Chapter 6: Useful
Inside a brightly lit conference room. There were a dozen people sitting around a round quartz table, discussing something urgent.
"There must be something wrong with the report!"
A woman said, while wearing a worried expression.
"I refuse to believe such an incident could even occur, that world was under the control of the academy, how can an outsider appear out of nowhere!?"
Another person stated.
While the group of people were discussing frantically, a familiar face was tapping his fingers repeatedly. The man was thinking deeply, before he turned his gaze at the person across him from the round table and uttered.
"What do you think we should do about the situation Kalix?"
Urius Shin spoke in a simple yet commanding tone, which caused the whole conference room to fall silent. Everyone who were previously busy rambling about their concerns were now giving their full attention to the academy's headmaster, before turning their attention to Kalix awaiting his response.
Kalix took a deep breath, and a few seconds later he responded calmly.
"All I can say is that we should prevent any possible leaks concerning about the incident, additionally we should do a private investigation without the government's meddling."
"If any news gets out about this, the reputation of the school will be in shambles." Kalix added.
Everyone pondered carefully about what they just heard. They realized that what Kalix said was true. If the public knew that an outsider was able to get inside the academy without as much as anyone being able to find out and cause such a stir. How could families trust the academy to protect their children if they learned about this incident. Their seamless and perfect image would be tainted with this disgrace.
They all looked at one another, trying to find out each others reactions. After a while, no one showed any signs of disagreeing, so they all decided to follow Kalix's suggestion.

Geo's dorm.
Geo was laying down on his bed staring blankly at his profile screen. He looked at his skills without emotions, while scrolling through them over and over endlessly.
"No matter how strong my skills are, I'm still a weakling in the end."
After Varce disappeared, Geo fell into a short daze. Slowly taking in the situation he had just been in. Once he collected himself, he was able to continue on his path towards the center of the volcano where he simply passed through the portal and was teleported back into the academy.
Aviana on the other hand had called for help the moment she could do so. A dozen other instructors hurriedly rushed to her location as fast as they could. They brrought her to the infirmary and immediately started treating her wounds.
She was badly wounded with many broken bones and a few torn muscles. Her soul and mana cores had also taken a fraction of the attack, causing minor scars that could be healed after a while. It was even a miracle she was able to maintain her consciousness and survive an authority skill.
The news of the incident spread quickly between the instructors of the academy, while the students were completely unaware of the situation as information of the incident was hurriedly sealed to prevent it from leaking to them. With the exemption of Geo, who was the only student that knew about the event.
During the event, all the others students were busy dealing with the Phoenix, where it unexpectedly took them half an hour to deal with. The fiery bird had turned berserk doubling its stats catching the children off guard leading to a few of them receiving severe and major injuries.
Once Geo finished his daydreaming, he stood from his bed and slowly approached the front door of his room. On the ground was a small chest made out of steel which was placed here by a courier from the academy.
This chest was a reward by his instructor Aviana as a prize to finishing her test first.
After grabbing the chest, he turned it around, inspecting it with interest. Right after a quick check, he went to sit at the dining room and placed the chest on the table. With a bit of curiosity he slowly opened the chest. Blinding light emanated from the chest before subsiding a second later, revealing the treasure hidden inside.
[Medium Soul Remnant of a Low Tier Blazing Phoenix]
Soul remnants were commonly very tiny, as only a very small fraction of the soul would remain. A medium remnant meant that a slightly larger fraction of the soul remained, which was an extremely rare occurrence. Such a thing could be considered a treasure. In addition to that, it was the soul of a blazing Phoenix, which was similar to the Phoenix that the students had recently taken down.
Geo's eyes were burning with brightly with bliss. Since as of now he only had a single mana core, and after absorbing the soul remnant he could easily create ten more mana cores.
"Absorbing this would take at least three days!"
And lucky for Geo, he and every student were given a three day break before classes would officially start. The incident had caused such a great impact to the academy so they decided to use the three days to stabilizing everything and for Aviana to fully recover.

"So the boy survived the incident huh..."
Kalix expressed a slightly visible smile, showing interest as he read a report about the recent event.
"First, this student was a random boy that they said had popped out of nowhere, then this boy was at the center of the storm yet he was able to survived nearly unscathed... except from the visible scars on his neck, clear signs of strangling."
"From the interview the boy had only said that the hooded man had given him mercy."
Kalix leaned back on his chair thinking deeply as he stared at the ceiling.
"Useful..."

Three days later.
Geo and his classmates were gathered on top of a floating island. The island was an open field that had four pillars near the edge that created a dome like structure made out of mana.
This dome acted as a room where the owner could set certain rules that those inside it would be subjected too, such a room could not be easily created though as it would normally take even tier eight beings a few days to set up.
Additionally these types of rooms costed a great fortune. At the same time, they were very durable, to the point where powerhouses would have to use a vast amount of their mana to disable or destroy it.
"Group yourselves into a team of five!"
A loud commanding voice echoed from the distance, a fair-skinned beauty with pitch black hair caught the attention of every student there, it was their instructor, Aviana Luth.
