Chapter: "White Tiger Job Center (II)"
Yuujin stared at the man in front of him — the sharp-dressed strategist, the one who whispered orders that could collapse empires.
Tom Lee.
Cold sweat threatened to form on Yuujin's brow, but his expression didn't move. His body was alert, but not tense. He was ready for anything — an ambush, a trap, another unexpected barrage like Manager Kim's.
But instead, Tom Lee just chuckled.
"Come now," he said casually. "You've come from far, haven't you?"
He gestured to a leather chair across the table. "Why don't you sit?"
Tom Lee turned his own chair and sat down leisurely, crossing one leg over the other.
Yuujin blinked once, then slowly approached and sat, never breaking eye contact.
Tom Lee leaned forward, his voice smooth.
"You know, James Lee… surprisingly sent me a letter."
He tapped his fingers on the table and pointed at Yuujin with a half-grin.
"A recommendation. From James freaking Lee."
Yuujin's jaw clenched ever so slightly.
"When I saw it," Tom continued, "I expected a monster. Maybe someone like Gapryong Kim's first son..."
He tilted his head, observing Yuujin's reaction.
"Kitae Kim."
Yuujin's pupils trembled.
Kitae Kim was Gapryong Kim's First Son ? He had never heard of that. If true — that was a bombshell.
Tom Lee smirked, satisfied with the reaction. "You didn't know that, did you?"
He picked up a folder from the side table and opened it, his tone shifting.
"So, naturally, I looked into your past."
Tom's voice dropped, sharper now.
He raised his hand and pointed it directly at Yuujin.
"You. Yuujin Jin.
You were convicted in juvenile detention for killing a doctor and a nurse."
A flinch.
It was small, but there.
Tom leaned back with a cold chuckle. "But… that wasn't the most interesting thing."
He pulled out a folded piece of old newspaper and his glasses.
" 'Yuujin Jin: The Mute Boy Who Survived Hell.' "
He tapped the article with his finger.
"The only known survivor of government-sanctioned biological experiments… conducted by the 'licensed' maniac — Ryo Jin."
Another flinch.
This time, it was clear.
Yuujin's fists gripped the edge of the chair slightly, his nails pressing into the wood.
Tom dropped the paper gently on the table and removed his glasses. His voice dropped, almost... gentle.
"Just what the hell happened to you?" he asked.
It was a moment of silence.
Then...
Yuujin's voice cut through like a knife. Calm, low.
"When the hell does the interview start?"
Tom blinked, then started to laugh. He unfastened his tuxedo and laid it aside.
"Well," he said with a grin, "if you're that eager—"
He unbuttoned his shirt.
Yuujin narrowed his eyes. "What are you doing?"
Tom didn't answer. He neatly folded his shirt, then loosened his pants, stripping down to his underwear — skin covered in scars like maps from battles long past.
Yuujin turned his eyes toward Manager Kim, silently asking for an explanation.
Manager Kim simply shrugged from the distance, leaning on the wall.
Yuujin stood up cautiously. "Mr. Tom Lee, what the hell is this—"
BAM.
A fist slammed into Yuujin's face.
He flew backward, skidding across the carpeted floor, a splash of blood trailing behind.
His mouth split open. Blood trailing through both nostrils.
He didn't saw it coming.
He crouched, coughing, blood dripping from his lip. He was in disbelief — he didn't sense it. No bloodlust. No wind-up. Just pure, clean speed.
Tom stood tall, cracking his knuckles. Muscles twitching beneath the scars.
Yuujin looked up, stunned. "What… the hell was that?"
Tom Lee tilted his head, looking at him with eyes full of cold disdain and quiet pity.
"What are you waiting for?"
He didn't yell. He didn't bark orders.
He simply asked — like he was disappointed.
Yuujin remained crouched, face bloodied, mind racing.
This wasn't an interview.
This wasn't a conversation.
This was a test.
Manager Kim watched from afar, unmoving, unreadable.
Tom Lee postured. Hands on his waist, streching forward. He stood — a man of chaos and calculation. A living paradox in boxer briefs.
Yuujin slowly stood up.
He wiped the blood from his mouth with the back of his hand.
His voice was calm again.
"…So this is what it means to work for White Tiger."
Tom nodded once. "You understood. Right?"
