Chapter 152: Chapter 152: Starlight Shines
"Stop them!" screeched Khamûl, his soul-fire flickering wildly in excitement. After all, capturing two Alliance Sixth-tier powerhouses was a rare opportunity.
A true Sixth-tier combatant could support an entire kingdom, and here were two of them.
With three Fallen Heroes against a Light-Shadow Hero and a Hunter, the odds were stacked in the former's favor.
With proper coordination, the Fallen Heroes wouldn't even suffer casualties. At this level, the addition or loss of a single combatant could drastically alter the outcome.
"Domain of Death!"
Sennar raised his hand, unleashing a devastating attack without hesitation, completely disregarding the surrounding orcs. To him, the orcs were merely expendable resources.
"Dirge of Wailing!" Lydilias's battle axe vibrated, sending a harrowing wail through the battlefield.
"Corrupt Spirit!"
Khamûl pointed, a six-pointed star flashing briefly before a purple-black skull flew toward Vanervi.
This time, Khamûl had learned his lesson—he didn't attempt to apply negative effects on Omsk. Instead, he targeted Vanervi, who was the weaker link.
"Damn it! Disgusting!"
Vanervi muttered, unwilling to let the spell hit him.
As a fragile fighter, a single negative effect could spell doom. Swiftly activating his Flame Dash, he left behind a fiery afterimage, dodging Khamûl's attack.
Despite switching to fire-based battle energy, his inherent agility and skills remained unchanged.
"Song of Radiance!"
Behind Omsk, a figure with three pairs of pristine white wings materialized.
Her voice carried a melody capable of cleansing souls, and a golden translucent shield enveloped Omsk and Vanervi.
The effect? Invincibility. The skill, known as the Blessing of the Six-Winged Archangel, granted immunity from a single attack.
"Ah! Damned light!" Khamûl's soul-fire flared violently, expressing his fury.
"This world was meant to be gray..." murmured Sennar, clutching his soul scythe. A complex expression flickered in his eyes, a trace of sentimentality betraying a long-buried memory.
"Such revolting energy!" Lydilias gritted his teeth and conjured a shield of undead souls. Although beings of their tier no longer feared light, its presence was still uncomfortable for them.
"Heh, I was once a paladin too..." Sennar sneered, a mocking smile on his lips.
"Do you truly believe what you fight for is justice?" he whispered, his scythe slicing through space, appearing suddenly before Omsk.
"Spirit-Shaking Flash!" Omsk smashed his spear into the ground, causing a massive pillar of light to erupt and expand like a mage's repulsion aura. The scythe was deflected with a violent shockwave.
"Piercing Cloud!" Vanervi pulled his bowstring, firing arrows imbued with shimmering energy toward Lydilias and Khamûl.
Boom! The impact staggered Khamûl, who had yet to recover fully from Omsk's earlier strike.
"Kill him!" Khamûl and Lydilias exchanged glances, instantly understanding each other's intent: eliminate the troublesome Hunter.
Hunters, with their hit-and-run tactics, were infuriating in prolonged battles.
Their ability to kite enemies could shift the tide of battle entirely, and Khamûl's group was determined to avoid that.
Letting Vanervi roam freely would result in unpredictable and dangerous sneak attacks.
"Careful!" Omsk's eyes shrank as he realized the Nazgûl's plan. In their eyes, Vanervi was the easiest target.
Omsk, a heavily armored tank, could withstand several attacks from the Nazgûl, but Vanervi? He wouldn't last against two of them at full strength.
"Blazing Teleport!" With all escape routes blocked, Vanervi activated his skill, reappearing along the fiery trail he had left behind.
"Hesitation is defeat! Confidence is a free gift! Can't catch me, can you? You're helpless against me!" Vanervi taunted them mercilessly.
"Kill him!" The two Nazgûl lunged at him again.
Whoosh! Vanervi disappeared once more, reappearing at a different spot.
"His skill relies on fire!" Sennar, while clashing with Omsk, glanced at the chaos and quickly deduced the nature of Vanervi's teleportation.
"Damned trickster!" Enraged, Khamûl unleashed his dark battle energy, snuffing out most of the flames Vanervi had left behind.
"Try running now!" Lydilias, wielding his battle axe, chased after Vanervi. His undead energy smothered the remaining sparks, while Khamûl closed in from another direction.
"Help! Omsk!" Vanervi cried out, realizing the dire situation. The two Nazgûl were playing dirty and aiming for a definitive kill.
Buzz! Whoosh!
Just as disaster loomed, Vanervi improvised. He infused his arrowhead with fiery battle energy and fired it, instantly teleporting to the arrow's landing point.
"What the—? Flying Thunder God Technique?" Rynar, who had been holding the line at the barrier's entrance, was stunned.
"We're in Middle-earth, and you somehow managed to bring in techniques from Naruto?!" he exclaimed, his composure shattered.
Elemental Blink was a core skill for agile classes like Rangers and Assassins. Vanervi's flame-based teleportation required a fire imbued with his battle energy.
Thus, his earlier Flame Dash had been a strategic setup. Unfortunately for him, Sennar, a cunning Nazgûl, had caught on.
Without his intervention, Vanervi might have achieved a new record for "dog-walking" his opponents.
"…" Sennar.
"…" Khamûl.
"…" Lydilias.
"…That was savage," muttered Omsk.
Who could have thought up such an infuriating strategy? The Nazgûl couldn't help but wonder if the Wood Elves' survival over the centuries was thanks to tactics like this.
How were they supposed to counter someone like Vanervi?
Theoretically, they could stop him by preventing him from shooting arrows, but was that even possible?
Skilled hunters could shoot from any angle.
"Let's move!" Vanervi shouted after breaking free from the battle and slaughtering some lesser enemies. He stood near the barrier's entrance, calling out to Omsk.
The Nazgûl were left speechless.
Could they stop Omsk from breaking through? Absolutely not. Without negative status effects, Omsk was an unstoppable force.
The frustration left the Nazgûl's already-decayed minds in utter disarray.
"Ah, so everyone's here. Saves me the trouble of looking for you..." A voice, calm yet chilling like the void, echoed near Rynar's group.
The air split open, revealing a silvery rift filled with dazzling starlight.
