenaline. But then she let out a soft gasp and collapsed into his arms.
"Anna!" he shouted, catching her before she hit the icy floor.
Kristoff rushed forward. "What happened?!"
Her body felt cold. Too cold. And when Ethan brushed her hair back, his stomach dropped.
A streak of white—thin, but unmistakable—ran through her auburn strands.
His heart clenched.
He knew what this was.
"It's her heart," he muttered, teeth clenched. "She's been struck—by Elsa's magic. Accidental. But it's freezing her from the inside."
Elsa stepped forward in horror, her voice trembling. "I didn't mean to—"
"We know," Ethan said gently, laying Anna down. "But we need to help her. Now."
"W-what do we do?" Kristoff asked, panic rising in his voice.
Ethan glanced at him, then at Anna's pale face, then said, "The trolls. We need to go to the trolls."
Kristoff blinked. "How do you—wait, how do you know about the trolls?"
Ethan ignored the question. "Take us. Now."
Elsa looked torn. "But I—my magic—what if I make it worse?"
Ethan turned to her, eyes serious. "She's your sister. She needs you now more than ever. Don't run from her. Come with us."
Elsa swallowed hard. She looked at Anna, pale and trembling, and nodded slowly.
"I'll come."
Kristoff quickly whistled for Sven, who had stayed just outside the shattered palace. Within minutes, they had Anna bundled up in spare cloaks, lying gently in the sleigh. Ethan climbed in next to her, holding her hand, while Kristoff took the reins. Elsa sat behind them, silent and shaken.
The sleigh sped down the mountain.
Ethan kept checking on Anna. Her breathing was shallow. The white in her hair was spreading, faint veins of frost appearing around her neck.
"Hang in there, Princess," he whispered. "Don't you dare give up on me now."
And then—[System Alert]

System offline.Ethan stared blankly at the air in front of him.
The system—his one anchor, his guide through these unfamiliar worlds—had just shut down.
"No," he muttered. "Not now. Not when I need you most."
Kristoff glanced back. "Everything okay?"
Ethan looked down at Anna's pale hand in his, the streak of white now spider-webbing across her shoulder. "No. Nothing is okay."
But there was no time to panic. He had to focus. The trolls were their only hope now.
Hours passed.
They raced down through the mountain paths, the snowstorm easing as they neared the forested valley where Kristoff's adoptive family lived. The trees grew thicker, familiar to Kristoff but foreign to the rest of them.
Then, finally—
"There!" Kristoff pointed. "That clearing."
They slid into a meadow, surrounded by a ring of strange, round stones. The sleigh stopped, and Kristoff jumped off, running forward.
"Grand Pabbie!" he called out. "It's me, Kristoff! I need your help!"
The rocks around them began to shimmer. Then, slowly, the stones transformed—into living, breathing creatures. Small, mossy trolls with eyes of ancient wisdom and bodies shaped like boulders.
One of the elder trolls stepped forward. "Kristoff, my boy."
"Grand Pabbie, she needs help," Kristoff said, motioning to Anna.
Ethan lifted her gently from the sleigh and brought her forward. The trolls gasped at the sight of her frost-covered body.
"She was struck by ice magic," Ethan explained. "Accidentally. It's her heart."
Grand Pabbie frowned deeply. "A frozen heart… if not dealt with soon, it will take her life."
Elsa stepped forward, guilt radiating off her. "Can you help her?"
Pabbie looked at her. "Only an act of true love can thaw a frozen heart."
Kristoff stiffened. Ethan's expression darkened. He already knew that.
"But what kind of act?" Kristoff asked.
Pabbie's eyes twinkled. "That… is something the heart must decide."
Anna stirred weakly in Ethan's arms.
He needs to save Anna.
Ethan's eyes narrowed.
Still…
He looked at Elsa, who stood frozen in place, tears brimming in her eyes.
"I'm sorry," she whispered.
Ethan shook his head. "Don't apologize. Just help me save her."
As the group turned back to Arendelle, racing against time to bring Anna to Hans, Ethan sat silently in the sleigh. The cold wind whipped at his face, but he barely noticed.
His mind was spinning.
The system was offline.
Anna was dying.
And now, the path ahead led back to a city on the edge of collapse.
Everything was changing.
And someone — or something — had brought that intelligent monster into Elsa's palace. Someone was watching.
Waiting.
This wasn't just about frozen hearts anymore.
It was the beginning of something far bigger.
