The sleigh barreled through the city gates of Arendelle as the wind howled behind them. Guards opened the path when they saw Princess Anna, pale and unconscious, cradled in Ethan's arms. Kristoff led the way, breath ragged, while Elsa ran closely behind, her hands clenched in fear.
"Bring her to the castle!" someone shouted.
A group of royal staff guided them up the stairs. The grand doors to the castle burst open, revealing Hans standing at the top, flanked by attendants. His eyes widened when he saw the pale form of Anna being carried in.
"Princess Anna!" he exclaimed, stepping forward. "What happened?"
Ethan barely acknowledged him. He rushed up the marble steps and headed straight for Anna's chambers. The servants flung the door open, and he gently laid her on the bed.
"She's freezing," Ethan said, brushing her hair back. "Where's the royal healer?"
"We've summoned them!" someone answered from the hallway.
Hans stepped inside, watching Ethan with narrowed eyes. "Who is he?" he muttered under his breath.
Anna stirred.
Her eyelids fluttered.
"Anna," Ethan whispered. "It's me. You're safe."
She blinked. "E-Ethan…?"
He smiled softly. "Yeah. I'm right here."
Then Hans stepped forward, his voice softening. "Princess Anna, I'm here too. I was so worried—"
Anna turned her head slightly, confused.
"…Who are you again?"
Hans blinked. "It's me. Hans. From the Southern Isles. We met at the coronation—"
Anna's brow furrowed. "Right… you were the guy who bumped into me when I was trying to find someone."
"I—yes," he stammered, reaching for her hand. "We danced. We sang—don't you remember?"
Ethan's eyes sharpened, and he took a step forward. "She needs rest. This isn't the time."
But Hans wasn't listening. He leaned in closer.
"True love's kiss," he whispered. "It might save you. Let me try."
Then—
THWACK.
Hans doubled over with a grunt as Anna's foot landed squarely between his legs. He collapsed on the floor, groaning in pain.
"Are you insane?" she shouted, now fully awake. "I don't even know you!"
"Wh—But you said—at the coronation—" Hans wheezed, rolling on the ground.
"I was looking for someone else," she snapped, glancing at Ethan, then turning her eyes back to the prince. "I don't even remember your name."
Hans whimpered. "H-Hans…"
"Oh," she said flatly. "Well, sorry Hans, but we're not a thing. Never were."
As Hans tried to crawl toward the bed, still gasping from the pain, Ethan stepped forward and grabbed him by the collar.
He didn't say a word.
CRACK.
One swift right hook to the face.
Hans went flying back, hitting the wall with a loud thud. A tooth hit the marble floor. Blood dripped from his nose.
The room went silent.
Even the guards froze at the threshold, unsure whether to intervene.
Ethan slowly lowered his fist, breathing hard. "Don't ever go near her again."
Anna sat up in bed, her cheeks flushed from more than just the cold. "You… you punched a prince for me?"
Ethan shrugged. "He deserved worse."
Then, without thinking, Anna reached forward and wrapped her arms around him.
"Thank you," she whispered.
He held her gently, careful not to press on her back where the ice was still slowly fading.
"It wasn't Hans," Ethan said. "That was clear from the start."
"I know," Anna whispered back. "It was never him. Not even for a second."
Their eyes met. The heat between them was undeniable now. Everything else faded away for just a moment—no frost, no fear, no kingdoms or curses.
Just the two of them.
Later that night, Hans was dragged from the castle with a broken nose and missing teeth. The king's advisors declared him unfit to rule anything, let alone handle royal matters. His engagement claims were tossed out like yesterday's trash.
In the castle, Elsa knelt beside Anna's bed with a blanket wrapped around her. The white in Anna's hair had stopped spreading. The magic had slowed.
Elsa placed a hand on her sister's chest and closed her eyes, whispering, "Thank you…"
Meanwhile, Ethan stepped outside onto the castle balcony. Snow still drifted down from the sky, but it was lighter now, gentler.
He leaned on the rail, sighing deeply."System Offline…"
The words still echoed in his mind.He had saved Anna.
He had fought through dungeons, monsters, and magic to get here.
But now he was in a different world.
And no answers.
He didn't even know why he was here, or who that intelligent monster from the dungeon truly was.
But at least… for now… Anna was safe.
And that was enough.
