Lost Into The Future

Chapter 5: Hatred For Kairo

Varce looked at Geo with resentment. There were a number of different emotions which flooded his mind. After a bit of thought, he grabbed the boy's neck and raised him in the air ready to crush the it with his bare hands.

"Don't try to hide Kairo, I can sense the void crown deep inside your soul."

Varce's voice was filled with rage. With all the emotions that he felt, he tightened his grip, and was about to crush the so-called 'Kairo' by the neck.

"If you're talking about king Kairo, then he's dead!"

The sentence shook Varce. For a short moment, he lightened his grip, giving Geo a bit of breathing space to take a few short breaths.

Varce's gaze wandered around aimlessly. The hooded man struggled to process the sentence Geo had just uttered. After he struggled with dealing his emotions for a while, he was able to strengthen his resolve, and regain his composure.

He once again tightened his grip while giving Geo a death glare. His mouth was twitching as he tried to utter a word.

"Kairo... dead?!... HAHAHAHA" Varce laughed and laughed like a madman. His uncontrollable laughter made him look like he had gone insane. His crazed laughter echoed across the place, but no one else noticed except for Aviana.

She was busy watching all of her students through a device and had just recently noticed the sudden appearance of Varce attacking one of her students. As an instructor, her duty was to both teach and protect her students. Immediately, she leapt into action, crossing the portal that directly sent her to where Geo was.

As she arrived she immediately went over to save Geo. She flew as fast as she could to where he was Once she arrived, her move was to cast a skill. She directed her hand towards Varce, who had his back turned away from her.

The hooded man's head turned as soon as he noticed Aviana's appearance. His eyes glared menacingly, and full of malice.

Even with the intense killing intent that Varce was releasing, Aviana was still able to barely compose herself with the help of her skills that buffed her mental fortitude. If she didn't have these skills, she would've had a very difficult time trying focus and cast a skill.

Not even a second had past, a beam of light was shot out from the tip of her fingers, aimed precisely at Varce's heart.

Varce on the other hand raised his hand, and spread his palm. With a single command, he was able to unleash a terrifyingly powerful shockwave.

"Deny."

[DENY]

From the man's palm, a shockwave was shot towards Aviana pushing her back so far away that she was thrown across the island until she had reached the sea. Without slowing down, she was sent hurling towards the seafloor where she crashed violently.

The shockwave created a meter tall wave that shook the ecosystem around it, all the creatures living nearby where displaced and rattled, as they rushed in a panic to find a safer spot.

Luckily, Aviana was able to hold on to the last bit of her consciousness and stay awake. On the other hand, she could feel the pain course through her body like she was struck with lightning. In the meantime, all she can is to prevent herself from drowning using mana. After all, with how horrific her crash was, her body could hardly move a muscle, while it trembled with fervor.

"So strong... too strong."

Geo muttered. That simple display of power caused incredible chaos and destruction. It only took Varce a simple skill that needed little to no effort in order to cast. It was way too terrifying. Geo was awestruck from the power displayed by the mysterious being trying to strangle him. He dreamt of reaching this man's level.

'This is what power looks like! This is what I need! Power so strong that I can eclipse fate!'

Geo looked at the destruction that was created, before looking back at Varce. This gave him a new perspective on the mysterious man. Geo knew that he was strong, but his expectations didn't reach to the extent where he could cast a skill of authority.

"Kairo can't die, not only is his lifespan tens of thousands of years, he's a being even stronger than I, in no reality could he have fallen... Not until he has completed his promise!"

The last bit of Varce's statement made his eyebrows furrow, as a painful memory flashed through his mind.

"He promised to help stabilize my planet, but no!... In the end it still fell apart and turned into a pile of floating rubble."

"He was killed during the great war of the races."

Geo interrupted.

"What nonsense are you spouting? What great war?"

Varce was getting more and more annoyed by the second. He was craving to kill Geo. He hadn't heard any news about Kairo's death in the past five thousand years. The same went for the so-called Great War of the races.

"Five thousand years ago... after the Land of the Dragons were attack by a rampaging man from one of the supreme races, the nations then used the incident as a proper justification to annihilate the great races and wipe them from existence, thus starting the great suppression war."

This made Varce ponder, the first part of Geo's statement was quite familiar to him, but what happened next was something that he had never heard of, what war?

The madman that was rampaging all throughout the Land of the Dragons was of course, Varce himself. Right after he saw his planet's destruction in front of him, had gone mad. He had lost his mind and went to vent. In order to release his frustrations, his first thought was to go on a rampage.

"How can you prove that what you're saying is true, it's possible that all your spouting is just a bunch of made up nonsense."

"Your powerful... and I can guess that you... can detect lies... why would I... dare to lie."

Geo spoke while feeling suffocated. The tight grip from Varce only tightened as time ticked by.

From the very beginning, Varce had already learned about the truth when Geo had said that Kairo had died due to the war. However, he just couldn't accept this truth, he could never. For he was too proud to admit that he was the root cause of the chain of events.

The hooded man bit his lips as memories surged through his mind, Geo was now on his last leg as he struggled to take a single breath, but a few seconds later, Varce completely let go of his grip of Geo's neck.

The hooded man turned around, walking slowly as he faced the ground. His fist was clenched as he gritted his teeth. After a deep breath, he disappeared from Geo's sight in an instant.
