Chapter 14: Chapter 14 Death Line
Xia Yujiang and Dong Jinsu first took all their anger out on Qin Yi, but as they cursed, they began to blame each other, ending up like dogs biting each other. Immediately, the house turned into a battlefield again, and the tea set on the table became a sacrifice, shattered all over the floor.
Because of this couple who appeared harmonious but were internally estranged, the house always had spare tea sets on hand; otherwise, they couldn't even find a cup to drink water from at times.
Qin Yi sneaked away quietly. Once back in his room, he suddenly thought that Xia Yanbing chose to marry him not just out of gratitude and sympathy, but perhaps more due to her disappointment in marriage. With such parents setting an example, who would still have hope in marriage? It might be more hassle-free to find a disabled husband.
In the afternoon, Qin Yi received a call from Liu Zhanyuan.
When he went downstairs to leave, Dong Jinsu and Xia Yujiang were already gone, and the living room had been cleaned by the servants. Looking at the brand new tea set on the table, Qin Yi guessed that this set wouldn't last more than two days.
...
Bao Laina Western Restaurant.
This is one of the best Western restaurants in Yinfeng City.
The waiter pushed Qin Yi to a quiet, secluded window seat on the second floor.
Liu Zhanyuan had been waiting for him.
"Qin Divine Doctor, what would you like to drink?" Liu Zhanyuan asked with a smile.
The waiter brought the drinks menu, and Qin Yi ordered a cup of Irish Coffee.
"Qin Divine Doctor, per your request, everything has been arranged." Liu Zhanyuan took out a document and pushed it in front of Qin Yi, "This is a 15% share of Xia Group. Your signature will make it effective."
"Thank you!" Qin Yi picked up the contract, looked at it for a while, and signed his name. From now on, he was one of the shareholders of Xia Group.
"Qin Divine Doctor has been a great benefactor to our Liu Family, no need to stand on ceremony with me. Here's another document for the 50 million investment; you need to sign it too. If Xia Group becomes profitable, it must pay back the 50 million first."
Qin Yi nodded and signed his name on the document.
"Director Liu, please don't call me Qin Divine Doctor anymore; it sounds like a scammer. Call me Mr. Qin instead."
Liu Zhanyuan nodded with a smile.
"By the way, Mr. Qin, currently representing you is someone I trained, called Shen Zhengwen. If you have a suitable person, just coordinate with Shen Zhengwen for a handover. I'll send you Shen Zhengwen's information later."
Qin Yi chuckled, "Director Liu is indeed meticulous. Since it's someone Director Liu chose, I naturally trust them. For now, he'll do, and I'll contact him later."
Liu Zhanyuan nodded with a smile.
"How is Young Liu doing?" With business out of the way, it was time for some small talk.
Mentioning Liu Wencheng, Liu Zhanyuan was full of joy and said, "Thank you for your concern, Mr. Qin. He could already get out of bed and walk a few steps this morning. I think it won't be long before he fully recovers."
However, Qin Yi suddenly narrowed his eyes slightly. Just now, when Liu Zhanyuan was smiling, Qin Yi noticed a black line at the center of his brow. Of course, others couldn't see this line, only Qin Yi could.
The Eye of Righteous and Evil gave him not only cultivation techniques but also many things, like face reading techniques.
One's fate can completely be read from their face.
The black line on Liu Zhanyuan's brow was a death line, indicating that Liu Zhanyuan was recently in life-threatening danger.
But Qin Yi's cultivation was not high enough, and he hadn't studied this face reading technique thoroughly, so he couldn't determine the source of the threat to Liu Zhanyuan's life at the moment.
"Mr. Qin, what's wrong?" Liu Zhanyuan asked curiously, noticing Qin Yi's odd expression.
Qin Yi snapped back and shook his head slightly, indicating it was nothing. Telling Liu Zhanyuan he was in life-threatening danger out of nowhere sounded like cursing him, and Liu Zhanyuan might consider him a scammer instead of a divine doctor.
Since Liu Zhanyuan was a busy man, they chatted for a bit before leaving the restaurant simultaneously.
As they left, Liu Zhanyuan offered, "Mr. Qin, shall I give you a ride home first?"
"No need, Director Liu, you go ahead."
"Then I'm off. If you need anything, just call me. By the way, once Chengwen is better, I'll have him thank you in person."
Qin Yi smiled, agreeing to it.
The driver drove the car in front of Liu Zhanyuan, got out, and opened the car door for him. But Qin Yi's eyes suddenly froze.
"Wait a moment!" Qin Yi spoke up as the driver opened the back door. He saw wisps of black gas creeping out, inexplicably entangling around Liu Zhanyuan, while the driver beside him was untouched.
This black gas was the aura of death, indicating that whoever sat in the back seat would be in danger.
Liu Zhanyuan turned to Qin Yi, smiling, "Is there anything else, Mr. Qin?"
Qin Yi hesitated a bit, then asked, "Director Liu, are you heading back to the company?"
Liu Zhanyuan nodded, not understanding why Qin Yi asked this.
"Director Liu, let the driver drive back, and you either take a taxi to the company or sit in the front passenger seat instead of the back," Qin Yi said calmly.
Liu Zhanyuan had a strange expression, completely baffled by Qin Yi's intentions.
Qin Yi didn't know how to explain it to Liu Zhanyuan, so he smiled, "Director Liu, if you trust me, just do as I say."
Liu Zhanyuan didn't understand at all, but with company affairs awaiting, he didn't dwell on it and laughed, "Alright, I'll listen to Mr. Qin."
Saying this, he stepped forward and sat in the front passenger seat, rolled down the window, waved, and left.
Qin Yi watched Liu Zhanyuan's car leave, then looked down, pondering for a moment, wondering if this move could resolve Liu Zhanyuan's crisis?
...
"Director Liu, that gentleman just now was really strange. When does a chairman sit in the front passenger seat?"
Liu Zhanyuan's driver, Xiao Li, had been with him for years and was trusted. On the way, he couldn't help but complain.
"I don't know either; Mr. Qin is indeed a very peculiar person." Liu Zhanyuan didn't blame the driver for speaking out, though he did feel awkward sitting in the front passenger seat.
Liu Zhanyuan found Qin Yi a bit inexplicable. A man with miraculous medical skills willingly living under someone else's roof as a live-in son-in-law was truly puzzling.
Xiao Li muttered, "I think it's just his perverse hobby, surely envious of you being in good health, Director. I heard that people with physical disabilities often have some degree of psychological issues."
Liu Zhanyuan slightly raised his eyebrows, speaking in a deep voice, "Drive properly and don't talk so much," as Qin Yi was a lifesaver to the Liu Family.
Xiao Li dared not complain about Qin Yi anymore, but his expression revealed that he was surely internally grumbling about Qin Yi.
The front passenger seat wasn't as spacious as the back, and Liu Zhanyuan felt uncomfortable. He contemplated whether to move to the back. Perhaps Qin Yi letting him sit in front was indeed Qin Yi's perverse hobby. Besides, he was used to reading documents in the car, but the documents were at the back.
"Xiao Li, find a place to stop at the intersection ahead," Liu Zhanyuan decided to move to the back, feeling he had given Qin Yi enough face by sitting in the front in his presence.
"Understood, Director!"
